Stay Away 11/24/2011

Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place of business. Not only are they completely incompentent, they have one of the worst levels of customer service I have ever encountered. I have had to repeated calls after broken promises of unfinished repairs and follow up. When one of their technicians came and left my appliances in worse shape than how they found it, I complained to Nikki the office manager. She reprimanded me for daring to complain about one of her staff members. Meanwhile, they were very quick to bill me for close to $1200 and after two months of my constant calling them to see where the status of my repairs are, things are still not working. They have a stack of complaints against them on the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately, the BBB has no authority to do anything but to call them and Jimmy Z, of course, doesn't respond to most of the complaints. The only recourse for past customers, who have been cheated out of their money and time, is to write reviews such a more

HORRIBLE--Stay Away 11/23/2011

So in a nutshell, they are awful technicians and their customer service is even worse with absolutely no communication. They have a stack of complaints against them on the Better Business Bureau. Unfortunately, the BBB has no authority to do anything but to call them and Jimmy Z, of course, doesn't respond to most of the complaints. The only recourse for past customers, who have been cheated out of their money and time, is to write reviews such as these in the hopes of warning other potential victims of this totally incompetent and unethical business. They need to be put out business. more

Horrible Customer Service - and Untrained Technician 5/15/2011

I give them 1 star becasue there is nothing lower! After having a tech come out to look at our ice machine (no ice being dropped into the tray) we were told ""it can't be fixed, you will need a new one and I need $150 up front."" I asked him don't you want to even look at it? He said ""No, once they stop they are done and the parts inside it cost more than a new one so this is cheaper"". I said ok but that I didn't want to put $300 to $400 into a $800 refridgeraor when I could just buy a whole new one. He told me that this was the way to go. So, we paid him, he left and the next day our ice machine is working again. We called back to cancel the now unecessary ""repair appointment"" and were told that the remainder of our $150 would be mailed back to us (minus $87 for just showing up and not fixing anything) on next Tuesday. That was acceptable to us since we knew about it before we scheduled with them. Later that same day a very nasty woman named Nikki called and said we would ""not be getting any money back and we still owed her for the rest of the cost of the ice machine - $220."" I explained to her that the tech had simply made a mistake and so we would not need an ice machine setting on a shelf when this one worked just fine now. She said ""You need a new one becasue you don't know if it will be working tomorrow morning."" I said by that logic I didn't know if it would be working for another five years and that I would take the chance. At that point Nikki became quite loud and excited (angry) and told me I was ""being ridiculous"" and that she ""would have the owner call me."" No one ever called me and it's been two weeks now. I have called back twice to ask them when I can expect the money to be repaid to me but after the phone is transferred to this 'Nikki person' (not sure of her title, if any) she just hangs up on me. At this point I have filed complaints with Consumer Affairs, the Better Business Bureau and depending on how long they take to pay me back and how many hours I put into collecting the money - I may have to file a small claims suit to collect. The lawyer from the BBB that contacted me said that they are liable for the money owed, repayment for my time spent trying to collect at $50 per hour (my current wage) and mental anguish of dealing with Nikki and Jimmy Z's (laughable) customer support. more

Don't waste your time 8/21/2010

Don't waste your time. I got a quick response to our oven going out and they came out the next day. Their tech was really nice and knowledgeable about the situation. We paid the $90 bucks for the assessment and the tech said he'd call back the next day with the estimate for the parts we needed. He never called back and it took over a week of me calling to try and chase down anyone that could give me an answer. \r Finally, they said they located the two parts and that they needed a deposit of $400 (1/2 of the total of $800 for parts and install) to order them. I gave them our c.c. and they said they'd call once they called the company to order the parts to find out when they'd arrive so they could be installed.\r A week went by and not a word. I called them, they said they'd have to look it up and get back to me. Another two days and nothing, I called back. They said they'd look it up and call back. Nothing... I called the next day and they said they got one of the parts and they'd call me back to let me know the status of the other one. Nothing for 3 more days. I looked up my c.c. info and there were luckily no charges. \r I then googled other people's reviews of Jimmy Z and found that other people were having similar problems. \r These guys looked great at first, but 4 weeks of me chasing them down, no returned calls and still no oven repair. After reading other people's reviews and questioning their legitimacy I called them back and said to waive off the parts and called someone else to help us. \r Then, they were so rude and couldn't understand why. \r Hmmm, maybe better customer service and calls back. more

(More) I highly recommend you avoid Jimmy Z Appliance Services at all costs. No one from this company has attempted to contact me to resolve the harm/damage they did to my refrigerator. They did a service repair to put in a small drain heater that was installed and wired into the fan motor damaging the motor and it fried the control board. The refrigerator stop working and it was only 1 1/2yrs. old. When I called and sent a letter to resolve this issue I got no response. Company's earn the right to serve customers. I had a negative experience 8/8/2010

Had a leaky refrigerator. Tech came out next day, though 4 hours late without notice. Put in a new defrost timer, great. Then oops, 2 days later we realize that the ice cubes never froze, the milk smells funny...the thing wasn't cold at all, had to throw out everything. Tech came out again, and said the first tech simply didn't ""attach"" the piece correctly. Fixed it, but next day the same old leak came back again. Called them next day 10am, they said they'd call back, never heard back. I called 5 hours later that day, and I got a snippy rep on the phone, ""I SAID I'd call you back."" Whole day came & went, nothing from them. I was on the phone every single say about this until they finally put me on with a man named Jimmy. I requested my $300 back, but he only agreed to half, saying ""This day and age, it doesn't work like that. The only thing I can do is get another guy out there again."" I told him that was unacceptable, since we already had 2 different techs fail to repair. I told him I can put a dispute through my credit card company, and he said ""fine"" and actually hung up on me before I could tell him I will be putting in a claim for grocery compensation. We lost $$ groceries, not to mention lost work time because I had to stay home and pump for our baby, since all his milk was lost (he's on a milk-only diet). Steer clear! more

Buyer Beware 7/7/2010

It is really unbelievable that Jimmy Z still in business. Customer service is at the very bottom of their list of priorities. We have a double microwave oven and the oven needed repair. They came to our house over a month ago and diagnosed the problem as a faulty motherboard and quoted $450 for the repair including parts and labor. We agreed and paid $200 as an advance. They came back a week later with a mother board but the motherboard did not work well with the membrane and they said they needed to now order another part. We discussed with the technician that we did not want to invest more money into an appliance that was over 10 years old. We were very specific on this and did not want to proceed if the additional part cost more than $100. He agreed and told us that if it was more than that, we would only have to pay the $85 diagnosis fee and they would refund the balance and take back the part. That was 3 weeks ago. After numerous phone calls and being told each time that someone would call us back the next day we finally got through to someone. We were told the part was $192. This of course made us not want to proceed. However today we were told by the owner that the agreement made by the technician would not be honored and that we now owed them for a motherboard that did not work. We were also told that we had agreed to purchase the $192 part when we did no such thing. In fact it was only after our several calls that we found out what the estimate was on the additional part. The owner was very rude and told us that we had two options, both of which would cost us additional money and not guarantee us a working oven. To summarize our experience with Jimmy Z Installers has led us to believe that they do not fulfill their promises and have poor customer service. more
