My dog stayed a couple weeks ago and it was imprerative he had his meds and it was obvious by his behavior (severe thirst, lythergy and throwing up) he was not given his much need...

Thanks! 1/3/2011

Thanks for the TLC you give Shasta while we're away...it means so much to us! more

Thank you 12/29/2010

I want to thank you for all the gentle and caring love you shared with our dog Lacy. We always felt comfortable leaving her with you, knowing that she would be well cared for. Your demeanor and attitude towards Lacy always gave us confidence that you really enjoy your work. more

Pet Boarding and Grooming 12/13/2010

The folks at Just Four Paws are exceptional at customer service and pet care. I have always been treated like a friend more than a customer and I know pets get the safest and best pet care in Austin. The owners even helped out a friend from Mississippi that had to board two elderly pets while the owners wife was in Houston have a cancer treatment. The pets were both blind and fragile but treated tenderly and carefully. What a great facility more

Once again my dog came home sick 7/9/2010

My dog stayed a couple weeks ago and it was imprerative he had his meds and it was obvious by his behavior (severe thirst, lythergy and throwing up) he was not given his much needed medication on a timely basis. While I think there are some true animal lovers there I think I will need to board him where I can be sure he is given meds on the specific time schedule we requested, after all there is suppossed to be someone there 24 hours a day. Pros: sometimes you will get a smile Cons: don't think they write specific instructuions down more

Fantastic 2/23/2010

This is a great place! I have used them for boarding on a couple occasions while I was away on business more

Don't know how my dog is being treated 12/1/2009

I had a Newfie who is now deceased and currently have a Great Pyrenees that I took to Just Four Paws. I used to take them both on the same day, but wanted to make it easier for the owner, so I alternated days. One day, after grooming, my Newfie came home and drank so much water that she threw it up. It sounded like a tub of water was thrown on the floor. I don't think she'd had any all day. Pros: Price Cons: Lots of Them more

There are better places to bring your pet 11/11/2008

I usually take my dog to a daycare/boarding place she loves in downtown Austin, but it's a 30 min. drive so I decided to try J4P. The first time my dog stayed for dayare she was drooling excessively when I picked her up. I didn't even realize it was drool and assumed her mouth was wet because she drank water just before I came. The person at the front asked me about the drool, but I didn't put two and two together because she never drools like this at home. I took my dog there a second time and again, drooling mess when I picked her up. The drool was so bad, her face was sopping wet with mucus dripping off of it. This time I realized something might be wrong and did some research. I learned that sudden excessive drooling is an indicator of several serious health issues that could result in death. She has never had this problem at 2 other boarding/daycare facilities she's stayed at for weeks at a time. Because their staff didn't recognize this as abnormal behavior, it made me uncomfortable to leave my dog there again. more

Don't believe what you read. 8/7/2008

I am currently working at J4P and I can honestly say that this is truly the best place to bring your dog. This is not your typical kennel where they just put your dog in a cage and leave it. On average the dogs get 6-8 hours of playtime each day with the other dogs. We separate the dogs depending on size and temperament and we always have somebody watching them 24 hours a day. We never put more than one dog in a run unless it is family and the owners know about it prior to boarding. more

Not the best 2/8/2008

This place has a few problems. Yes it is hard to get answers either via phone, fax, email. They are very understaffed for that size of a kennel. The dogs are looked after people that are not licensed or trained under any type of protocol. There are other kennels in town that do have ample protocol for providing a safe environment for your pets. The dogs do like being there, but the small ones are mixed in with large ones and dogs that have issues are left in their cages for long periods of time. Dogs that aren't fixed don't get to interact either in case you think they do. Mostly they could just use some more staff and a knowledgeable staff. I found the owner to be a bit uncaring and not really in tune with the idea of customer service. Pros: gets your pooch pooped Cons: dirty and unsafe more

Great Experiences at Just Four Paws 11/28/2007

I have always had a great experience at Just Four Paws. I've met the owner, Mark numerous times and found him to be friendly and helpful, along with the rest of the staff. My dog has stayed there on several occasions. They are always accomodating to my dog's needs (food, medicine, a little frightened by other dogs). My dog has always been happy and exhausted from all her socializing when I pick her up. Pros: Friendly Staff Cons: Location, Sometimes tough to get on the phone or get a return call more

Boarder Beware! 11/6/2007

Did not like the owner one bit. Very rude and aloof. Pros: staff Cons: owners, filth more

Read this if you care about your dog 10/6/2007

One bit of advice - make sure to tip one of the employee so they can call you if something goes wrong. Mark (the owner) does not like to bother owners with bad news. He is usually very good with animals, its just that he likes to wait a few days before getting them to the vet when they are sick. he saves money to the owners and most animals won't die from a few days delay. When you throw forty dogs into one room with only one girl watching - anything can happen. Also, make sure to ask the staff if your dog had its own run. In busy season we used to double book two dogs in the same run (without telling the owner). Pros: Great Staff. Cons: Dirty smelly cages, No A/C, no supervision more

Best Kennel in the Austin area... hands (or paws) down! 6/14/2007

This is easily the best experience that I have ever had with a kennel... I only wish I would have found them before going to any other Austin kennels (all of which were terrible). We've been going to them for nearly a year now... and my dog loves it there! She always comes home exhausted from playing so hard with the other dogs. This is the only kennel that my dog has ever not been happy to see us at when we come to pick her up... she tries to go back inside! Pros: Owners give great service, dogs absolutely loves it, inexpensive Cons: Owners are hard to get on the phone often (because they are taking great care of the animals!), Oh no... this kennel smells like a kennel! more

Best Kennel Ever 10/31/2006

I have been taking my dog there for years, and she loves it. Every time we drive up, she can't wait to go inside, and she usually sprints to the door before I can get out of the car. It completely takes the guilt out of leaving my dog at the kennel. more

DOGS LOVE IT 4/15/2006

Like many dog lovers I hate to leave my dogs behind when I go on a vacation they can't acompany me on. I at least leave with a peace of mind that they will get attention and have fun playing with other dogs while I am away. The times I have left my dogs at this facility they always seem to have had a good time. Pros: Large play yards, Lots of attention, Staff spoils dogs Cons: Far from my home. more

They must not need the business 12/7/2005

My wife and I will be in the Austin area the week prior to Christmas...we were referred to Four Paws to board our two dogs. more

I totally disagree 8/31/2005

I 100% disagree with with Sammy. I had a GREAT experience at the kennel. I found Jessica and Marc to be very helpful. I thought that it was a great place for our dogs to go and I can't imagine anyone not being happy with Just 4 Paws. I think this other lady is crazy and needs to get a life. One of the 2 owners is never there, so there is no way that she met both of them. I have been taking my dogs there since they opened almost 5 years ago and I would reccomend them to anyone. One last thing...It's a kennel. Therefore, it is not going to smell like roses. Anyone else that isn't crazy would understand that. Pros: Great atmoshere, Very nice people, Inexpensive more

Horrible, horrible place. 8/15/2005

Completely disgusted and perturbed with this facility. The owners were aloof and cold and their customer service was horrid. Definitely DO NOT recommend. Walked through to see kennels and the smell was almost unbearable. Pros: nice looking outside Cons: stench of the kennels, pretensious managment more
