Best

Great pre-shopping location. It's actually 2 restaurants. The upstairs is like the other Il Fornaios but downstairs is a one-of-a-kind ""Risotteria"" that has these great salmon s...

Worst

I live 3 blocks away from Il Fornaio and tried to find something tasty on the menu, but after three or four tries I've come to the conclusion that the food is just not appetizing....

Great Food! 3/28/2005

My family ate here for Easter and the food was amazing! Everything was fresh, hot and wonderful. The service was pretty slow considering they were only at 1/3 of capacity for Easter Sunday, but overall we had a great experience. Pros: Menu Variety, Ambience, Great Food Cons: Slow Service more

Horrible service/marginal food 1/30/2005

My husband and I had lunch at Il Fornaio on New Year's Day and it was a dining disaster. The waitress was extremely rude; as if eating out on New's Day was a hassle for her. The appetizer was cold and not meant to be. The portabello salad I had was submerged in some kind of mushroom broth... We walked away disgusted and thristy since our beverages were NEVER refilled, nor did our crappy waitress ask if we needed more water or tea....We paid $45 dollars for a lunch in a nice-looking restaurant. There's plenty of great restaurants in Seattle - don't waste your time or money here. more

Best in seattle 8/14/2004

I go to Seattle every year and this is my favorite resturant i love the food I always wait till Augest to come. I can't beleive someone put it down Pros: Great food, Location more

Amazing 12/5/2003

I am simply in love with this place! The food is great and the service is the BEST in Seattle - no pretensions here at all. We arrived in sweats after a day of shopping and we were treated as well or better than the people dressed to the 9's (one of my biggest tests to be honest). When we are in Seattle, I insist on going here - you will pay as much for food anywhere in town but you will NOT get treated as well. I don't care how great the food is - the service will make or break my meal every time, here you get both and an incredible atmosphere to boot! I am going with my daughter tonight, so we will see about the kid thing (she will nearly eat anything, so I don't see it as an issue). Pros: Great Food, Great Service, Great Atmosphere Cons: Not ONE more

Not the Best Italian Food 6/11/2003

Best Cosmo in town 1/22/2003

Great ambiance, good food and the wood grill smells fabulous. Deserts are awesome, but the Cosmopolitans are the most outstanding. It's a bit pricey, expect to spend some cash! more

Very Pleased! 12/20/2002

After reading some of the reviews, I wasn't sure if we would be pleased or not. I went on the advice of a friend whose opinion I trust. We were seated promptly, helped immediately & made to feel like we should be. The lobster stuffed ravioli was excellent. We also thought it a bargain compared to many. Pros: service, parking Cons: too cramped more

Excellent everything! 12/8/2002

I am puzzled at the previous negative reviews. My reservation was for 7:00 on a Saturday night, 12/7. We were seated promptly on arrival and had a very nice table for 4 near a window. Our waiter, Rob (request him if you can!) arrived very soon after we were seated. His service was friendly, helpful, and efficient. He was there when we needed him without hovering. We had the porterhouse steak, filet mignon, cappellacci stuffed with zucchini, etc., and the osso buco milan. All of us were very pleased with our entrees. We had two bottles of sangiovese with dinner - also excellent. Price was a bit steep perhaps, but not out of line with other restaurants in the downtown area. The bread was to die for! Desserts were very good as well. All in all, a fabulous dining experience which I am anxious to repeat as soon as possible! Pros: Service, Bread, Excellent food Cons: Maybe wine prices more

Very very good. 12/4/2002

I was so surprised to see that others have had a bad experience here. I've eaten here a few times and always been very pleased, and intend to go back several more times. The food is very good, the menu huge, the service professional, and the prices downstairs are better than fair. The rooms (both upstairs/formal and downstairs/informal) are lovely and invite one to linger. The wines by the glass are not so great, but that's about the only weakness I found. I recommend this place without hesitatation. Try it. Pros: Delicious food, Nice room, Professional Cons: Can be noisy at lunch more

Avoid going if you can:( 11/14/2002

We received a discount to go from our season's tickets at the Paramount and so after years of walking by we ventured in and never will again. We felt it was overpriced in comparsion to restaurants around it. The service was poor. If we would have been asked how our food was I would have sent it back. Unfortunately, there was no time before the show started to eat elsewhere by that time. We both left hungry, my husband with a stomachache and having to pay a $70 bill with only a glass of wine each. Even the bread wasn't that great:(. You only learn by trying it once. Pros: tall ceilings, clean, pricey Cons: noisy, but not busy, poor service, small wine glasses more

Looks Great, Less Thrilling 10/29/2002

At the upstairs restaurant there's great bread, OK atmosphere and service, lousy food and inflated bills. We ordered two $9.50/glass wines and returned both; those were terrible at any price. Salads were bland despite beautiful fresh-looking ingredients. Entrees looked great and tasted insipid. Lasagna Ferranese was high on ""comfort"" but lacked the burst of flavors promised by the menu. Ravioli Verdura tasted only of chard and overly-acidic tomato sauce, though artichoke chunks rocked. Manager claimed we ordered poorly, that restaurant was obligated to offer lasagna and something for vegans but these were not strong entrees. We ate only a couple bites then went to another restaurant to eat -- honest!! We won't be back. Pros: Bread, Visual presentation Cons: Bad Flavors, Bad, Expensive Wine, Parking not validated more

Fabulous Gnocchi deserve better service 10/22/2002

We still go back to the downstairs cafe because of the Quattro Fromaggi Gnocchi...They are heavenly. But every time we swear we'll never return because of the poor service, not once have we felt comfortable. They make you wait for no reason, or they seat you on top of another table, the bussing staff throws stuff at you, the food takes forever...Once complained to the manager about the wait while some tables were open. He talked to us about their policy and all kinds of other uninteresting stuff, basically he didn't care and wouldn't even apologize...He was rude. This time it will take us a while before we'll decide to go back...They have the worst service in town !!! Pros: Gnocchis Cons: Service, Atmosphere, Manager more
