In response to Nick t's review:\r The request was for a new deed, not a deed modification. The quote for a new deed was estimated to be between $100.00 and $150.00. Because the deed was going to a Trust, an additional document, a Trustee Certificate, was required under MA law. \r The total invoice was $177.00.\r This included: obtaining a copy of the deed from the Registry, communications regarding the trust, drafting the deed and the Trustee Certificate, sending both out for signatures, receipt of executed instruments back and recording those with the Registry and forwarding recorded instruments to Nick t.\r The total invoice over the quote was $27.00 (which included overnight postage fee.) This amount is 18% over the high end of the quote of $150.00.\r If Nick t. would like a refund of his $27.00, please e-mail me or call the office. more

I needed a lawyer for a small modification to a real estate deed with Barnstable county. They seemed awful nice and quoted me a fair price, so I hired them. The total amount of work was to modify an existing document by a few words and file it. Wow was I surprized when I got the bill. Not only was the bill a whopping 77% over the quoted service price, but they charged me an incredible 2.5 hours of work. I called the contact there to investigate and the answer I got was that the job took more work than expected. So I hope you all got a laugh - I sure didn't find it very funny. I paid them their highway robbery fee and informed them that there would of course be no further business with them. As lawyers I can't really vouch for their quality, but their honesty leaves a lot to be desired. more
