Dr. Heckley is the most friendly and gentle dentist I've ever been to. She always has a smile on her face and is focused on helping you to get the best treatment possible. Her hands are small, so she is able to access your mouth with minimal discomfort. She also has a real talent for giving shots- my whole family has commented on how you can barely feel her give you a shot.\r \r Her work is very high quality- she put veneers on my teeth nearly 18 years ago and they are still on and look great! \r \r Dr. Heckley stands behind her work and has nothing but the highest integrity. While other dentists may be willing to "patch over" some problem in your mouth, Dr. Heckley is going to make sure that you have functional, quality dental work so that you won't be wasting your money.\r \r As for her office environment, it is very clean. This is the best, most efficient, most professional dental office that I have ever been to. I have moved around the country for the last 30 years, and have never experienced a dental office that was this all-around patient friendly. Dr. Heckley is extremely knowledgeable and personable. She gave me several choices in treatment and allowed me to make choices based on my needs, wants, and financial ability. At dental offices in the past, I was always just TOLD what had to be done and then I received a bill. This office is definitely different. I work and go to school downtown, so this office is really in a great location. Easy to find. Dr. Heckley and her staff are really nice. My Mom turned me on to this place because she's had a lot of work done and says that the doctor and staff all bent over backward to make sure that she was pleased with everything and that she was always comfortable during treatment. I'm not sure who Ken Fleetwood Jr is, but I saw a lady dentist who was awesome. Maybe there is more than one dentist there? I first went for a cleaning last summer and then had some work done this fall. Everybody there made me feel really comfortable because I was a bit nervous. The office itself is really cool and the staff is very professional. I'm a patient for life! more

Thanks a million to Dr. Heckley and her staff. I'm new in town and my first visit couldn't have gone smoother. I found her office on this website.The hygienist was gentle and gave me some good info about making improvements to stay healthy. I felt that I received a thourough examination by the doctor and everything was explained to me in a way that I could understand. The office is all new and modern, very clean, very impressive.I feel safe! Everybody was friendly and helpful I have told my co-workers about Dr. Heckley and a couple of them went to Downtown Dental and they completely agree with me...a very good experience! In addition to suddenly having more dental problems than before (when I went to a different dentist in another city), I accidentally realized that they overcharged me. First, they told that I will receive a check shortly. Then, they said that they did not receive all insurance claims. And, today they did not even return my call. I am planning to take them to the small claims' court. more

I wouldn't recommend this establishment if it were the only one left in Bloomington!! The people there are somewhat friendly, but seem to not be so skilled when it comes to running the office sufficiently. My first visit, I waited about an hour to be seen, although I had an emergency appointment. I was there for extractions, and was not informed that I would have to pay the full amount that my insurance did not cover up front until I sat there with novacaine marinating in my mouth for about 30 minutes...They even told me that if i didnt come up with the balance right then and there, they would have to send me home without performing my extractions....Wow!! I didnt even know health care providers could turn you away like that...I went on and got my extractions, however. The doctor was very short with me and extremely rough while extracting my teeth. \r \r This place has solidified my fear of dentists.... more

These people are nice enough personally, but the waiting time is ridiculously long, they apparently do not know how to handle any of the administrative tasks of an office. Twice they were to call in a prescription before my appointment and twice they failed, wasting my time and money. Not to mention they did a horrible job with my extractions, tons of tooth left, not smooth for the plates. I will never ever go to this office again and strongly advise that no one else wastes their time either. more

I would not recommend this dental office. I had a very long wait, 45 minutes, before I was even seen. Then, when I was seen, there was discrepency between what the dentist said (no cavities) and what the hygienist said (2 cavities!). The hygienist convinced me to buy $30 professional level toothpaste (which I have since found to be totally unnecessary) and wanted to schedule me for fillings for the nonexistent cavities (I have since been to another dentist who agreed there are no cavities). I declined. They even called again the next day to try and schedule it again, and again I declined. I will not be going back. PROS: CONS: long wait, too much upselling more
