I took my son to this facility when he was three years old. He was "disordered" in a number of developmental areas--communication, coordination, social awareness/impulses, excretory and eating processes. The institute's founder, Judith Bluestone, spent a long time with us, and she observed my son without imposing any demands on him. She mapped out a plan of easy exercises for us to do at home. The session was videotaped so we could later reference all the content, and Ms. Bluestone was available by phone or email for questions/concerns. I have since come to know her well and have followed her impressive worldwide work; she has won several very prestitious awards and has expanded the HANDLE Institute to many locations staffed by trained clinicians. Her groundbreaking yet "simple" approach has been a lifesaver for hundreds of families. As for my son, he has benefitted tremendously from her insight and commitment, and I cannot possibly recommend HANDLE more highly. I will always be grateful I heard about HANDLE (through a speech therapist) when my son was still young, but even adults with decades-long developmental/behavioral issues progress when supported by HANDLE.
