You Get What You Pay For -- Worth It! 4/9/2007

I've done a LOT of chocolate shopping around the world. Therefore, I do not find that Jacques Torres is all that expensive, especially not given the quality. And the superb hot chocolate is a downright bargain by comparison to other gourmet hot chocolates, here and abroad. My husband is partial to the "wicked" hot chocolate (the hot pepper one), but I prefer the classic. If you're buying their filled chocolates to eat yourself, just get them in a baggie because the box costs extra. My favorite, hands down, is the Milk Chocolate Passion Fruit. They have chocolate covered nuts, chocolate covered random other things, and shaped chocolates. This place goes nuts at Easter time, but alas doesn't put things on sale after the holiday. The biggest downside is that there's really no place to sit. more

I hate chocolate 9/13/2006

Well, not really but I am not insane for it.The everyday stuff...who cares. Unless, it is real chocolate. This chocolate. OMF Dieu : this ranks with the best ever. Godiva is nice. Lilac is lovely. But Jacques Torres is perfection. Every good Santa's helper need shop here. more

Hidden Chocolate Shop in DUMBO worth a visit 6/30/2006

This chocolate shop is worth a visit in the Fall or Winter? Why then? Well, this place has the best hot chocolate you have eveeeeeeeeeeer tasted. It's made from real chocolate! The chocolate candy at this place taste like none other. It's made differently and the people who work there will tell you all about it. The chocolates are $1.00 each but they are so worth it. A small box is very elegant to give as a give to someone special as well. more

Jacques 6/18/2006

Jacques Torres makes great chocolate. Everything from the rich chocolate and truffles. They also have this amazing hot chocolate in their mini cafe. I've also tried their in store classes and they are amazing. You learn a lot and you get free samples of chocolates. This is the place to go for great chocolate. more

Chocolate Haven 5/17/2006

Do you love the deep dark stuff? Jacques Torres is your place then. This spot has a factory and shop devoted to all things chocolate. Lines get crazy on weekends. Best bets: dark chocolate covered pretzel nubs filled with peanut butter (divine), hot chocolate in the winter and iced chocolate in the summer. Not much room to sit and enjoy your treat--plan on taking your order to go. more

Very good chocolate 11/9/2005

The chocolate may be a little pricey (I think it's about a buck a piece for a small square chocolate), but they're good. There are many selections to pick from. We got about 8 different ones and shared so that each person got to taste each one. The shop is located really close to the river, so you can grab your chocolate and a cup of coffee and head to the benches along the river and enjoy sweetness with a great view. more

A chocolate store and factory 9/22/2005

Jacques Torres Chocolate is the purveyor to many restaurants and specialty shops, but you can buy it from the source: delicious, intricately flavored chocolates--pick them out individually for a great gift box--as well as other chocolate products. The chocolate popcorn is delicious, as is the hot cocoa on a winter day. Kids love the place, especially the opportunity to watch the chocolate making process. It makes for a nice stop when you're touring DUMBO. Prices aren't cheap, but value is high. more

Mr. Chocolate's shop 8/15/2005

Food TV's chocolate chef Jacques Torres' original shop located in DUMBO is well worth the trip. They sell chocolates as well as have a mini cafe where they serve hot chocolate. The spicy hot chocolate is fantastic. You can also buy the same in powder form. The chocolates themselves are great. From various nuts dipped in fine rich chocolate to truffles and squares. Delicious from wall to wall! more
