Great experience! 11/5/2008

I went to Honey last night with 3 friends from work and we will definitely be going back again! \r \r The service was great, the food and fondue were excellent and you can't beat the $3 glass of delicious champagne!\r \r We highly recommend the ""Peanut Buttercup"" fondue! Pros: Attentive waitresses, $3 champagne special on Wed. nights, great R & B/Hip Hop music playing more

SNOOBS 10/9/2008

I don't usually right reviews but I felt compelled to do so since this was the WORST EXPERIENCE of my life. I made reservations for my girlfriends bridal shower dinner and this place tried to RUIN it. First of all it opens at 8pm and our reservations was for 8pm so as we were arriving they were opening. It was a surprise so when we all arrived we were shocked to be told they didn't have our reservation. It was just they didn't have it the entire time the man and the hosteses were looking at us as if we didn't belong there. They were not helpful or seemed they wanted to accomomidate us. Told us some nonsense that they didn't have our reservation and they were having a private party and we would have to get out of our seat at 10:15 when it was already 8:30. Then to make matters worse he rudely informs us that this is not a RESTURANT its a bar and everyone has to be 21 years old. When only 2 of them were not but this was never said when the reservations were made or when we were standing outside. I was upset and disgusted with the rudeiness and attitude I got from the so call manager. So we thought fast and went to Marrons on 16th Street between 7/8th Avenue...EXCELLENT place. But as for HONEY I will never ever bother and I encourage no one else tooo especially if you don't fit that catagory if you know what I mean. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Honey is the worst in NYC! 9/17/2008

I had worst experience.. ever.. I never in my life was so disappointed and frustrated as after my resent experience with Honey.\r I made a reservation week in advance for my daughter 15th Birthday ? for her and her 12 friends (age 15-17). It was Friday evening 7 pm they arrived to the restaurant in time under a havy rain and manager REFUSE them to get in motivating that they are not 21 years old. If the age requirement is about selling alcohol, then ? do not sell. If the 21 is a requarement to get in,then please post it on your web site and ask during the reservation. How can a fondue place be an adult eatery only? Honey spoiled my daughter's birthday party.. I have no words to tell how I feel?.\r \r \r Unhappy parent of the kid who had spoiled birthday party by Honey Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

great bartender 9/7/2008

me and the boys stopped here the other night. place is cool, music is good. bar was a little empty but we still had a good time thanks to NICHOLE THE BARTEDNER. she wasnt like the snobby bartenders you usually meet in that area. shes hot, funny, and made sure we had a good time. i stopped back in to see her again but she was working at there other spot - not sure where that is. i will definitely be back just to visit this cutie. more

Badly Made Fondue... No A/C... unknowledgeable staff... 7/2/2008

I had been passing Honey by for a few weeks now. They have about 3 different types of cheese fondues and 3 different type of dessert fondues. \r \r Several bad things:\r \r 1) It was empty inside\r 2) It was HOT inside. No one bothered to put the A/C on and it's like an oven in there. Why would anyone go to a bar that is hotter inside than outside?\r 3) The fondue was repulsive... the flavor actually made me a little sick eating it.\r \r To say the least my friend and I ate outside because it was too hot inside. We shared the Swiss Fondue for 1-3 people which was $25. They were not very knowledgeable about their food. When I asked what kind of wine they used in the fondue the waitress told me ""We don't put wine in the fondue."" Oh really? Then why does the menu have white wine as an ingredient in the Swiss Fondue?\r \r I will NOT be returning to Honey. Also the bartender was more interested in the game on TV than doing his job.... which couldn't have been that hard considering there was NO ONE IN THE PLACE. Pros: Nice looking restaurant Cons: No A/C, unknowledgeable waitstaff, BAD food more

A nice place to lounge 6/12/2008

Me and my friends were just walking around and looking for a place to eat. I actually came across this restaurant because my feet were tired and I really had to sit down so we came into Honey.\r The tex-mex (??) Cheese fondue was excellent especially the shrimp that came with it. Their champagne dessert fondue wasn't too great and was very sweet but, hey, it's a dessert. I wasn't too satisfied that they didn't have many specialty drinks to choose from but, our waitress, megan, was very sweet and definetly made our night. Her recommendations were very trustworthy and I am definetly coming back, hoping to bring more friends. Pros: very nice place to lounge and atmosphere is comfortable Cons: small seats and table more

eh....unmemorable as a place. 3/8/2008

Its funny we went the same night as the person who posted earlier...We didn't have to pay an open bar fee? But the place was definitely average-ish. The hosts didn't give us attitudes but they weren't the best either. The seatings was so small I think you can maybe have two people to a table atmost. And everything was kinda expensive. But the drinks and food was creative - not that filling though. more

Open bar? No thanks! 3/8/2008

Do not go to this bar!! My friends and I are are tired of the snobby meatpacking atmosphere so after checking out the website, we decided this was worth trying out. WRONG. The website is misleading because it specifically says how different they are from the other bars in the neighborhood. We arrived at the door and were told we absolutely had to pay the $25 open bar fee otherwise we couldn't come in. I drink top shelf liquor and it's a known fact that open bar has a limited selection of liquor and it's all bottom shelf. They would've made more money off of us had they just let us in without the fee. Then, the manager BRIAN MAZZA came out, spoke to us like we were idiots and said he didn't want to deal with us. We paid the fee (stupid) and it was open bar till 12:30. At 12:10, I tried to get a drink and was told the open bar was closed. Now we had to pay for our drinks after paying 25 dollars 30 min. prior. The bartenders were completely rude (maybe they don't like open bar either-less tips). Never coming back. more

Honey is Semi-Sweet 3/5/2008

I'm part of a weekly Wednesday drinking group of 30 or so regulars who love to drink, geek out, talk and eat after work. We check out a different bar each week. We've been kicking around the city for 12 years. In that time we've visited several hundred bars (with repeats of faves). I'd like to say that Honey is amazing, after all it is in a sweet location, however, it's just halfway there. The bar cocktails are decent, inventive. The consensus is that the food is average-- although, my roasted veggie panini was pretty good. The bar seems to be shooting for the trendy vibe, however, it would score more points for me if the staff pretended to care a little more about its customers. This was our second trip there. I think we'll wait a long while before returning. Pros: Decent size, Great location Cons: Service more

Rude is a requirement on this staff. 1/26/2008

I had a horrible time as soon as I got there. The bouncers are unbelievably rude, and won't even listen if you don't fit the look for the night. Bar service is terrible, not only did they mess our drinks up THREE times, but they kept moving us for being in the wrong place. I was there for a private party and we were just treated like random joes off the street. Never again. I have never written a review on cs, but I had such a bad experience I had to share. Instead I walked over to the Hiro Lounge and had a much better time. Advice: Skip it unless you think you're full of yourself. If you do, they'll knock you down a peg anyway. Pros: Close enough to walk to other nice bars. Cons: The staff. more

Great Service, Food and Atmosphere 1/11/2008

Great place for fondue!!!! They serve a great maple syrup fondue late night when everyone is definitely hungry. The doorman, Brian is great as well. They do have a door policy but it's not like the ridiculous clubs in the area. My friends and I ordered a few bottles and had a table and everything went perfectly. Definitely come to this place for a good crowd, relaxed night, and great music. Pros: Crowd, hot staff, good music more

Watch your credit card statement after coming here... 12/21/2007

Just be careful with this place! They double charged my credit card ! When I tried calling to resolve this with them they so were so unhelpful. They sounded annoyed that I was even calling them to begin with. They said there would be no way to prove I didn't order the same thing twice. Just plain rude. I've gone to plenty of bars and restaurants in New York and I have never had this problem. Thankfully, it's not a huge amount but its still an annoying process to go through. Watch your credit card statement after coming here because they are doing something suspicious! It wasn't that great of a place either. Bathrooms smelled liked a sewer which I went to after ordering the chocolate fondue (was good at the time) but then I saw the filthy bathrooms - which are located by the kitchen and was completely grossed out with the place! more

Nasty bouncers and arrogant people 11/25/2007

We went to Honey last Saturday for a friends bday but the bouncers were so nasty that they ruined our mood for the whole night. They think that they are running the hottest club in town but all it really is is a small bar with rude employees, a bad sound system and a poorly distributed bar. You couldn't even hear the music which was not that good anyways. I work as a promoter and I know that this is not the way a bar should be run. I definitely would not recommend this bar to anyone and don't intend to ever go back to this place. Pros: decoration Cons: service, music, distribution of the bar more

Great Time Great Service. 11/8/2007

I would go just for their Fondue fries, which are unlike anything I've ever had. But the service is great too, I always get treated really well. This is all around a great place and the fact that they serve ridiculous food at 3am is amazing. \r \r P.S. The only time I've ever seen someone get hastled at the door is when they came in stupid drunk and stumbling down the stairs. Other than that everyone is very chill. Pros: Food, crowd, drinks all great. more

Terrible, just terrible. 10/19/2007

Other reviewers have mentioned the problems once you get in the door. At the door prepare to be hassled and get major attitude from staff who clearly think they're pretty important and act as if you should feel privileged to get in. It's a facade trying to act exclusive when the place is anything but that. With so many other good places in this neighborhood and city, don't bother. Not worth being demeaned. Cons: Rude Door Service more

AWEESOMEEEEEE! 9/14/2007

We went to Honey last week and had a great time!! The tex mex fondue was great!! The peanut butter cup fondue is also amazing! They just added pretzels onto the dessert fondues which is a great touch!! The service was very efficient even though the place was slammed! The manager, Bobby, came up and greeted our table and made sure we were having a good time!! I'm very impressed with the way this place is run and we are going to try their other location Dip in the near future! Pros: Great dessert fondue. Great Drinks Cons: n/a more

Check your bill before signing it 8/20/2007

Ask for an itemized bill and check it before paying for it... They have a tendency of charging for drinks you didn't order... I was very dissappointed! Pros: Empty Cons: Bartender more

AWFUL service: Save yourself the frustration 8/7/2007

A friend and I went here on a Tuesday at 7:15pm. There were a few tables of people, and one party of maybe15 standing around, just drinking. We got in at 7:15. Someone finally came and spoke to us at 7:30 and we ordered drinks and food. The drinks (wine by the glass) came about 15 minutes later. OKay, fine, not terrible so far. But literally ONE AND A HALF HOURS later, our food came -- we ordered the cheese fondue -- nothing fancy -- just heat the cheese and cut up some bread and vegetables. Somewhere about an HOUR into our wait, an unfriendly waitress told us the food would come...and blamed the wait on the party that was just having drinks. The tables next to us, having the same exact problem, were FURIOUS. Hmm. I understand that the place maybe had a bit more volume up at the bar...but this doesn't explain the kitchen problems -- plus, a few friendly words every now and then...and maybe some bread or SOMEthing, would have made the situation far less frustrating and obnoxious. So the one good thing -- they comp'd one round of drinks. This, however, was negated by the fact that the special in huge letters on the blackboard outside -- buy one cheese fondue, get a dessert fondue half price -- was not honored on our bill. When we asked the waitress, she said that what was written must have been left over from another day, and didn't apply today. Umm...sure, okay. Then she snapped that we got one round (= 2 glasses of wine) comp'd. We reminded her that that was for the 1.5 hour wait for food, but that didn't seem to go anywhere. Needless to say, while the cheese and chcocolate were tasty, we will NEVER EVER GO BACK to this place. Not even close to worth the hassle and sheer waste of time. Pros: Decent chcocolate fondue Cons: The worst service I have ever experienced more

Great waitress, okay food, weird hat fixation 6/23/2007

I don't get why this is called a MEAT PACKING bar. If anything it just skirts the border. Maybe it's the hostess and the the bouncer, or the small outside tables. As mentioned in a Citysearch review by someone else, the greeters do seem to have an insect up their collective sphincters about HATS: Ai and I walk in. Before we say a word the doorlady speaks to me, ""Would you please take off your hat?"" she says. ""It's raining,"" I tell her. ""Can I keep it on until we go inside?"" She nods. ""Just two of you?"" she says. ""Right now,"" I answer, ""we're Drink Club, we might expand."" ""Please take your hat off,"" she says. ""It's raining,"" I say. She enters the bar to look for a table for us. ""I found something,"" she says showing us a large table in the front. ""Take off your hat,"" says the bouncer, as I reach up to take off my hat.\r The front of the bar was empty, except for us. For some reason, a lot of cheering guffawers were standing by the bar in the back, cheering and guffawing. Our waitress, Gabby, was super friendly. The menu was fondue friendly. We ordered the Tex Mex at $36 for 4 people. The food was refrigerator cold and the cheese, a tasty mix of cheesy and spicy wasn't quite hot enough (in temperature) to cook the food we dipped. The nachos were crumpled and not very special.\r We had plenty of space to expand inside, and the waitress and busboy were really on their toes. Gabby stayed friendly despite the rather demanding demands of our crew. She's reason enough to visit the place.\r --Drink Club is a roving group of NYC drinkers Pros: Great service, pleasantly uncrowded, room to expand Cons: weird door policy, average nachos more

RUDE STAFF 5/28/2007

Rude door woman singled out one of our party of 7 for wearing a hat, meanwhile, it was a stylish JunkFood hat and she's a MODEL! Plus, plenty of people were in there with gym sneakers on. \r \r Dark tables, hard to eat. Had to read menus by holding up tiny candles.\r \r Food was OK, DIP is better. Not enough veggies with fondue.\r \r Waitress was super fake, she'd smile at us and then grimace the minute she started walking away, but we saw it. \r \r Would not go again. Pros: None that I can think of Cons: Rude Staff, Food Not Worth The Money, Dark Tables, ""Dress Code"" more
