Tasty Food 3/8/2007

Hasta La Pasta is a small establishment tucked away and often overlooked. The interior is understated but tasteful, calming, and pleasant. The staff is normally very attentive without being too in-your-face and the food is often very good (better than other local Italian places. The prices are above average, in my opinion, but not unreasonable. Instead of the average $25-$30 you can spend on a nice meal in Katy, Hasta La Pasta was $40-$45 for 2. Its always busy so book ahead of time to avoid having to wait for an hour to an hour and a half for a table at dinner time, even on week nights. My husband and I used to go to Hasta La Pasta for small celebrations - new jobs, new contracts, anniversaries, birthdays etc. The last time we went there we took colleagues in a new business venture - it was our first dinner together as a company and we wanted something affordable but special. My husband and I had raved about the food so everyone was looking forward to the evening. Unfortunately, the waiter was over attentive and wouldn't leave us alone or stop talking. The food was average and certainly not worth the cost. Our colleagues were not impressed by the prices. At the end of the meal the wait staff mixed up our bill with another table. We split the cost between 5 of us and had them charge the amounts to 4 separate cards. By the time we'd realized the mistake, all four cards had been charged. Granted, it was our mistake for not looking at the bill closer, but they could have easily rectified the situation with some patience and a little smarts. Professionalism and care goes a long way too but there was a distinct lack of both. I had to go back and speak with the manager to try and get the situation dealt with in a semi professional manner rather than dealing with it at the table as the incompetent waiter wanted to do. I was not about to ruin the meals of others, the staff obviously hadn't considered that we might be disturbing their evenings. In the end some of my colleagues had their original (wrong) charges refunded and others did not, myself included, despite having refund receipts. It was a total mess and I will be very hesitant to go back. It was probably just a fluke but it was handled so badly that I'm not eager to tempt fate. I hope their service is consistently better than what we'd experienced on that disastrous evening. more

Good Little Pasta place! 7/14/2006

My husband and I tried Hasta La Pasta last week. We had a Buy-One-Get-One-Free coupon in our Entertainment book. I had the Shrimp Florentine and my husband had the Chicken Marsala. The bread is really good. We both got salads and they were good, but not great. (And you have to pay extra for them). I really enjoyed my Shrimp Florentine. It was really rich and had spinach, mushrooms and pine nuts in it. My husband thought his Chicken Marsala was just average. It is maybe a little more expensive than the Olive Garden and has in my opinion about the same quality of food. It is definitely worth it if you have a coupon! more

Mmm Mmm 4/15/2006

This restaurant has an unassuming presence from the outside...located next to a Kroger in a typical Katy strip center. But walk inside and see the difference. The atmosphere is what I would call casual sophisticated. Nice enough to make you feel like you could go there for a "date" night, but casual enough to bring the kids if you have too. The bread with pesto and olive oil is a great start to the meal. I have tried several of the pasta dishes and all have been delicious with generous portions. I would like to see the jazz band sometime when we get around to it. And the waitstaff is always very attentive and friendly. more

I love this place!! 8/11/2005

It's about time Katy had a quality restaurant! Regardless of eating in or taking out, I've always found the quality and quantity of the food better than most. Management seems sincerely interested in your thoughts, involved with the staff and able to handle the consistent flow of patrons who love the food. I've found both food and service consistent, the restaurant always clean, atmosphere comfortable with nice lighting and if lucky, can catch some of the great jazz that is played on several nights in the back. This was a great addition to Katy! more

One of the best kept secrets in Katy! 8/10/2005

This has got to be one of the best Italian restaurants around! The restaurant is always clean, the atmosphere is comfortable, even romantic, with nice soft, lighting and simple Italian decor. They have wonderful jazz music several nights a week. The bread and pesto spread that they serve before meals is so delicious by itself, you could make a meal out it alone! The food, no matter what you order, is always served hot, fresh and delicious! My all time favorite is their Chicken Florentine... it is soooo good! The waitstaff is friendly and always go to great lengths to serve your every need. They offer an extensive wine selection too. Their prices are reasonable. If you love Italian food...I highly recommend Hasta La Pasta...its got to be one of the best kept secrets in Katy! more

Good 8/6/2005

Hasta la Pasta is a local Italian restaurant. They have one in Katy and one in Humble. Prices are about average. 10.00 for chicken Parmesan. The food is good. Nice atmosphere. Nothing too fancy, not too loud. Never too crowded. Once a month they have a jazz band in the wine cellar which is nice and different. more
