I.C.E. Chatham 14

After not having a movie theatre on the Southside for many years, I was elated when Loews Cineplex Chatham 14 opened. But, over the years things have changed with the theatre. It's not as clean as it use to be and the staff is not very friendly. I'm really disappointed that the female patrons have to allow security to search their purses before they can enter the theatre. This practice does not happen in OTHER neighborhoods! Pros: It's in the neighborhood Cons: Females have to allow security to search their purses more

i send my child she 13 there all the time by her self with some friends and nothing never happens to them they make sure childs are alright.and the food is too hight.and the parking is just right.so yes it a good place. more

I like this theater. The employees are encouraged to be polite and friendly. Some meet the mark and some do not. Movie quality and sound are always good. The food is great for a theater (get the chili cheese fries). They even have a low cost ticket package which is great for families, but you cannot use the tickets Saturday night. The security is lacking as I would like to see a cop or two and there appears to be no one in the parking lot. I have never had a problem, but the screaming babies, loud patrons and other minor issues seem to be tolerated. Teenagers and adults come in through the therater exits. Sometimes they have one ticket seller and the line is too long, especially when it is cold. There are no signs posted when certain shows sell out causing you to wait in line for nothing. When you attend Loews cineplex chatham there is never anywhere to park due to people from the adjacent mall parking there and commuters parking there also. The attendents are over zealous they want to check your bags and are not friendly by any means. the concession stand is always filthy the people are NEVER friendly! They let there friends go from moviv to movie but have no problem harresing the paying customers. After two bad experiences I will never attend that show again. Other posts emphasize the Chatham 14s cleanliness, prices and the fact that they have first-run movies. All true. However, with the behavior of other movie-goers, it's nearly impossible to enjoy a movie here. In nearly every show I've ever seen here, it literally becomes difficult to hear, let alone pay attention to, the movie, with all the morons yelling at the screen and each other. DO NOT attempt to see a suspense or horror film here. More frustrating than a trip to the north side, which I'll have to do from now on. I love the cineplex located in Chatham because it's close, convenient, and clean. Pros: close to home, clean more

The Chatham Theater is just fine -- the seats are comfortable and good for viewing, it carries first-run movies, and best of all, it's on the south side. Now that the Hyde Park Theater is closed, there is no theater betweeen Burnham Plaza and River Oaks! Pros: Location more

The the cost to get into the movies are high and so are the refreshments. if you go to the movies go in the morning and before 6pm. the atmosphere is alright. It is hard to find out what movies are playing you have to go to the show to see what is playing because of their phone listing doesn't play. more
