WILL GIVE IT ANOTHER TRY! 8/28/2010

Went to Juliette tonight to try the mussles as they are always really good there. We were fortunate enough to get one of the best tables on the deck overlooking 5th street. Our waitress Helana was fantastic. She made us both feel right at home and had a thorough knowledge of the menu. I would definately give the service a five star rating. We were somewhat dissappointed with the mussles. We could only order the ""special"" mussles which were spicey and served with merguez sausage,.Hardly French! We left feeling short changed,.We will however return to give it another try and next time we will make sure that we can order the mussles cooked with white wine, tomato and garlic! more

Will return. 10/7/2009

We stumbled across this place after being very disappointed about Egg being closed next door.. Too hungry and tired to walk any further than a foot away, we decided to give it a shot even though the prices on the outside menu startled us a bit. Pros: Atmosphere, staff, food Cons: Prices more

great spot... 6/1/2008

ive been here about five times and always had good fresh food, was there again the other day and had a crabcake appetizer special which was amazing, and i know crabcakes having spent lots of time in MD. the garden and roof are awesome and the service is good. prices are about right for a place that looks like this... newsflash, when someone spends hundreds of thousands building a resto... the drinks arent gonna be $4... haters be gone. Pros: amazing space, great food Cons: dont think they do lunch yet more

Way overpriced, questionable food, nice roofdeck 3/30/2008

Worth going for drinks on the roofdeck, skip dinner. Pros: roofdeck Cons: food more

bad bad bad....... 2/13/2008

It is very disappointing to have to write such a review but to my fellow williamsburgers(!), I will save time and money.... i like french food eventhough I am italian, but when the french are taking us for idiots it is very annoying! Yes, this restaurant serves the worst food I have ever eaten in my whole life! Pros: ambiance Cons: food more

best worst french food 2/12/2008

I had been recommended to go to juliette from friends that went there for brunch so my girlfriend and I decided to go there one sunday night. It was one of the worst experience I have had in dining out in NYC. What do those people think? that because the neighbourhood is changing they can serve ""de la merde"" to customers and charge big bucks for it!!! The chicken was like chicken ""perdue"", you know the one that has no bones because it has been raised without moving, disgusting..... only the polenta is organic that is for sure! My girlfriend had the lamb chops and for $24 you expect good meat and vegetables but again it was extremly disappointing.... Pros: decor Cons: food- staff more

Surprisingly Good 10/8/2007

I came here with a friend last week, we decided to have an early dinner (5:30) and so went to try. We sat inside, rooftop seemed nice but I hate b ugs and the stuff from the air that can get in your food. Decor-wise, the place is very cute and comfortable. Since we were the only ones eating, we had attentive service from our waiter. Food did not take long to come out, we had this AMAZING gnocchi with maine lobster (this was a special). I never had great gnocchi before, it is usually dry when I have it but this was just right and tasty and good portions lobster meat. We also had the crab cakes, which were good but I've had better. My friend had the cod as a entree which was very good (and I normally don't eat seafood but I liked it) and I had the special with was beef tenderloin and short rib. Both pieces were succulent, juicy, and tender and flavorful. Was so full from the appetizers though so took it home and microwaved the next day and was still pretty good! The side of mashed potatoes was creamy and good too. Overall I enjoyed our food and the place itself. Only thing that bothered me was that the waiter was a bit overbearing, but again I think it was because we were the only ones there at the time. Pros: had great good, enjoyed the ambeince more

A bit too big for its French britches... 8/14/2007

The only thing this place has going is the great atmosphere. I had been here before for brunch and it was fine. Excited to have dinner on their rooftop, a friend and I returned for dinner. If not for the great rooftop dining area, it would have been one of the worst dining experiences I have had in the New York City region. Pros: Great atmosphere Cons: Rude inattentive waiters, slow service, below average food more

Slow service 6/6/2007

I have gone to this restaurant twice so far, each time leaving the place disappointed. It is a very charming bistro with lots of detail and the atmosphere is fun, but the service and food just doesn't live up to its decor. When I went there with a friend for dinner, they kept on trying to seat people right next to us, even though the restaurant was empty. Everyone would subsequently ask the waiter if they can be seated elsewhere, and it was irritating that this ordeal continued throughout our dinner. The service was extremely slow and aloof. It took close to 20 minutes to get our drinks, and whatever we asked our waiter to bring, we had to ask someone else for the second time. The burger I ordered had a weird smell and frozen fries were unappetizing. I couldn't bring myself to eat it, so I took (re-ordered) the spicy chicken entree. This was bland and reminded me of asian-inspired frozen dinners... My friend's special lamb entree was actually good, and I'm sure there are other items on the menu I've overlooked, but I won't go back unless the service improves... Pros: Charming details, Roof seating Cons: Slow service, Average food more

Juliette -- Je t'aime pas 6/3/2007

I went late on Sunday night. The initial impression is good. Beautiful decor and good atmosphere. That's where is got bad. The waiter fluffed the drink order several times and we gave up and accepted what we got after sitting too long and looking at the cocktails languishing on the bar. Pros: atmosphere decor Cons: food -- but why else do you go to a restaurant .. and the service too! more

Amazing space, Friendly attentive staff and good food. What more do you want? 2/23/2007

This is one of my favorite bistros in NYC. I actually live near the ""French row"" on Smith St., and would rather hop on the G train to go to Juliette than go to my local bistros. The food is much better, the brunch is amazing, and you can't beat the atmosphere. more

Hope the food was a New Year's Fluke! 1/31/2007

We went to Juliette on a whim on New Year's Eve and were happy to see that we could be seated without a reservation. While the ambiance was charming and comfortable, the food was distinctively SUBPAR. The lobster bisque was runny, the tuna tartare was actually too much and overseasoned, and the beef wellington was dry. We had really high hopes for the place since we are in the neighborhood but it fell short of our expectations. We hope it was a New Year's Eve fluke, since it was prix fixe. Service was good, but something about our whole experience was little off. Pros: Cute decor, good wine list Cons: Food doesn't live up to the decor more

Ambience can't compensate for hideous service, inedible food 1/30/2007

The ambience in Juliette is spectacular, there is no argument. Maybe hanging there for drinks at the bar would be an better idea than staying for a meal. Pros: ambience Cons: incredibly poor service, inedible food more

What happened!!! 11/7/2006

I used to be a regular at Juliette since its opening. I had grown friendly with the people working there (a young energetic and fun bunch, as well as great waiters!), and loved my sunday brunch, especially upstairs. Pros: Used to be good... Cons: Distasteful service, below average food all too often, overpriced more
