Best

Had a ton of fun here. From out of town and didn't realize Chicago had after hours bars. It was definitely well worth it!

Worst

Expected to find a great place with open minded people for dance. I'm one of the UK, London celebs - think that I know how to party, but what I've seen here was discouraging. Pupi...

One of the hottest clubs 6/16/2005

I go there often with my girlfriends. You should go to LePassage if you'e in the mood to really party, not just sit around and have a few beers w/ you're friends. Getting in can be a little tough if you don't know anybody since the club is pretty exclusive...but just look good and guys pls, pls dress up in something nicer than a t-shirt and sandals, and that'll up ur chances. And getting there early (10ish) is the best way to avoid waiting. I would say it is a little pricey to party there, but drinks are totally reasonable for such a nice club. I would recommend getting a bottle if you're with a few friends. There's a mix of crowd and music, different rooms vary between hiphop & house. Overall a great time, good looking crowd, good drinks, good music...we always have fun. Pros: music, good looking crowd, exclusive Cons: can be a long wait more

So Fun!! 11/7/2004

We visited Le Passage last Saturday eve. and had the best time! This place definitely caters to people who are willing to throw down some major cash. We scored a reserved table and had many bottles of champagne due to our generous host of the evening. Our waitress was incredibly sweet and brought us everything we asked for. My only negative critisism was that after our host left, we had to leave our VIP seats in order for them to seat others. Whatever! But they did move us to another section which was cool but at that point we were ready to call it a night. Pros: Attractive people, Great champagne, Good music Cons: , flaky bouncers more

Le Passage Sucks! 5/23/2003

The service at Le Passege is terrible at best. The door men or women avoid eye contact to all they do not know! Insecure? And then when someone shows up that they know, they suddenly are the most outgoing person you've ever seen! Fake? Most of the girls are average at best, and the drink prices are steep. I paid $20 to get in and left after an hour. Don't Go! Pros: leaving! Cons: expensive drinks, average women, long line more

Used to be cool 4/27/2003

Le Passage used to be a cool place, but now its just lame. Suburbanite kids from Aurora etc frequent this now-lame hangout. I'd spend my money elsewhere. more

Eh... I've had better. 3/10/2003

Crowded, pretentious, and over-priced. Nice place to 'see and be seen'. Some pretty people, but you gotta wonder how many Coyote Uglies happen after a night at this place. Good for every once in a while enterainment. Females, wear close-toed shoes, unless you wanna limp your way out at the end of the night. Lots of squeezing, people copping feels all over the place... uninvited for the most part, considering the frat boy atmosphere. Some interesting dancing, attention hungry chics who make out for a chance at a pic on Chicago-Scene's web site. Pros: Eye Candy, Good music, Neat Set Up Cons: Over-crowded, Expensive, Fake more

Le Passage...Please...Get over it 12/31/2002

Please? Cool...hot...beautiful people? Billy Dec get over yourself. This place is as bad as his ego. more

Best Club in Chicago!!!!!! 11/30/2002

Le Passage is everything you want in a good nightclub. The scene at Le Passage draws a comfortable mixture of 21-to mid 30 somethings. The people are beutiful, the service is excellent, the club itself is amazing. Le Passage is becoming known for its quality and frequency of "special events". "Rush Thursdays" at Le Passage have had some top events this past fall, including the Diesel Jeans party. Billy Dec, owner of Le Passage, Birthday Bash was one of the best events I have ever attended in Chicago nightlife. I highly recomend Le Passage. Pros: Exclusive more

Thebset Club in the city of Chicago 11/27/2002

The club scene in Chicago has gotten so trashy recently. Its nice to see a club like Le Passage keep the bar up above the rest. I felt like I was actually at a normal club!!!! I highly recommend this place it is awesome!!!! Pros: Trendy, Not over crowded, good music Cons: no phone reception, get there early more

Best Trance music on the GoldCoast 11/12/2002

Great music in the front room and nice, social lounge type atmosphere in the back. Fairly young, post-collegiate crowd and very good looking. Good girl to guy ratio on Fridays and Saturdays. Drinks tend to be a little expensive. Great staff and very friendly owners. Pros: trance, club music, great set up, perfect location Cons: crowded at times more

Arrogant pupils, on mum's expenses 11/8/2002

Expected to find a great place with open minded people for dance. I'm one of the UK, London celebs - think that I know how to party, but what I've seen here was discouraging. Pupils, around 21 - arrogant, thinking that they are models but look like ordinary chicks. The club itself is nice equiped, cosy - needs a harder door and guestlist policy. Than it could make up to one of the best in town! Pros: nice club, good drinks, friendly staff Cons: audience is arrogant, bad mood more

worst service 8/28/2002

Atmosphere is not so bad, we order 3 bottles of champagne the last one before to be finish was taking away the bus boys and they still charging us with no understanding. Cons: empty, service more

Editorial
  • The Scene
Through an alley lined with palm fronds, down a dark staircase, the club-restaurant offers a sumptuous, gilded Gold Coast hideaway. Thick pillars throughout are painted with 21-karat gold, as is the artist-designed wallpaper. The dance floor is nice enough--a roomy, wood-paneled enclave--but the real attraction is the Yow Bar, named after Yow Low, the famous bartender from Trader Vic's.

    The Draw
The dining crowd skews older than the usual club scenesters, while the line for Yow Bar (which snakes through the club) is full of flashy fashion plates. Classic French fare and upscale meat and potatoes define the food menu, the meat being braised duck (the house specialty, terrific and sweet) and the potatoes crisp pommes frites. Seasonal preparations of foie gras and lobster salad (served with tender fingerling potatoes) also shine, and the raspberry-chocolate terrine is breathtaking.
