JH Basement Finish

JH basement came highly referred by a neighbor who had recently had their basement finished by them. My wife and I were completely ""wowed"" by the work that was done in our neighbor's basement and we knew we had possibly found the right contractor for our basement project. Our initial impression of Joe was great! Joe showed up at our house on-time with a great attitude and creatively walked us through all the options to consider for the best layout of the basement. Almost immediately we agreed on a perfect layout for the best use of the space, with great options my wife and I never thought of. Joe came off as very honest and straight forward and never once used ""pushy"" type sales tactics. Joe gave us a ballpark quote for the total job and guaranteed to have a computer generated layout of the basement along with a more detailed quote within a day or two. We met with Joe a couple of days after our initial visit and reviewed the excellent computer generated layout as promised, with several other options and upgrades to consider. Joe's prices seemed very fair and my wife and I were eager to get started. Joe's team showed up in force on the agreed contract start date and within moments, hammers were swinging! Joe and his sons were excellent to work with and all the sub-contractors were top notch (many of whom have been working with Joe for more than 15 years). After initial framing was started we decided on a few changes and without hesitation Joe made it happen. Joe spent the time needed to ensure that all the finishes were exactly what we wanted, and was more than patient with several more requested changes as the project progressed. We are incredibly pleased with the finished result of our basement and we have received numerous compliments from house guests as well. In the end, we ended up with a great theater/multipurpose room with built in projector screen and speakers, wet bar and bathroom with many custom finishes, additional kids play area, and sizable guest bedroom. We bought a house in Aurora, it was built back in the 60s. The basement was in awful shape, only one room was finished and by finished I mean makeshift walls, wood paneling that was painted light purple and it smelled horrible because the crawl space was damp.\r We contacted JH Basement and they gave us several ideas that were affordable for us. Joe Hannah is the best.  My complex project in the basement included a bar, sauna, bedroom and large entertainment area.  All work was finished in a timely fashion and to my complete satisfaction. He and his crew even helped move the mail ordered futon down to the basement.  He worked hard to find good value on cabinets without sacrificing on design and quality.  He even suggested installing a cat door so the cats could get to their boxes without having to go through the finished part of the basement.  Everyone who sees my basement is extremely impressed with the beauty and design.  Joe is an honest contractor and is true to his word.  I would use him again, and recommend him unconditionally. more

Joe came over to our house to give us an estimate on finishing our basement. He was on time and had a TON of information for us. He came back again a few days later with more information and drawings for free! He then walked us through the whole process from beginning to end. We had a vision for our basement but had no idea there were so many options on design! We were very impressed by Joe's professionalism and overall knowledge of the business. My husband and I hired JH basement to finish our basement last month. We are thrilled with their work. We have even joked about moving completely into the basement because we love it more than our upstairs, Their good faith estimate was dead on, they were on time, very friendly and professional and even built an entertainment center beyond what we pictured. \r I have heard many horror stories about contractors and to honest was worried to allow someone in my home for weeks at time. I was bold enough to share this with the contractor and he was very sensitive to the issue. They loaded all the materials through our basement window to ensure my carpet wouldn't have an additional ware and tare. They even used our walk out entrance instead of our front entrance to give us more privacy. I have never heard of a contractor being so accommodating. Even the contractors sons were professional. It really is a wonderful family business. We never heard them working and were even able to freely entertain friends while they were working. The lockbox on the door was nice too because we didn't have to be home for them to work. \r Overall I am quite impressed with this business and they even finished a week early which I have never heard of! My husband and I hope to move to our dream home in the next few years and JH basement will be one of our first phone calls. more

I had my basement done about three years ago by JH Basement Finish. At the time of interview, Joe gave me an info packet that had a lot of reading materials on recouping my investment and national averages and standards. To be honest I didn't read through the whole thing because I was just interested in getting my basement done the way I wanted for the amount of money I wanted with the quality I wanted. Recently, my wife and I put our house on the market and it sold for the full asking price on the first day it was on the market - the new owners said it was the basement that ""Sold them."" Being a Christian company and coming in at a reasonable price is exactly what we were looking for. \r Our contract was for a maximum of 8 weeks and it was completed in about 7. Finding out we are going to have a little addition to the family we changed our mind a good way through the construction and Joe accommodated it for us. I called JH Basement to get an estimate. They were pleasant on the phone, answered all my questions and set up an appt (very professional). Joe showed up on time with a lovely packet that explained everything about their company. He took measurements, showed me much of the work that they had done, asked me what I envisioned and then told me what was and wasn't possible due to code restrictions. It was a very pleasant and informative meeting. He arranged a time on Friday to come back out and drop of the proposal. To our surprise when he came back, he had done a computer drawing of our basement taking into account our wants and his experience. He also presented us with a Proposal, references and a coupon for optional upgrade. He again was on time, pleasant and extremely professional. Unfortunately, we found out that my job was not secure and we had to hold off on the basement. I called Joe and he said - ""We will be here when you are ready and guarantee our price. Making such a big decision as the one to have your basement finished requires a lot of research, talking with past clients and finding out as much as you can about a company. I did all these things and it paid off!!!!! Joe came out gave us a free estimate and prepared a drawing at no charge. He was clear about would be included down to the smallest detail. He put a lock box on the door so we would not have work around his schedule. He was more than willing to work with us on any changes we wanted during construction, many of which did not even incur additional costs. Joe and his sons exemplify what we all think of in a family business, accessible, courteous and considerate. In the end, we loved all the contractors, we felt heard, and the finished project is so lovely we cannot wait for our friends and family to come over and see it. JH Basement is a definite recommend, only wish I had another basement to finish. Joe Hannah is respected even among other contractors. I'm a stay at home mom with 2 young kids so believe me, my husband I did our research before selecting a company to finish the basement. We really needed someone we could trust and I could not be happier with JH Basement. Joe's contractors were great, especially with my 3 year old who loved having 'worker men' at our house every day.
