burger joint 3/21/2006

Johnny Rockets is a burger joint with an old fashioned diner decor. They make spectacular milkshakes (hold the whipped cream) and great thick fries, but just average everything else. If you're on the Promenade, it offers fun decor, but there are so many other great choices near by. Bring change for the jukebox. more

Not worth it! 3/20/2006

Johnny Rockets is a chain that has mediocre food and expensive prices. If you're on the Third Street Promenade, there are much better places you can find to eat at! For a good burger, you're much better off at In-N-Out - you'll get better food at a fraction of the cost. more

Simple Meal on the Promenade 2/27/2006

With all the options available on the Promenade, it can sometimes be hard to keep your wits about you and make a choice--especially if you're reeeeeeally hungry! Johnny Rockets offers a solution in that you know what to expect, and can be confident you'll be left satisfied. Order yourself up a burger, shake, and fries, then hit the streets and enjoy the sights. more

Delicious All-American Food in Vintage Style 11/1/2005

Want to travel back to the fifties for just a half hour. Then definately visit your nearest Johnny Rockets. They have some of the juiciest burgers you will ever find. There fries always seem crisp. And the milkshakes are always in large portions and the perfect compliment to any of their dishes. Prices are unfortunately not also in the theme of the fifties era. But they will not break your wallet. Expect mid-to-high ranged prices, including a burger for probably five dollars. However, this time it is well worth the price. The staff are always extremely outgoing and friendly. And the food, the food is, as mentioned, so filling and delicious. As a suggestion, make a meal out of their chili-fries along with a milk shake or, even better, a malt. Their malts are excellent. With many locations, you are bound to find one near you. And if you do, try it, because Johnny Rockets is definately worth the trip. more

  • In Short
Vintage Coca-Cola ads and posters of Life magazine covers succinctly summon up the 1950s, as do this diner's mini-jukeboxes, red vinyl counter stools and sock-hopping staff....
