Hothouse Spa & Sauna

I have only been to Hothouse once, but I loved it. It took a little while to get comfortable being nude, but it's definitely a place where it's easy to get comfortable. I loved being able to relax in the steam room, the hot tubs, and the sauna. Hothouse is very clean and you are able to relax on your own without having to worry about speaking to other people very much. This is absolutely the place to go when you're looking for a little peace, quiet and heat. more

The Hothouse is a wonderful gem of a place tucked down below street level on Capital Hill. When you enter (there is a locked door and you must be let in) you take off your shoes and then proceed into a dressing room where the floors are heated and there is filtered water with fresh limes. Upon undressing, your choices of activity are a (lavendar scented, when I've been there) steam room, a cedar sauna, a large hot tub, a cold plunge shower and a quiet space for resting after your soak. The tone is tranquil and they discourage much talking and instead play quiet music. The lighting is dim and calm. I really love this place because it has many of the amenities of a "spa" but with out all of the froufrou service and spendy pricetag. (I believe the cost is $12... quite a good deal). If you would like to indulge in more than the basic stuff, there is a masseuse available for massages for an additional cost. more

I have to say that when I am sore or stressed or both I go there. It is so calm and wonderful. The only complaint I would have is the massage I got there was fairly sub-par. Not horrible, but not really worth the money. Otherwise this place is out of sight! more

This is a great, cheap escape for women in Seattle. Basically, it is a large room with a huge hot tub and saunas where you can hang out au natural for as long as you please. Massage is also offered – try a hot rocks massage for a real treat. Totally relaxing and stress free. more

I came accross the Hot House Womens spa last winter while searching for a friendly, inexpensive place for a nice hot tub soak and sauna. What I found was an warm, low key haven right off of Pike Street on Capital Hill. To reach the Hot House you go down some stairs off of 11th, and then, after ringing a doorbell, you enter a small room where you take off your shoes, have the option of renting a towel or buying a sponge, and can arrange a massage. Then you proceed through a curtain to a dressing room with dim lights, heated floors, and fresh lime water. You undress (no bathing suits/clothes are allowed in the hottub), take a shower in a nice shower room, and then proceed to the main room. Here you will find a large tiled hot tub, a lavender infused steam room, a dry sauna, and a large cold dump shower. Access to all of these features are included in the entrance fee. The general atmosphere is medatative and quiet, and clean with low lighting. No men are allowed into the Spa. I love this place. It is the perfect inexpensive cure for the cold bones of winter. more

If you're a woman and you're looking for a cheap way to unwind, the Hot House is awesome. They offer massages by appointment and you can walk in for their sauna service. They have a steam room, dry sauna, hot tub and cold plunge - it's great! more
