Vietnamese coffee is delicious. 3/13/2009

I live in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and I do not have a car. When I am sick, no matter what the weather, I find a way to get myself to Lime and Basil to let the steamy pho nurse my throat. Yes, yes, I have had more authetic pho in ""Vietnamtowns"" from Orlando to Montreal, and I'm sure it could only get better if you left the continent, but if you're in Chapel Hill, there is absolutely no reason not to get it at Lime and Basil. It's cheap, it's delicious, and it's right here. Yay. Pros: Prices, pho, vietnamese coffee Cons: Some inconsistency from visit to visit more

don't go 1/26/2009

I have been living in Chapel Hill for more than 6 years. Pros: downtown chapel hill Cons: that's not PHO more

Looking for Pho in the Triangle Area? Look No Further 10/13/2008

This is a great Vietnamese restaurant in Chapel Hill. We were especially looking for Pho as that is one our favorite lunch dishes, and we finally came across a perfect place for it. The food tasted very fresh. The summer rolls were great, the staff was friendly, and the restaurant felt welcoming. Pros: Food, Service, Value Cons: Parking can be limited, can be crowded depending on time more

Best food ever! 9/30/2008

I love Lime and Basil. They have great food and it is a fun place to try new things. My favorites are the fresh summer rolls, the chicken curry, and coconut bubble tea. My friends always get pho and they love it too. I would eat there everyday if I could. Only thing is the service is a little slow some days. They need to schedule wait staff better. Pros: Great summer rolls. Cons: Not very personable wait staff...hours are strange. more

best restaurant, hands down! 9/10/2008

this is by far the best restaurant in chapel hill and definitely one of the best vietnamese restaurants i've ever been to! the food here is delicious! the summer rolls (and of course the peanut sauce) are to die for, and the pho (all of them) are so flavorful and filling! the stir fry dishes are absolutely amazing and the curry is the best i've had yet! nothing beats this restaurant in the area - i try to come at least once a week (twice if my schedule allows me to). the owner is so nice - he always comes out to check on the customers himself when the restaurant isn't too busy. the serving staff is nice and friendly and the atmosphere is wonderful! Pros: wonderful food, great prices Cons: little parking, busy on weekends more

Love it! 8/20/2008

Hands down the BEST restaurant in Chapel Hill. Yes the spring rolls are excellent but so are the summer rolls! Food is always fresh. Like others I've been recommended this place several times by many and have recommended it to many others and EVERYONE loves the food! Prices are great! Wait staff and manager are always friendly and smiling! The house special egg noodle soups my favorite! Great for all types of eaters! Pros: All the food and service Cons: small wait sometimes more

best spring rolls!! 4/22/2008

My husband and I crave Lime & Basil spring rolls and every friend I have introduced this place to loves the spring rolls. You could have a whole meal of them. Stuffed tofu is fantastic - may be outside the comfort zone of many - but it's delicious. Service is friendly and the atmosphere is cozy. Pros: great for vegetarian/meat dishes Cons: limited seating sometimes...but worth the wait! more

Great Food, Reasonable price 2/17/2008

after visiting this restaurant for the first time, i found it to be my new favorite. i have been there again several times since. The pho is delicious, and i have also had the lemongrass shrimp and chicken, both amazing. the food is fairly reasonably priced, and the service is good. If you do not like to wait, then avoid going on friday and saturday nights!!! (but really, the food is worth the wait). It is always nearly impossible to park on franklin street during busy hours, especially, but other than that there are no cons!!!! I love lime and basil, and i would reccomend it to anyone. more

Went for lunch. Would not go back. 2/6/2008

Went for lunch. Food was good but not great. Price was on the high side. Ice tea was really good. Service was so so. Could not get the check so we could leave. Well after we had finished lunch and after many tries we finally got the bill. It took about 20 minutes to get the bill, pay and leave. more

Yum 1/5/2008

Excellent Pho and summer rolls. I've had better bubble tea but their's is OK. I just wish it wasn?t so crowded! Also FYI it's closed on Sunday's. Pros: Great food Cons: crowded, small place more

#1 Restaurant 1/2/2008

Like a few of the other reviewers I am of Vietnamese descent and I agree that Lime and Basil comes the closes to having delicious authentic Vietnamese food. I've tried the other Vietnamese restaurants in the triangle but the other places never satisfied me and left me feeling seedy and dirty. Pros: Food, Service Cons: parking more

Best pho in the triangle 12/15/2007

I'm vietnamese and was raised with authentic vietnamese cuisine, and I thought the pho was amazing. Despite the numerous tables and few servers, I still receive great service and am always tended to. The music and decor all add to its great ambience and feel. I recommend going on the weekdays because it can get a bit on the crazy side on the weekends. Pros: Food, Ambience, Service Cons: Parking, Weekends more

Authentic Pho 11/17/2007

Pho was great considering ethnic food is not Chapel Hill's strongest point. Waitstaff are very friendly and quick to serve. Main problem is that the restaurant is VERY small and reservations are not allowed. Also, the restaurant should replace the cheap wooden chopsticks w/ plastic ones that are normally used in asian restaurants. Pros: Parking close by, food, prices, quik service Cons: Very small restaurnat, no reservations more

Excellent Friendly Service, Good Food 6/22/2007

My bosses wanted to take me to lunch and chose Lime and Basil because I had never been. It was terrific! I had read the reviews here prior to going and I cannot understand the service complaints. Our server was friendly, attentive and had a beautiful smile. The place was almost full and no one seemed left out or ignored. The food was great (I was the only one who had pho and I loved it) as was the bubble tea (next time I'm getting a coconut one!). I loved the decor but then I'm a huge fan of lime green, so I might be biased. Prices were right and the food was wonderful. I will go back again! Pros: Excellent, Friendly Service more

great food 4/27/2007

I moved to the triangle from NY not too long ago and was worried about the choice of restaurants in the area...especially Vietnamese cuisine. A friend recommened Lime & Basil, and I am glad they did. The food is very good and you can't beat the value for your money. I've returned many times (after being too lazy to cook)...and I enjoy the pho, grilled dishes and the summer rolls very much. I wouldn't recommend going on the weekends, as it can get pretty crazy...I think a lot of this has to do w/ the size of the establishment (very small) So go at lunch or on a weeknight. The modern decor, small size and contemporary vietnamese music all add to the charm. I havent had problems w/ staff either.. so overall..a worthwhile experience Pros: food, decor Cons: parking, weekends more

I have never been disrespected more in my life 4/19/2007

Besides waiting forever until one of the wait staff notices you need to be seated, the service is incredibly slow. On top of that, the manager/store owner, or so he said, treated my dinner party with complete disrespect. He was incredibly rude and seemed blazingly angry. We tried our best to be polite and appease his contempt filled attitude, but he seemed to disregard customer service completely. I will never eat there ever again and I am letting all of my friends know about the kind of service we received. I suggest finding another Vietnamese restaurant in the triangle. more

yummy pho 2/28/2007

the only thing to eat here is the pho. a good indication of this is the descriptive placemats on what pho is. i've tried other things on the menu...they're ok, but don't compare to the fresh, flavourful soup. it's a good place to grab a bite to eat for lunch. more

A must try! 7/23/2006

Lime and Basil is a great choice!!!! The food is awesome and very authentic. Service has improved greatly since they opened. I never wait more than 15 minutes for a table and that is on a friday night. The chicken pho and house special fried rice are amazing!!! You must try this place. Pros: great food, great service, very reasonable prices Cons: not the best place for children more

I'm In Love 5/14/2006

After visiting Vietnam, I've been on the search for a great Vietnamese restaurant to dine at and I believe I've found it, Lime and Basil! I must say this is the best Vietnamese Restaurant I've been to yet. It is extremely clean and the food is just amazing! My recommendations would be their salad rolls and their lemon grass grilled pork over vermicelli. They also have this great Vietnamese-French coffee. The decor was very appropriate and the restaurant itself was small but cozy. The service there was spectacular- they are very warm and welcoming, attentive. more

Amazing -- See for yourself! 12/18/2005

I went here for the first time with my best friend and her mom a few weeks ago. Depending on the time that you go, there may or may not be quick seating. The atmosphere is great, and the food is to die for! Check it out! Pros: Quick seating, Fast&friendly servic, Menu variety Cons: Street parking, Not many tables, Sometimes crowded more
