Editorial review from Citysearch 7/10/2012

The first time we had Hog Wild BBQ was for our office meeting..Everyone loved it. It's hard to find a good BBQ place and this is surely one of those places. The only thing I did not like was the Au Jus it was way too salty, but other than that it was wonderful. more

I have eaten there on several 5/19/2012

I have eaten there on several occasions, hoping that it would get better and it never has. They're food would be alright if they actually cooked it. But most of their food is put out cold, and when complained about it is thrown into a microwave. The management is nasty with customers, and so is the rest of the staff. I watched the owner wipe the sweat from his brow with a towel, and then the same towel was used to wipe up a counter where the food is prepared. They claim that everything is homestyle or homemade, but it's really just pulled from a box. They are incredibly over priced for the service that they provide and the condition of the food. If I wanted a microwaved meal I would have stayed home with a TV dinner more

AMAZING RIBS! I got a two meat plate 3/27/2012

AMAZING RIBS! I got a two meat plate with Ribs and Brisket and it was tender and delicious. The waiting time wasnt that great but it was well worth it! The staff is very friendly and welcoming. P.S. The negative reviews need to be disregarded. They upgraded from a cart to a restaurant, thats a huge step. My friend owns a restaurant and the beginning is always rough. I will be spreading the word about these guys! more

So I am not sure if anyone from Hog 3/22/2012

So I am not sure if anyone from Hog Wild is reading these reviews, but some one needs to help out this place. I read the last review and I have to agree with some of the comments that reviewer left. I have been back twice since after my first review. The second visit no problems except some of the meat was not hot just warm. One of my sides, bean, was the same. The service was better then the last time but the food was still just warm. In the last reviewer comments about hearing someone say they don't know good BBQ, let me say this first before going on. I am a certified judge in BBQ competitions and have traveled across the USA eating BBQ, so I think I might know some thing about BBQ. The meat we got on the second visit did seem to have more fat then usual. The brisket was tougher and my guess was it was not cooked long enough to get that tender state. The pulled pork was not bad but had chunks of fat in it.. One of the suggestion on the second visit they said they were going to go to a waiter style instead of ordering at the counter. Great idea since that would clear up the confusion of the orders. On March 22 at 1150 my wife and I went for our third time to see if things inmproved. We walked in and was greeted with a sign that said please wait to be seated. We were given a seat with a menu. I was told that Alex would be our waiter. This was one of the changes that I was told about and looking forward to see anything changed. The dinning room had less then 10 people in it. My wife and I talked about what we were going to have as I watched Alex the only male wait staff. I watch Alex check on the others who had meals. I watched two other single males walk into get seated and got their order taken. I continue to watch Alex walk past and around out table with out even ""I will be with you."" I contnued to watch Alex talk with the other staff and manager while we waited to place our order. After sitting there for 13 minutes and no one seem to ask about taking our order we got up and left. I found one wait staff and told them how pissed off I was that after siting there and watching others getting service we got nothing. She offered a manager but for me that was too late cause I can see the manager and wait staff watching me as I was talking. I will one more time go back to Hog Wild for another review in about a month. Sorry but if thing dont change for this place I am afaird they will lose more business then gain. more

Great food, terrible prices. I ate at 2/16/2012

Great food, terrible prices. I ate at the new sit-down version of Hog Wild last night for the first time. It's their grand opening, so I was willing to excuse the fact that they were out of mashed potatoes and bread (for a kids grilled cheese) and hot dogs. I was also willing to overlook the fact that the prices listed on the menu on their door didn't match the prices on their actual menu. What I *can't* ignore is the fact that I paid $5.95 each for two kids' meals, and they were woefully tiny. A small cup of mac and cheese with about 10 french fries in one, and a grilled cheese made on a hamburger bun with about 10 fries in the other. SO NOT WORTH THE PRICE. Also, they said my meal was boneless chicken breasts, but when i got home it was actually on the bone. And they forgot my barbecue sauce and my cornbread, and since my order was To-Go, it was too late to do anything about it. Needs vast improvement if I'm going to eat there again (although the fried dill pickles were great!). more

Hog Wild BBQ has improved. We at Hog 11/10/2011

Hog Wild BBQ has improved. We at Hog Wild know that we had a rough start and we listened to what everyone was saying and worked on fixing those rough spots. Also, Everyone has been wondering where the guy from the trailer went and he's here! Things are running much smoother here! more

If you like grease, this is the place. 7/28/2011

I went to the place this evening. I bought a lb of beef and a pulled pork sandwich. I ate the beef. The beef was about 40% fat with a couple ounces of grease in the bottom of the container. It was so nasty I do not think I will ever buy food there again. more

GREAT FOOD BIG servings 5/30/2011

Hard to find if you don't know where to look but once you find it you'll never go anywhere else for BBQ. Their pulled pork is so yummy and the beans are awesome more

The BEST pulled pork and beef brisket SANDWICHES!!!! 4/5/2011

Yesterday my husband and I were actually looking for something to eat for dinner and actually came upon the cart there on Johnson Creek and 82nd kinda hidden if you didn't know what to look for. One of our friends actually highly recommended and we did it! It was WORTH EVERY BITE!!! It had a perfect kick to it for us which was the medium and our son even liked as well. So if you want to splurge or just try something new, please try these guys!! It just MELTS in your mouth and I can eat another one today. Luckily for my husband he has the extra sandwich he can drool over!! We definitely recommend this place for you new taste bud lovers or just hearty sandwich lovers etc.... more

finally found a place i like 4/27/2010

recently have gone to a few other places and had mixed results some too dry or the sauce was crappy or lack of meat and high priced, but this guy was by far the best he is easily over looked and because of his rather small setup u might be skeptical but his bbq was far better quality then anything i'v had in this area the ribs had lots of meat were nice and tender but not over cooked great flavor all around perfect also got the baked beans and had a sample of the pulled pork will get that next time highly recommend u try it out Pros: great quality Cons: easy to look over this place could use better advertising more

Wild for Hog Wild 7/18/2008

This is a take out place and they do catering. I was first introduced to their food at a company picnic. I had the beef brisket and I could not get enough, it is cooked to perfection and the sauce is fabulous! I am fortunate to live not far from their location (a trailer in the Sportman?s Warehouse parking lot on SE 82nd ave.) so I have been there several times this summer to pick up dinner to take home and enjoy on my patio. It?s like a barbeque without all the work! They have the best ribs in town, hands down! Their French Dip sandwich is a great item for lunch if you are nearby. You can buy meat by the pound, or order a combination plate or sandwich. The only disappointing thing is the bread they use for their sandwiches, it falls apart while you are eating, and is not the same high quality as their meat. \r \r Pros: Great Meat! Great Sauce! Cons: Bread for sandwiches falls apart, not a good place to stay and eat. more

Wild for Hog Wild 10/29/2007

I have enjoyed many different meals at Hog Wild but I have to say the ribs are my favorite. We recently ordered 7 sets of ribs for a family party. Another guest thought it would be interesting to have some \r ""other"" ribs to compare. There was no comparison. The ""other"" ribs had a lot of grissle and barely any \r flavor. The Hog Wild ribs melted in your mouth and were much bigger with way more meat and the flavor gets down to your toes! Hog Wild is by far the best ribs that I have tried in the Portland Metro area. The BBQ sauce is addictive too. Call ahead and give them your special order, you won't be dissappointed! \r 1 set for 2-3 people is about right. Don't forget the beans and cole slaw. more

Best BBQ in Portland bar none!! 9/7/2007

Don't let the trailer in the parking lot of Sportsman Wearhouse fool you....they make the best BBQ I have had in Portland! The smoked Brisket, Pork and Turkey are outstanding!! Definitely try the BBQ beans too...they add pieces of the Brisket to the BBQ Beans. This is a great place to stop off for lunch if you are near the Johnson Creek Exit off of I-205. Very good BBQ.... Pros: Great food Cons: There is no restaurant...it is a catering trailer more
