If you're looking for a quiet restaurant, look elsewhere. The service is friendly and attentive, which makes you feel welcomed and noticed. The food tastes a bit bland, although...

Excellent Catering Services 7/26/2005

Our law firm used Havana to cater our company's VIP client reception last week. We host such events at least once a month and I must say that Havana exceeded our best expectations. Food was excellent, timing was impeccable and the service staff was very accommodating. Bravo! Pros: mini cuban sandwiches, ceviche bar, mojitos more

Refreshing California-Cuban Food 7/20/2005

I've been dining at Havana for nearly 3 years now. I've always had good experiences and have been meaning to post a review. The last reviewer obviously didn't take the time to read the menu or notice the concept. This place serves ""California-Cuban"" cuisine. They have never advertised themselves as an authentic Cuban restaurant. Furthermore, the Fried Plantains (a.k.a. 'tostones') are the best way to start a meal...that is, after you've ordered yourself an addicting mojito. Havana offers a great alternative to driving across the bridge for a hip and tasty dining experience. Pros: food!, service!, atmosphere! Cons: no brunch menu more

Come for the Mojitos, but avoid the food. 6/23/2005

I wanted to try this place for a while now and decided to do so last night. I was very disappointed. The mojitos are good and the surroundings are nice, but to call this place a cuban restaurant is insult. I asked our waitress for ""tostones"" fried green plantains a basic cuban staple and she had no idea what i was talking about. How can you not serve tostones at a Cuban restaurant!? That's the equivalent of not serving tortillas a a mexican restaurant. Really disapointing and the food we did order was really bad and tasted nothing like cuban food. I might go back for a quick mojito fix, but will never eat there again. Don't waste your time here if you are looking for authentic cuban food, because they don't have any. Pros: Mojitos Cons: Food, Food, Parking more

A+ for service, food and mojitos 5/8/2005

Their mojitos are definitely the best. I'll return for that fact alone even though there are many other good things about this restaurant. Ropa Vieja is the best dish on the menu. Don't miss it. The owner is always there to say hi to guests and make sure that everyone is enjoying themselves. The only problem I experienced is with parking. Use the lot on the corner of Locust and Bonanza to avoid circling for hours. Besides that, I give Havana an A+! Pros: mojitos, service, food Cons: parking more

Nice Lunch Spot 3/29/2005

We just stumbled upon this place while looking for a spot to have lunch at on a Friday afternoon. Great Cuban Sandwich! I've never had one before and now I'm hooked. I saw some other tasty looking sandwiches coming out of the kitchen but I'm definitely headed back for another Cuban. Pros: cuban sandwich, friendly staff more

Great Addition to WC 3/22/2005

I hear that Havana opened in Walnut Creek over 2 years ago, so I can't believe that it took this long for me to try it out. I took my girlfriend and her parents last Friday night. We started the evening out with several of their mojitos. They're the best that I've tasted (even in SF!). Our server suggested scallops, crab cakes & pork skewers for appetizers. All a hit with our table. Main courses were equally impressive. Up until recently, Walnut Creek has been filled with the same tired restaurants and bars. I'm glad that places like Havana are around to offer a new, fun change of pace. Pros: Mojitos, Exciting Menu, Short Wait Cons: Parking more

Can't wait to come back! 3/13/2004

WOW! This place shouldn't be kept a secret for any longer! My friends and i always dine out in Walnut Creek or Berekely every Thursday night. It was my turn to select a fun, new restaurant with great food for last weeks get together. A co-worker told me about Havana, so we decided to give it a try. We had the best time out of all our dinners! The location is very convienent for shopping (which we did before our dinner) and bar hopping (which we did after). The atmosphere is relaxed and fun, their mojito's are great, our server (Frank?) was adorable and friendly, and the food was amazing! I loved the ceviche, which had black beans and red bell peppers in it, and my friends wouldn't stop talking about the scallop appetizer. We'll definitely be back for more 'gals night out' dinners! Pros: mixed crowd, great food, cute owner more

I will be back 12/30/2002

This place has absolutly the best food I have ever eaten. I went here for a drink and ended up staying for dinner. WOW! The chicken dish I had was excellent. I will definetly be back soon. Pros: Food, Drinks, price Cons: noise more
