Lazy and Rude 12/1/2011

I recently visited them for some very minor routine maintenance. I was told it would take about 30 minutes. After an hour of waiting I was told by the tech that he wasn't able to get everything done and had to leave for the day. I asked if any of the other techs would do the work and I was told they were leaving too. I asked to talk to a manager and his response was, ""What do you expect? It's almost 5"" ...Simple maintenance should not be this difficult. more

Trustworthy & efficient 4/3/2010

Chris and his crew are terrific. They are friendly, upbeat, happy, well-tattooed, and patient. I know nothing about my car. Except that it does weird stuff. They explain. They tell me what I don't have to have done. They fix the dealer's mistakes. And best of all? I trust Chris. Their labor fees are not cheap. But they are good and I know the work is done right. Pros: Friendly, honest, funky Cons: not the cheapest place more

Great service 2/8/2009

I've been to this Kwik Kar several times in the last couple of years for oil changes, state inspections, and once for a complete detailing. Each time, Chris and his guys were courteous, explained everything clearly, and worked quickly. Last week I swung by in a hurry and asked if they could do an oil change in 15 minutes, which they did. Vacuumed my carpet and washed my windshield too. I plan to give this location more of my business. Pros: Quick service, confidence in the work more

No sense of urgency, charging more than they say 2/5/2009

I went to the Kwik Kar on Parmer near Mopac initially for an inspection and oil change. My first visit took two hours and there were only two other customers waiting with me. They kept trying to point out problems that needed to be fixed on my car - air filter, transmission fluid, differential oil, etc. The differential was the only one I went for since it's the only thing I haven't recently had serviced. They said the differential flush was $41, and charged me $55. The oil change was supposed to be $26.99 and they charged me $34. The inspection came around and I failed because of my tires, so I had to go get new ones and come back. As soon as I came back they said they already shut down their inspection sticker making machine so I'd have to come back the next day. So I came back the next day just to have them check my tires - it took them 45 minutes just to do that. I'm definitely staying away from this place in the future. Pros: comfy couches Cons: they make you wait hours instead of minutes, charge a lot more than quoted more

Worst Experience Ever 9/22/2008

I went to Kwik Kar two weeks back after my AC went bust. I saw a sign that said 'Free AC Check' and all I needed was an estimate of how much it was going to cost me to fix my AC. To start with, there was nobody to ask us what our problem was and we had to wait more than 20 mins before anyone would talk to us. Not that there was no one around, just that no one seemed to care. Then they asked us to fill out a form and they would call us back (about 1 hr according to them). We waited for 3 hours and they never called us. So we decided to go to the shop and check on what was going on. Again, there was no one around and we waited another 10 mins before anyone spoke to us. Our car was still lying there and they hadnt looked at yet. There was no other car in the shop either. I asked the guy what was the deal. He replied 'they were just too busy'. He then took the car in and within 5 minutes, he was able to tell what was wrong with it since it was pretty obvious to the eye. He then went inside to run the numbers for my estimate and came back 15 minutes later with a ridiculously huge number. I asked him out of courtesy how much I owed him for the 'Free AC check'. He said 90 bucks!!! 60 for the AC service which I don't know how he did on a broken AC and 30 for the freon that he supposedly used, again on my broken AC! In fact, he wanted me to thank him for not charging me any labor. \r \r Lesson learnt, I would never go to Kwik Kar again. more

Great service and good information 8/30/2008

This is the first time I have posted a review on this site. I went to Kwik Kar lube today and described the problems I was having with my car and Chris was very helpful. He explained what he was going to do to my car and then gave me a follow up to the problem before repairs were done. I received great service and I will be returning to have my air conditioner repaired next week. When I go in for my oil change(s) and vehicle inspection everyone is always very helpful and professional. So far the best place I have been able to take my car and feel comfortable. more

rude and irresponsible people 4/26/2008

On March 28, 2008, I came to Kwik shop on 2312 Parmer Lane, Austin, TX, only for an oil change. However, the mechanics in this shop convinced me to do a radiator service as well and charged me $59.99 for it. They used the high pressure water to flush the radiator which was found later cause the severe damage of my radiator. Three weeks later, On April18, 2008, my car got overheated on the highway. During these three weeks, I only drove my car for 478 mile(from 111945m to 112424m). On April 19, my car was towed in to their shop for a check. They denied what they had done to my car and were very rude to my wife and me. They failed to find that the real underlying cause of the overheating is the cracked radiator and charged me another $105. They even yelled at us. We are very disappointed at them. On April 21, I had my car repaired at another automotive repair shop. The mechanics there took off the radiator. The cracked radiator proves to be the cause of overheat. It is irresponsible or lack of professional knowledge for the mechanics in their shop suggest a flush the radiator of my 11-year old car. For a car as old as mine, you should never do the radiator flush. They only want to earn the money and never consider the condition and the real needs for your car. Pros: Nothing Cons: bad attitude and lack of common knowledge for cars more
