I was young and a little lost in my life, I was a single mom and I knew I was not ready to take on the financial responsibility of a bigger family. I met with Joel and after our meeting I knew Kirsh & Kirsh were going to help me find an amazing family for my children. Now 15 years later I am planning my second visit with my twins and their family! Adoption is nothing like it use to be. I wish we had found Kirsh when we started our adoption journey. When we started, we did not know anyone that had completed a successful domestic adoption in the last 5 years. We tried a less expensive agency, but it was not a good fit. Kirsh did a really good job of talking us through match situations and helping us assess risk. After a painful failure with a different agency, we felt Kirsh and Kirsh was our bright light in the dark forest of adoption. After having a bad situation with a less professional agency, I would recommend Kirsh to everyone! They are professional and caring. They keep you informed about your adoption and what is happening in their group. They call you and response to email. Every time you speak with them, they make you feel hopeful. When pursuing adoption, you need a team that will guide, advise and deliver. Kirsh & Kirsh is your team. As a couple from New York adopting our infant son from Indiana, we hadn't a clue of the Indiana adoption laws. Referred to Steve Kirsh through our New York adoption lawyer, we became immediately confident we were in capable hands. Prior to our birthmother's due date, the office of Kirsh & Kirsh thoroughly advised us as to what preparations needed to made, both legally and personally. Once our son was born, the speed with which Steve Kirsh filed and finalized the necessary legal documents was remarkable. Our New York attorney commented that the process simply does not move faster than what Kirsh was able to achieve. Our son was born on a Sunday night, at 11:30pm. Steve Kirsh was at our birthmotherâ??s bedside by 9:00am Monday morning with the appropriate paperwork to begin the process. By 3:00pm, I was holding our son in the hospital room while Steve called our birthmother with the Indiana judge on the phone to finalize the adoption. In under 24 hours from the time of our sonâ??s birth, we were able to call our family and friends to announce his arrival, knowing that he was legally our child. Further, we were able to return to New York by the end of the week once Kirsh made the necessary arrangements for state clearance through the ICPC. Because of Kirsh & Kirsh, the final stage to realizing our dream of starting a family could not have been easier. I cannot say enough good things about the people at Kirsh & Kirsh. Their professionalism blended with their huge hearts and how much they care about each and every individual was amazing. My wife and I were always well informed, received timely responses and they were able to accommodate all of our requests. I have heard people say that doctors make the worst patients - well, I believe the same is true with lawyers as clients. We had the pleasure of working with Kirsh and Kirsh to adopt our son Aidan. As one can imagine, the process of adopting a child can be an emotional and stressful experience. However, I cannot think of anyone I would rather have guiding me through the process than Steve and Joel Kirsh and the staff at their firm. When we had questions there was always someone available to take our call and provide answers. And, if something had to be researched or looked into they always got back to us in a timely manner. They were not only accessible, but also approachable. (I really appreciated that as I got closer to our son’s expected arrival date they were very patient with my neurotic-first-time-mother questions and reassured me that everything would be okay!) The fact that Kirsh and Kirsh did all the work to find her through the Directed approach took that stress off of our plate so that we could focus on preparing to become parents. And, although they always made it clear that the firm represented us, they answered any of our birthmother’s questions so that she had the information she needed to continue with her adoption plan. I know that she appreciated having a resource to call on and I was grateful that she didn’t feel alone during what was a very emotional and difficult time for her. Integrity, compassion, and genuine care are the first words/phrases that come to mind when we think of Kirsh and Kirsh. My husband and I adopted our son through Kirsh and Kirsh. They came highly recommended to us through close friends. Our entire adoption process took eight months from beginning to end. We are not from Indiana and worried that this would make the process longer and more difficult. It couldn't have gone any smoother. Kirsh and Kirsh is a family owned and operated firm, and it shows. Both of my kids came via the neon stork, but both adoptions were quite different. Kirsh & Kirsh and their staff handled everything as close to perfectly as one could hope. Adoption #1 was pretty smooth--couple of hiccups but nothing that would have jeopardized the adoption. I remember Steve giving me a reality check that put things in perspective. I know someone who did an adoption with another attorney and was bragging about how little it cost. Yes, but a few months later, she had issues that Kirsh and Kirsh had already addressed. I paid a bit more, but I was able to sleep soundly at night knowing that my son's adoption was done correctly. Adoption #2 was different. Steve sarificed time with his family on his birthday to handle our consents. And, this was a high risk adoption for many reasons, but throughout the process, we were aware of possible scenarios and our rights vs. the right thing to do. Thanks to Joel's advice and the help of the update coordinator, things turned out really well. We and the kids have good relationships with both birthfamilies and that's due mostly to the groundwork laid by Kirsh and Kirsh. I can't thank and praise them enough. more

Incredible is the first word that comes to me and my husband's mind when thinking about the help of Steve and Joel Kirsh and their office staff during our adoption process. We had consulted with several agencies when researching adoption and we never felt any of them were a good fit for us. When we left the office of Kirsh and Kirsh, almost simultaneously in the car, my husband and I let out a huge sigh of relief and said ""this is where our child is going to come through"". It was a huge relief to know that Steve and Joel have been helping birthparents and adoptive families find each other for over thirty years....that is the expertise we wanted. We wanted to make sure that the birthmother was treated with the highest respect and that the baby was the focus of doing what was right. We immediately knew that this was the case with Steve Kirsh. After signing up with Kirsh and Kirsh, every step of the process is thoroughly explained and you are guided through it. We would call or email and have a response to our questions within hours and many times, within MINUTES! It was not unusual to wake up and have an early morning email (like 4am early!) from Steve. We were blessed to be matched with a birthmother within a month of completing all the necessary steps to be placed on the adoptive family waiting list. Despite our adoption being out of state and thus, us needing to retain an out of state attorney, Steve was still very much involved and helpful as we would often use him as a resource to double check everything. We have experienced one of the most beautiful things in the world, adopting a beautiful baby, and we are certain that the experience was so great because of the guidance of Steve and Joel Kirsh. After years of working with an agency on an international adoption we were very disillusioned with the whole process and ready to give up. Communication was poor and we felt like just a number - there was no personal connection with the people who were supposed to be helping us build our family. I am always telling my husband how I should be an advocate for Kirsh and Kirsh and our daughter should be the poster child for adoption. I am a mother. I know the sorrows of losing a child and also know a miracle when my son beat all odds and survived birth. We met Steve Kirsh not by choice but by chance. We wanted to share the Steve Kirsh that we know. He is the same man, but very few of you know that he is a true, real life “Angel”. He volunteers his time and his plane with an organization called “Angel Flights”. Angel Flights provides plane flights for children that are sick and need to go away from home to get the medical care that they need. My son is one of those children. He has a cluster of medical problems including Autism Spectrum disorder. I was told to take him down to Georgia for a muscle biopsy. Being a single mom, this was a huge expense. How was I going to get this done? This wonderful organization “Angel flight” was willing to get us there and home. Getting him there had been solved. The next biggest challenge was how to get my son into a small plane with all of his sensory issues and he was scared, so was I. It was our “Angel” Steve that with his kindness, compassion and his belief in my son that we did it. He calmed his fears, taught him awesome things about flying, and will forever be in our hearts. There are no words to express my admiration for Steve. “Thank you” is not big enough words. He did what I have been doing all of his life, listening to him, feeling his difficulties with the bombardment of life and not judging him. In just moments “Angel” Steve “got” my son. He listened; he gave him confidence and reassurance. He is our “Angel”. This was all voluntary; it was not something that Steve Kirsh had to do and this was Thanksgiving; time to be with your family. He was volunteering his time flying us to Georgia. My son now loves to fly; he says its “soaring like the birds”. I want to leave you with these thoughts. There are Angels in disguise all around us, they are real everyday people. Never “judge a book by its cover”, there is so much more inside. Lastly, “please be kinder than necessary because everyone is fighting their own battles”. I do not know the authors of these quotes but I live by them.
