Not what I thought 1/29/2006

I recently had a birthday party there. The outside staff was unattentive, unless you were willing to pay for a bottle table, which was ridiculous. After finally waiting 30 minutes, they let me in, the inside staff seemed confused and not very organized, but eventually I made it to my guests. The Bartender was super friendly, I wasn't impressed by the drinks on the menu so he made up his own! They were great!!! The music was low, no dancefloor, and very crowded on a Saturday night...I didn't stay the whole night, I wouldn't recommend throwing a party there, but recommended to just hang out if nothing else to do. Pros: Great Bartenders, Beautiful decor, Nice hideout spot Cons: Rude bouncers, rude coordinators, Bad music more

Cool place 1/14/2006

Kush is so relaxing , i love just sitting there in the dark with the hookah - Def a place to take a girlfriend and talk more

Dont Bother!! 12/19/2005

What happened? Kush used to be a cool laid back place with great music. Now it seems like over priced water downed drinks and bottle service have taken over. And what happened to all those great world beat dj's? The staff was rude , unattentive and the music was crap. Bring back the cool vibe of Orchard Street!!! And whats with the $30 hookhas? Cons: Expensive, Bad music, Rude Staff more

we went here with friends and even reserved a table. we were one of the first groups there and ordered many rounds of drinks. after happy hour, the waitress basically forced us to either buy a $200 + bottle of alcohol (that i could buy at a liquor store for $30) or leave. the drinks are exepensive anyway, and we were drinking plenty before that. but she asked us more than once and even had the nerve to tell us the people 2 tables away had ordered a bottle of ""spirits"" and had requested our table so could we move down? it was so unbelieveably rude and pretentious i couldn't believe it! i will never be going back. more

Chrystie Street Gem 12/5/2005

Reflecting the developing character of Chrystie Street, the enchanting atmosphere of Kush Lounge is both cutting edge and refined. Tasty original cocktails and full table service may cater to the lounge/club crowd, but the friendly staff and innovative resident and rotating DJs keep the place authentic, fresh and accessible to all. Happy hour with half priced everything until 9 p.m. is a steal and as the place doesn't get really crowded until late night, it's the perfect time to relax with friends and cheaply sample the specialty drinks and excellent appetizers. Definitely going back. Pros: Music, Drinks, Staff Cons: Crowded (weekends) more

the MOJITOS will make you a regular :) 12/3/2005

I went here with my girlfriends on a random whim- and we were all pleasantly surprised to say the least!! The music was great- very unique and mellow- an interesting mix. the bartender (Sala?) was AMAZING!! he made me the best mojito I have ever had, one after the next!! I went back 2 weeks later because I was craving a good mojito- not only did the bartender deliver but he also remembered me with a smile. The staff is friendly, the drinks are exceptional, and the atmosphere is relaxing, mellow, and FUN. We were not disappointed- ask for a mojito and you won't be either :) Pros: inexpensive, nice atmosphere, great music more

Kush- not the same charming place 11/20/2005

Kush USED to be great when it was on Orchard St - now its just another one of those places that force people to buy bottles and have discriminatory policies of entry based on gender. We came in on a Thursday and they were begging my group to come in, and then we decided to come by on Saturday and they were forcing our group to buy bottle service at $225.00 per bottle just to get in. We had friends inside the place waiting for us, but the door bouncers didn't care. Not worth the hassle. Cons: Door policies, Overpriced hookahs more

Enchanting ! 11/13/2005

Kush is truely one of the most enchanting bar/lounges in NYC. Kush is at its best on Tuesdays, with drink specials that ease you into an evening filled with the sounds djembek drums and sights of belly dancing. For me the novelty of this place never wears off. Have been a fan since the Orchard street days and the new location on Chrystie only makes the experience better ! more

Had a good time there, honest Bartenders 11/7/2005

Was there for a birthday recently, everything went smoothly and after our party dispersed I was tanked. Bartender had told me I way overpaid for a drink and let me know it, instead of simply keeping it for himself. That goes very far in my book, not very often you'll find that in nyc. The staff friendly and prompt. Check out the happy hour from 5-9. It is the uber cheapness. more

Good food, great drinks, comfortable spot 8/26/2005

I can't wait to go back. They have this cocktail: Chai Martini. Holy moly! They make their own chai tea and mix it with their own special touch = martini -- divine!! The food/appetizers are excellent and very reasonably priced. When I walked in I thought that it might be pricey, but it was surprisingly affordable. The waitstaff, people at the bar were all very friendly. The bathrooms are very clean, and there are a lot of low-lit nooks and cranies for many friends or just a couple. Pros: Food, Service, Drinks Cons: Can get crowded more

Music drinks and style 6/23/2005

From the cutting edge global sounds to the exotic drinks and beautiful atmosphere, Kush delivers the perfect escape from your typical sleek lounge. Keep an eye out for the great DJs that rotate through here -- Karsh Kale, DJ Rekka, Dub Gabriel to name a few. more

Back and even better! 6/19/2005

I don't normally write reviews but I've been anxiously awaiting the return of Kush after it moved from it's Orchard street location a year ago. Went there on a Friday night 4 weeks after it's reopening. The setup was amazing. I've been to quite a few Morrocan themed bars/lounges in the city and this one definitely ranks up there. It now has two bars...one upon entry and another in the back. A main seating area in the middle with seating around the outside walls. It has these huge columns that adds beatifully to the decor. Oh and the music was great! more
