Hurry Curry is my neighborhood go-to for Japanese curry…and spaghetti. You can’t make a bad choice...

I came here the other night, and I felt the food has declined tremendously. I ordered my usual fav pork cutlet curry and the pork was dry, overcooked, and rubbery. The curry lacke...

Good Curry!!!! 12/17/2006

I come here often enough to tell you that this place has a mighty fine chicken curry. The sauce is perfect, and the slow cooked chicken in the curry is so tender and moist. Very reasonably priced and your stomach will be satisfied. I recommend this place to anybody who likes good curry. more

Great Japenese Curry 12/10/2006

this is a great place for people who like curry but might not be an expert. I thought the food was great and i am very picky on Japenese food. I would recommend the Tokyo curry, but the portion of this meal is smaller than the others. Also top it off with the green tea ice cream to make the meal complete. The parking outside was horrible and I had to end up parking in a shady garage near there. the place is small and would not be good for parties of over 4, however the price was right and my party of two was seated promptly without a reservation. more

Man, I wouldn't have survived college without this place. Funny enough, I never actually had the curry at this place in my 4 years of living in LA.... more

Almost perfect... 11/22/2006

I've been eating Japanese curry for years now and can somewhat tell the difference between good curry and not-so-good curry. The quality of the chicken katsu is the best in the area; I recommend it more than any other place here. The curry in other establishments is a BIT better, but Hurry Curry comes close. A bit nicer inside than other places. Free valet parking. more

It made my dead grandma's mouth water... 7/17/2006

I've been to Tokyo and this place offers pretty damn good Japanese Curry. My only complaint is since they have gotten bigger you sometimes don't get the really good slow cooked chicken curry they used to always have. Regardless of the changes, this is highly recommended for any Curry lover out there. I usually order take-out but the service is fine here also. I am not a big complainer of customer service....I come from a culture where you have to practically scream to get the waiters attention. If you never had curry period and are willing to experiment, this would be the perfect place! Pros: Food is Fantabulous! Price is great! Cons: Crowded, Parking more

Excellent in every way! 1/6/2006

I love this restaurant! This has to be one of the best katsu restaurants in the whole city of los angeles (or maybe in the area). The chicken cutlet curry is the ultimate best dish at this restaurant. Second has to be the chicken pasta (if some people dont like the pasta noodles, try the chicken pasta sub rice). I love the white sauce for this wonderful dish! For the appetizer, the fried shrimp is very yummy. Last but the least, gotta love their salad dressing! oh yes, and need to come around 8 or before during the weekend nights, waiting for seats can get too long. Pros: great food, great service, good price Cons: Valet parking sucks!, Parking more

Hurry...to Hurry Curry!!! 11/11/2005

Great lunch spot even if crowded at times...the curry is excellent and it fills you up..My favorite? The chicken katsu (breaded chicken breast) curry by far...delicious!! Pros: curries of course!!! Cons: parking, rude valet in plaza more

BEST BANG for your BUCK 8/23/2005

This place is amazing. Food is wonderful, and the prices are so cheap! This great little restaurant can satisfy my lunch cravings every day of the week. Pros: FOOD, FOOOOD, FOOOOOOOD Cons: sometimes no parking more

not impressed 4/28/2005

I have to disagree with the glowing reviews here. I understand this is a popular place, but I can't see why. My Japanese-American friend and I had to try the chicken cutlet curry, but we weren't impressed at all. She absolutely hated it, and didn't find it at all authentic, especially the too-thick consistency of the curry sauce. I liked it better, but I have to agree that the sauce did seem overly thickened and very heavy. Moreover, we couldn't distinguish between our orders, even though she got spicy, and I got extra spicy. Everything else was just adequate. If I am going to splurge on a meal that includes breaded and fried chicken, this isn't going to be my choice. more

Curry-licious! 4/25/2005

If you were raised on home-style Japanese curry, you will like Hurry Curry. The flavor is not as strong as making it from the box and the ""hot"" curry is not spicy. Also, you won't get as much curry sauce as you'd like for the amount of rice that you'll have. The breading on the chicken cutlets is nice for me, since I don't generally like chicken cutlets. (Hint: Take your order to go, break an egg over the cutlets, and quick steam for Katsu-curry!). I recommend phoning/faxing ahead for to go orders as it gets crowded in the evening and the wait is rather long. Pros: homestyle curry, bang for the buck Cons: small parking lot, gets crowded more

Good, authentic curry 3/8/2005

The main thing on the menu is curry and they definitely have a lot of curry options. However, if your friend doesn't like curry, I would recommend the noodle dish. It's a dish of spaghetti noodles with creamy white mayonnaise sauce and chicken cutlet that is great! more

Great variety 3/7/2005

If you haven't ever tried Japanese curry, then this is the place to go. You'll get the full experience - the menu is very diverse, you'll definitely find something you'll like. But if it's your first time - you have to try to curry rice dishes. Very spacious interior, friendly staff too. more

Gotta have the chicken pasta 8/18/2004

I know everyone's on the low carb craze, but if you are going to make an exception (like I do from time to time), order the chicken pasta. You wouldn't think to at a curry place, but really, it's their best dish. Don't worry if the lot looks full the free valet will squeeze ya in! more

The Best!!! 7/13/2004

Probably my favorite restaurant in Los Angeles. I love Japanese curry and Hurry Curry's is my favorite. But really the best unique dish there is the Chicken Pasta. I have friends from Northern California who drive down and stop there before they come visit me. Just about every one of my friends that come down request a visit there. The chicken has a unique breading and is kinda sweet. Seriously you must try this dish. Location of Hurry Curry is great too. Lots of Japanese stores around. Easy to grab desert nearby. Pros: Great Food, Great Price more

Un-hurried Curry 1/4/2004

Besides the fact that it took nearly 45 mins for us to get our chicken katsu, my friends and i enjoyed the meal. I think it's definitely better than Curry House directly across the street... and cheaper. I haven't had any of their spaghetti dishes... if you're here for the first time... just get the chicken katsu or you can risk having Food Envy w/ your friends. I'd definitely be back here. Pros: Chicken Katsu, BetterthanCurryHouse Cons: 45 min wait more

hype 11/2/2003

i don't understand how a restaurant which has half the menu as spaghetti entrees can run out of tomato sauce. for 2 of the ~10 spaghetti dishes, there is an alternate sauce available that seemed to consist of soy sauce and corn starch. IMO the spaghetti here is *nasty*. the curry on the other hand, is quite good. good luck finding a parking spot! make sure you don't park in a lot not designated for your restaurant... there is a high chance of being towed on a busy night! Pros: curry, cheap Cons: no tomato sauce, wtf?, slow service, cramped seating more

Great Japanese Curry 6/21/2002

This place has really good curry. My favorite is the chicken cutlet (katsu). The rice there is good, which further enhances the meal. The place is very casual and the price is very reasonable. more

Great Place for a Simple Satisfying Meal 5/23/2002

I love this restaurant. I eat here on a regular basis, because it is a great value. They serve ample portions of very tasty Japanese-style curry and spaghetti dishes at very reasonable prices. Both the curries and the spaghettis are essentially Japanese comfort foods to me. They're warm and savory and very yummy. So, they're extremely accessible to Western palates, but at the same time they're unique enough to be interesting and fun for out-of-town visitors as well. In my opinion, this is one of the Olympic and Sawtelle ""little Little Tokyo"" gems! more
