Fantastic Food! 10/15/2007

I recently went to Kush Lounge for apps and cocktails with my girls. The tapas menu was awesome! We first tried the ""Merguez and Melon"" dish. It was spicy moroccan lamb served with honey dew and mint in a yogurt sauce. It literally melted in our mouth. Next we tried the ""mole de pato"" dish. This was extremely good which impressed us that a nightclub would have such a gourmet touch on finger foods. The dish was shredded duck in a Poblano Mole sauce. It is served in a round plantain, topped with creme fraiche and chives. This particular dish was one of our favorites. The mole sauce had a deep chocolate flavor to it, which is how mole is suppose to be. Our last tasting dish was the ""sesame chicken salad."" I loved their idea of actually putting the chicken salad into an Endive Spear. This way it was easy to eat wthout the need for forks and knives. We couldn't get enough. I highly recomend going to Kush for these small plates. All of which you won't be dissappointed!! Pros: Terrific Food, good service, fun music Cons: Doorman is tough on weekends more

Awesome Night 10/15/2007

I was at Kush last week and the place was rocking! I was at Kush last year and I was told that new managment had taken over this year. I heard that the new owners were running a tight door policy but still had great prices on bottle service. So I stopped by this past Saturday night, and wow the door was insane!\r Tons of beautiful people, alot of cool downtown hipsters, and definetly a hard door to get past the smokin hot chicks that ran the door.\r This place is definetly one of New Yorks hottest clubs. Good luck getting in, your gotta be hot and cool to get into this A-List Establishment!!! Pros: Great music, cool scene, good looking crowd Cons: You gotta be hot to get in! more

HORRIBLE SERVICE & PLACE 9/17/2007

Please avoid this place at all times. The bouncers are very rude. The place is very small and dirty. The music is bad, a lot of rap and reggae. The drinks are water downed or not really what they are supposed to be (Grey Goose/Ketel One) more like house vodka. The food portions are very small and is disgusting. Please save yourself al ot of time and aggravation. KUSH LOUNGE IS HORRIBLE!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: NOTHING Cons: EVERYTHING more

Great night! 9/5/2007

Had a great evening celebrating my friend's new job. We were treated like VIPs and the staff was really attentive. Loved the music and the drinks! Pros: great service, delicious food, great drinks more

Horrible treatment and bad music 8/13/2007

I had a party at Kush for my birthday. All the details were worked out beforehand and I was promised that there would be no covers, and was given the name of the manager at the bar should I have any trouble. \r \r Unfortunately the manager was very rude and although I brought 50 people to his bar, he charged every single one of them a cover which he claimed was a discount but was very obviously the price that every other person at that bar was paying. He was rude to me and all my guests throughout the night and gave each new person that came a hard time at the door. The sad part is that if they had not said they were part of my party, they would have been fine.\r \r I would not recommend this place to anyone seeking to throw a party. It was admitted by the management at the bar after the fact that there was a lack of communication and the manager working that night, Sirus (Cyrus?), was very unaccommodating and did a great job of making sure that the first half of my night was spent trying to make sure my friends could get in and apologizing for the bad treatment they were given at a bar I asked them all to come to. \r \r I came here because I was guaranteed a good time with no hassles and no cover, but it proved to be anything but. We had a good time in the end only because we had a group of friends all together, but we would have been much happier anywhere else. Cons: Bad treatment, impolite staff more

not what we thought! 7/23/2007

let me start by saying Im not some bitter person by any means .Im just going to tell you about our experience. It was my wifes b-day so I contacted someone named Indigo, I guess he's a party planner? I told him the day, size, and time of our party. He said he had an engagement party that night until 10:30.I told him no problem and that we would be in at 10:30pm, he said that would be fine. bottle service for eight people, minium of two bottles for 250.00 dollars a bottle we said no problem and we would be able to have a choice of three areas to sit.I chose this place because it looked cool on the internet and sounded great. So we all arrived at 10:25pm 5 mins early. I told guy at door I had a res. He said he had nothing on his list like that! I made the res,3 weeks prior and talked to indigo 2 times. The booze was pretty watered down except for the chi martini ,which we are all martini drinkers anyway it tasted very heavy with spice so much that you could not enjoy it.On the other hand the mojitos were watery! apps were ok but thats about it So let me get back to were they sat us I was told we could sit in the front room alcove which would of been cool it has privacy curtains and a nice view.So the hostess said we couldn't sit ther because they had investors sitting there, when we looked to see the investors that they were talking about , we saw a bunch of young girls that looked like they were at a birthday party! music was just alright if you like early 90's rock mixed in with a little new stuff kind of a let down. place is also smaller than I thought. So just be careful if your going to book a big party ther you probably have to stay on top of it. more

Not the same as it used to be- high prices, bad music and getting emptier 7/2/2007

Everything that used to make Cush great, the music, the friendly vibe, the style have been completely lost on the new place. Obnoxious bouncers great you at the door only to push bottles on you. Once we got in, the place was dead. The music was terrible and there were very few people dancing. For a couple hundred dollars for a bottle, there are much more fun places in the city with a lot more style and class. Pros: Decoration Cons: Service, music, and atmosphere (empty) more

Everchanging.... 5/19/2007

I havent been there in a while and went last night. Wow, this place has changed for the better.... It was great before, now its even better! Dress up and GO! Pros: Cheep bottles, great sound, great music Cons: Parking. more

SO COOL inside!!!! 3/23/2007

Kush is absolutely the place for you if you like cozy, sumptuous lounge-type clubs that are dim, romantic - I just adore this place. The bar is a Moroccan theme (I think) and everything within resembles Morocco- from the lighting fixtures, to the candles on the bar, the pillows on the chairs, everything!! Its really an awesome place. I went here for a birthday party for a friend, and we had THE BEST time...but that could have been because I was lounging on the couch with a zillion pillows and the gorgeous overhang above me- I felt like a princess!! (its the couch in the pictures above). I think Kush is really cool; it doesn't try to be too trendy, and I like that- Its just fun and reliable for a good time, not to mention the interior is just really awesome. Pros: Amazing Moroccan-themed lounge, romantic Cons: Far down south more

Great experience! 3/8/2007

Went to Kush last weekend to celebrate my bachelorette party and had a great experience. Everything from the place, the manager Giada, the service, the belly dancer and especially the music was great! We had a blast! Will definitely be back there for my next party! Giada - thank you for everything! Pros: Service, Belly Dancer, Awesome Music Cons: Parking more

Ultra Chill 3/6/2007

I stopped by Kush after a Tuesday night dinner at Freeman's Alley (literally right behind Kush) and found the place relaxed and friendly. The crowd was mellow and the four of us could sit right away in one of the alcoves. The hookah after our meal was spot. I had been to Kush on weekends when it's packed and loads of fun, but I'll definitely keep it on my mid-week short list.\r Pros: Beautiful Place, Great Bartenders, Music Cons: Hard to find more

Not what it used to be 3/5/2007

This place used to be great, now it's the latecomers who are leaving reviews saying the place is great. You obviously weren't at Kush in the good old days. Now it's an overhyped and overpriced swamp of newbies who are really arriving late to the party. Having gone several times in the past, my friends invited me out for their birthday last week so I had to go, wow the place has changed - and not for the better. Music got worse, drinks are watered down, and the quality of the people has taken a wrong turn. more

Great Place for a Large Group! 2/26/2007

I surprised the staff at Kush by bring close to 80 people, and I must tell you that they were absolutely phenomenal at accomodating everyone. The drinks came quick, the glasses were always discarded when they were finished, and Jiada (club manager) was incredibly kind and comped a couple bottles along with food and even our own little belly dance. If you go, try the apple flavored hookah and make sure you have everyone's name on the list, because no one likes to have their friends wait in the cold. The DJ that spins on Saturdays is also phenomenal so don't worry about that either. Pros: Perfect Birthday Spot Cons: Can Get Pricey more

My Best Birthday Party Ever!!!! Thank You, Kush!!!! 10/23/2006

I was very nervous about my 30th. I wanted everything to be planned properly and my guests to be treated well and I didn't want to pay too much!!! Kush was immediately very helpful and supportive and when I visited I just knew I would do my party there. The decor is unbelievable! They ended up giving me a great party package if I did my party to a Friday instead of Saturday and everything they promised they came through on! A wonderful hosting team welcomed my guests and brought them to my party room, awesome, friendly bartenders and waitresses (and even bouncers!!)really made my night so special. They also have great party hors d'oeuvres and appetizers, really good cocktails and a fun, memorable theme. The DJ's were right on top of the crowd all night and were also fun to work with, which is very rare!!!! Pros: Great Party Planning and Hosting Staff!!! more

Not So Great 10/17/2006

This place is average, the service is not good at all, everyone seems to be a bit confused. The music was too loud and the D.J. was nothing special. Unless you are looking to sit on top of your friends while buying a bottle, I would save your time and money and head out to another LES spot, there are a lot to choose from. Cons: slow, uneducated staff more

best spot in the city 9/26/2006

if ur a smoker this is heaven... got there all toked up and shared a hooka... the food was amazing and service was great-- have urself a cocktail!!!!!!!!!!!! Pros: food, ambiance Cons: location more

Chill spot with a great staff, on the edge of trendy civilization 8/28/2006

Cool little getaway from the madness of bar strips that hosts a similar feel inside - dark and a bit mysterious but welcoming and cozy. The weekend staff is mad cool and will take care of you if you act right and are looking to have a good time. The cocktails are great and even though the prices are on par with most upscale city clubs, the quality preceeds quantity - in other words you get your money's worth. Weekends get packed but not to the point of unbearable excess, but wensdays are probably the best days to go for the Brazilian party - good music, good crowd and good specials. \r Happy hour is worth checkin out too but seems to be a bit deserted now, maybe it will pick up in the fall/winter season. \r Overall worth checking out or making a night of it - if the alternative is LeSuk then I definitely vote for Kush. Pros: Outoftheway locale, chill atmosphere, nice little bite food and nice cocktails Cons: Outoftheway locale... unpredictable in crowd quality, but usually its positive more

Not Consistent 5/18/2006

The original bartenders and waitstaff were exprienced and friendly, the music was unique. Now your lucky if you have the same bartender twice. The DJ plays commercial hip hop. The door is rude, they insists that you buy a bottle to sit. I don't mind spending money on bottles. When I asked the 20 year old waitress for Perrier Jouet Fleur she looked at me like I was crazy. She then explained that they didn't sell that brand of vodka??? The staff is young and has little to No knowledge of Liquor. That's not all, when I asked for my check she not only forgot to bring me my ID but I had to use my own pen. Call me crazy, I think that if you are going to push your customers to pay to sit you should provide good service. NO MORE! SAVE YOUR MONEY! Pros: DECOR Cons: DOOR, WAITSTAFF, MUSIC more

A Great Saturday Night Out! 4/20/2006

If you are looking for a cozy spot to dance and enjoy bottle service and unique cocktails this is the place. Bottle service is required for a table but the prices are less expensive then most places, which makes it all the more reasonable. The staff was friendly and good looking. My server was knowledgeable and very attentive unlike most bottle servers, not to mention good looking! Overall I had a great time and look forward to bringing friends in the future. Pros: Service, Decor, Cocktails more

What happened to the good music/ fun guest bartenders? 4/1/2006

I used to really like chrystie street kush. but going lately has been so depressing. what happened to the awesome crowd? the music? the hot bartenders that had everyone dancing by the end of the night? lately when i have gone, the crowd is so bridge and tunnel, the music is canned commercial hip hop that wasn't good even when it first came out. i used to be a regular at the old kush,i think TUTS just opened there?) and so I was hesitant to get comfortable with the new one. with the local competition in middle eastern themed hookah bars on the rise, you would think they would stay competitive- longer happy hours, lower drink prices, or even better DJ's to make up for the pricey drinks... but instead its just a huge let down. What happened? Pros: ambience is amazing Cons: expensive, snobby, bridge & tunnel more
