Best Place in the City for a Private Event 7/29/2009

I hosted a Private Event yesterday at Kush and I have to tell you it was ABSOLUTELY AMAZING! The drinks were nothing short of WONDERFUL and the staff was extremely friendly and accomodating! In fact I loved Kush so much... That I'm hosting yet ANOTHER PRIVATE EVENT THERE.. Amazing birthday party 7/24/2009

I had my 25th bday party at kush on july 18th and we had a great time. I had about 30-40 people there in and out and we were seated in the front near the entrance. The music was great, we danced a lot, and smoked some hookah and drank a lot. The security at the door were really nice and not pretentious at all. Tim (manager) was on point when he described the place. Everything he said was exactly how it was. Surprising to find honest good people in that business who aren't trying to take advantage of you. They actually make money on honesty and great service. I didn't try the food, but will go back sometime for food. It was interesting to see how my party was dancing and drinking and other parties in the same venue were sitting and smoking hookah and drinking and they weren't bothering us and we weren't bothering them. Great place 6/25/2009

Hosted a bachelorette party for 15 girls on 6/20 and from the moment we arrived to the moment we left, we received the royal treatment. Not only was the staff friendly but, super accomodating also. No cover charge, no hassle at the door. We were greeted with a warm welcome, escorted to our table (even had a custom table sign with the name of our party) and waited on hand and foot. Bottles were priced cheaper than elsewhere too. The DJ was slammin and played the best hip/hop and r&b and later more pop and dancey stuff. We danced all night and had an amazing time. Great place for birthday parties 6/22/2009

My friend and I had our 25th birthday party at Kush. After meeting with Tim (the manager), we both felt at ease about the party. He could not have been more helpful in setting up the birthday. It was exactly what we were looking for. They roped off an entire portion of the bar at the back for our party. We arrived a little after 10pm, and everything was set up. We provided them with a guest list and none of our friends had any trouble at the door. The music was AMAZING. Our friends and I danced all night and had a GREAT time. So THANK YOU to Tim, Robin, Jessica and everyone at Kush who so nice and made our birthdays special. We had a brilliant time as did our friends. PS: The bouncers at the door wished me 'happy birthday' every time I walked in and out and the B52's are a must! Great Place for a Hookah party 6/9/2009

Recently had a small birthday party for my girl there, and the management and staff were very accomodating and courteous, especially since it was a last minute thing. Its been a while since I had been there but it is one of the very few hookah lounges that I have been too that is both clean, comfortable and hopping. Thanks again Tim! great place, super friendly staff 5/29/2009

I just went to the Girls in Technology event here the past Wednesday night and it was great! the staff was really friendly and at one point the batteries ran out on the speaker to which the manager was promptly by her side replacing them (pretty impressive). The drink specials were a good price and the special martini they had was delish! i would definitely recommend this venue to anyone looking to have a great hassle free time. I did learn one thing though that the Kush is actually pronounced Koosh... Pros: Drink specials Cons: no name outside more

Kush is a great space for Events 5/29/2009

I recently just attended an event here and I have to say this place really impressed me. The staff at Kush were extremely nice and went out of their way to make sure everyone was having a great time. The drinks were inexpensive and the Sangria was awesome!! I recommend it to anyone who visits. The DJ kept the crowd going into the wee hours of the night. I will definitely be back for happy hour and to book future events here. Pros: Best place for Birthday Parties and Events!! more

Great for Private Party- Reasonable Prices/ Management 5/15/2009

I had to organize a party for 100 people with a day's notice. The management was willing to go the extra mile to make the party a success. We needed to display something from a computer onto a projector and they really went out of their way setting everything up. They also worked with me to make sure I could get enough food and beverage for everyone but stay in my budget. This would be a perfect place for an intimate film screening as they have the appropriate equipment. Would highly recommend booking the back bar and/or the sunken lounge for a party. Pros: Has a great ambiance, A/V equipment and Helpful Management Cons: Cant think of any more

Know Before you Go 4/10/2009

I've been going to Kush on and off for years now. I love the decor, ambiance and music. BUT the Hookahs just aren't worth it. They're charging $30 for one hookah that barely lasted 30 minutes. The staff won't replace the charcoal or adjust the hookah when the tobacco starts to burn. Pros: Ambiance Cons: Hookah Prices more

Great scene 4/7/2009

I've been to Kush three times and after this past Saturday I have to say I think it's the best bar on the LES. It just doesn't disappoint. The music's great, the scene is super cool, and it's not expensive for what they're offering in terms of scene, etc. I took friends there who were visiting from Los Angeles and they were blown away. I planned my husband's birthday party for the second year in a row in Kush Lounge. We had an amazing time. Our friends were very impressed. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Beautiful place, great DJ + drinks 3/29/2009

I went here last night for my friend's birthday and we had a great time overall. They reserved 2 tables for us even though we didn't want bottle service (which nowhere else would do), and our waitress was wonderful, though a bit slow (probably understaffed). Drinks were really well-mixed and specialty cocktails were great - but way too expensive for a group of college kids. The DJ played really fun music and listened to requests. They charged guys $10 after midnight even though they were on our list (which they didn't tell us). The place is absolutely beautiful inside and lots of fun. Middle Eastern Paradise 3/22/2009

I hadn't been there for some time since it moved, but wow! when I walked in it seemed like a den in morocco with the aged walls curving to a central middle room. The drinks were made with fresh ingredients and the surprise came when the food arrived-it was fantastic, especially the spicy chicken sliders. The happy hour is good too I found by accident. Great time again 3/21/2009

I'm a frequent bar goer on the lower east side and have loved Kush since it first opened. But starting a year or so ago the place started to lose it for me. However, I'm happy to say that the Kush I love and remember IS BACK! I wonder if they're under new management or something. What I love about Kush is it's great vibe. It's beautiful and puts me in a good mood right away. Personally I skew towards an ethnically diverse, sometimes artsy sort of crowd (my worst nightmare is a sports bar full of loud investment bankers). Kush fits the bill perfectly. Great new attitude 3/17/2009

Vastly improved. I used to go to Kush every couple weeks a few years ago and then the vibe seemed to shift so I stayed away. Had I listed to some recent reviews I would not have come back. But a friend had a party there and the place is really getting back to its roots and what does best: provide a unique place to have relaxed drink or party late into the night. Glad it's back! Guy at the Door with a Complex and Something to Prove 3/16/2009

Cheers to freedom of speech and the internet... I went to Kush on Saturday night and some short guy at the door asked me to leave because I refused to check my coat. Apparently he had something to prove and needed a power trip. If I were anyone thinking about going to Kush, I would think twice... If you are interested in going to a pretentious, obnoxious lounge where the guy at the door tells you that ""This is not a free country, it is a private establishment, and you can have a good night,"" then Kush is the place for you! My girlfriend and I made an early reservation on a Saturday evening at Kush Lounge expecting just to have a bite to eat and some hookah. We decided to stay as the place was changing the vibe from a laid-back lounge into a club like atmosphere. We ended up ordering a bottle of champagne and danced the night away. Waste of time 1/25/2009

I decided to try out Kush but I totally regret it. I reserved a table for 8 people prior to going there yet, we were squeezed into the corner table and barely had room to move. I ordered the chicken slider and kafta slider both were horrible and really miniature. The chicken was better than the beef/lamb however, both were really bland and unflavorful. I also ordered 2 Ama margarita which supposedly had patron in it but I highly doubt it. I'm a cheap date so after the 2nd margarita I should have felt something. I get buzzed from a chipotle margarita for christ sake. We also had some issues with the hookah but they insisted that it was ok. Thank god my friend who is an avid smoker was there and she fixed it! Our waitress was ok, a little on the ditzy side but she was attentive. The manager at this place is also an assh***, our table was trying to have fun and liven up this really dull establishment but I guess that must be against their policy. Overall, if you're looking for a dull night with overpriced drinks and bad hookahs sure go there. Pros: decor Cons: staff, food, hookah more
