Great spot for a party... 6/8/2008

I hosted a bachelor party for my brother last night and brought 17 guys here for nyotaimori, or ""body sushi."" Even though the private room only accomodates 14 or less, they were nice enough to section off a part of the restaurant so we could have the party. Coordinating the reservation was easy. I had no idea how this would turn out other than none in our party had ever had ""body sushi."" Without a doubt, these guys were FANTASTIC. Everything was great. The staff was attentive, the bar was great and suprisingly, the sushi was really, really good even though they were serving such a large party. As good as any individual meal you could order. Our nyotaimori model, Janica, was awesome and our server was great too. The chef was constantly checking on us and making sure we were taken care of. Every guy had a great time in no small part to how great the restaurant, food and staff were. I would highly recommend this place and recommend trying ""body sushi"" if you haven't. Pros: Body sushi, food, wait staff and bar. Nice patio bar too. more

Good food but overrated 1/31/2008

I went with friends on a Saturday evening. We made reservations, but that wasn't necessary because the place was dead. The food tasted great, but I had to say, the menu with all of its sexual names for the sake of sticking with the theme was hard to read and distracting. The decor was funny for the first five minutes, but after a while, I felt clausterphobic with the dim lighting and the pin up girls on the walls. Our waiter was good, and he seemed knowledgeable but he wasn't amazing, given the amount of tables he had. The drink tasted good, but it gave me and my friends stomachaches afterwards. Overall, it was a pleasant experience but not one worthy of the $$$ price. Pros: Sushi is delicious Cons: The theme is more fun in theory than in practice more

Decent food and creative rolls, lacks in service and restaurant experience 12/8/2007

On a first time visit to this hyped up sushi restaurant for my girlfriends birthday, I had high exectations. There was nobody there, so I thought the service would be great. However, the waitress was brand new and didn't know a thing. Several things I ordered never came and I had to ask her twice. The dessert chef was also new, and couldn't make the famous dessert I wanted to try after waiting for 20 minutes for a suprise birthday song. All and all, had fun with the sushi roll names like ""Fire Crotch"" and The ""O"" Face, but I wouldn't go running back. Pros: Fun names w/ sushi, cool style and ambience, potential bachelors party spot Cons: Unwelcoming sushi chefs, unknowledgable waitresses, little overpriced more

Edward Brik is awesome 11/4/2007

The sexually suggestive menu names are a little much and I wonder the usefulness of them. I really dig the ambiance of the place and the bar area is pretty awesome. We had the cheese b a l l s which are pretty tasty. The cheese and the raspberry sauce makes for a good combination. We had the firecrotcha nd something else. What I can tell you about those are that though you really don't taste any fish in the roll, it tastes great. It made me wanting to order another one. This is a great place to hang out with some friends and get some drinks. The price is what you would expect on sunset. If you're hungry and don't want to spend a TON of money forget the drinks and concentrate on the food. I'll be back again for the firecrotch. And the proprieter is an awesome guy too. he makes you feel like you're the most important customer to ever have come into his place. Says alot. Pros: Tasty food, good ambieance, Nice people Cons: Service more

Amazing!! 10/15/2007

Great service and the food is phenomenal! Defintely give this place a try! It's busy on the weekends, but a fabulous place for large groups. Pros: great service Cons: loud more

Yeah...It's personal! 9/12/2007

This is a biased review from a guy that has worked with the Chef, eaten the food, and scrutinized it himself. I am very happy to see Chef Eddies concept materialize. His culinary hands and feet finally unrestricted he is able to bring what truly is ""his food"" to the table. The food is exotic with truly innovative flavor combinations that I am already seeing imitated around Los Angeles. I've had nearly all his creations at one point or another but let me tell you plainly if you're limiting yourself to just the sushi the only person you are neglecting is yourself. Try some of the appetizers and entrees. In particular The miso marinated black cod, and the marinated ribeye. I was one of those guys that preffered no rubs or marinades on high end cuts of meat, just salt and pepper. The szechuan peppercorn marinade is unbelievable, it needs to be bottled and packaged and put in the supermarket. I learned a lot from this chef in the time I worked with him. He will do anything to make his customers happy so go toHadaka and enjoy. more

Best Sushi Experience 8/27/2007

This resturante is truley an experience. All the items tasted extremely fresh. The little changes here and there to the traditional sushi menu made each ordered item exceptional. My wife and I ordered appitizers and sushi off the naughty menu. I definatly recomend this. Adds a little bit of fun to your night. The staff was all very helpful and would always pass your table with a smile and see how you are doing. This is not a place to bring your kids. But as a date night for my wife and I, it was excellent. Best sushi we have had, funnest experience. The O-Face, Latin Tacos, Fire Crotch...all highly recomended. The chocolate starfish for desert finished it all off. This is now on my list of MUST GO TO places when ever I am in town. Pros: Right on Sunset Strip, Great Atmosphere more

Update: sweet sushi NOW with amazing service! 8/4/2007

After reading a few reviews on CitySearch, my girlfriend and I decided to take our dining experience into our own hands and try this interesting new sushi place, risking the ""bad service"" other reviews had mentioned. And after an evening there, we have good news.\r Apparently Hadaka Sushi has been doing a little housecleaning, because not only was the food as amazing as other reviews had claimed, but the service was more than spectacular. Our waiter (Brad - ask for him) gave us a quick tour of the ""naughty menu"" and said he recommended his fried b*lls. (OK, you have to be comfortable with lewd and quasi-s*xual innuendo here, because it's slathered over the restaurant like the raspberry sauce on the b*lls themselves.) Throughout the meal we felt like celebrities, having the chef (Eddie) and even the general manager (Johnny) personally introduce themselves and thank us for coming. After several entertaining conversations with Brad about the music selection and the restaurant's history, I was even starting to notice other patrons giving us those quick, inquiring glances so common in the Hollywood area. \r And as far as the food: I have to confess that one major reason I'm writing this review is so the restaurant will get the attention it deserves and stay open so we can go there a lot. The fried b*lls (tempura cheese b*lls in raspberry sauce and dipped in chili aeoli), sixty-n*ne roll, d*ggy style roll and the forbidden something-or-others we ordered presented tastes I'd never encountered, and my raspberry lolita (like a mojito made with a special rice liquor to complement the meal) was gone in minutes. But strangely, my sobriety and sense of judgement was not... We thanked the staff with a generous tip, took a picture with Brad (we're pretty cute) and left to continue our evening, making this restaurant the start to a hot evening we will, uh, definitely remember ;) Pros: Everything, no wait, yeah, everything. Cons: It does cost money, and it doesn't make you immortal. more

Realllllllllly Awesome Sushi Restaurant!!! 8/4/2007

My boyfriend and I found Hadaka on City Search, and though the majority of the reviews advised against the poor service, we decided to give it a go anyway.... and we're soooo glad that we did! Where do I begin? \r \r The location is great, the ambiance is very sensual, and the music they play is eclectic and puts you right in the mood for the ""Naughty Menu"" they whip out... The most interesting and unique Japanese dishes named with the dirtiest names you could imagine! We could not stop cracking up! Our waiter Brad was our hero, smiling, joking, genuine and accessible to us the entire evening... I don't know what the hell everyone else is talking about, the service was phenomenal! The main chef Eddie even came out and introduced himself and we thanked him for serving us such delectable dishes... The manager Johnny even stopped by our table and introduced himself as well and thanked us for coming by! It was nice to be given so much attention from the entire staff... \r \r Put aside all that I've mentioned, my taste buds were dancing all night! From the Lychee Lolita Mojito that tasted divine to the Fried B**ls and Sixty N*ne Roll..... everything I consumed involved new flavors that I had never encountered. We were so blown away by the different sauces, when the food on each plate finished we were left licking the sauces off each others fingertips! The fish and seafood they served was extremely fresh as well. And I am an avid Sushi attender, and I can tell ya, this place is wayyyyy different than the sushi restaurants I frequent in the area such as Sushi Dan, Sushi Roku, etc...\r \r The whole experience was really fun and flavorful and put my boyfriend and I into a verrrrry hot mood :) I give this place 2 thumbs up and selfishly hope that more people start going there so they can stay open and I can keep going! Pros: Every single damn thing about the place! Cons: That the place closes! more

VERY FUN AND COOL 7/30/2007

This place is awesome. I love the scene and the music is great-- you can't help dancing, which is fine, and encouraged by the waiters. :)\r The drinks are delicious and the banana flambe is ridiculous! \r A great place to go with a big group of friends. Pros: Very cool scene Cons: Valet parking more

Fantastic Flambe 7/29/2007

The head chef made us a banana flambe at our table and not only was it delicious - it was an awesome viewing experience. The staff here are hot as hell and provide great service and I absolutely love the friendly vibe. Fun and good food. more

adult-themed party sushi = good time ;) 7/10/2007

i love this place. the atmosphere is hott and fun and the staff is too. the \r hostess was friendly and flirty, the servers knowledgable, the sushi was fresh \r and innovative, and the chocolate starfish dessert was to die for. i went with my \r boyfriend and a friend of ours, and lets just say i wished we had not brought \r the friend along! the naughty menu is so fun to read over :) i got a lolita \r cocktail and he drank japanese beer while we sat watching the paparazzi chase \r after nicole richie across sunset from the patio of the restaurant. i'd \r definitely recommend it for bachelorette/bachelor parties, groups of friends, \r adult birthday parties, frisky couples, and sushi fans. good concept, delicious \r food, fun times! i have faith this restaurant will get pretty busy as the \r summer goes on and people get word of this place, so i'd suggest checking it \r out for yourself next time you're craving sushi! more

Best Damn Dinner I've had in ages!!! 6/28/2007

I didnt know what to expect when I walked into this restaurant. The atmosphere was amazing...the food was top notch. Marryanna the server has a great personality and gave a wonderful insight on the meals to get. We had the edamame, the well hung steak, a classic lolita and more.........The owner was soo kind and friendly that he made me and my group feel at home. The pricing of the food was reasonable and very affordable. I recommend ordering what I did. I just went there this past Saturday after a convention and was treated once again with the same excellent service. There are allot of great restaurants in the area that I frequent weekly like Katana, Boa, Chateau, etc..........however, the dining experience is nothing compared to Hadaka. Thanks for bringing a restaurant that feels like to Sunset.......you've been to the rest.....now I tried the best.\r \r VP Pros: service, atmosphere, people, vibe Cons: not enough days in the week to eat there more

Great ,fresh sushi, comfortable place . Super nice owner and head chef 6/28/2007

Went to Hadaka and had a great time last friday night.Sushi was super fresh and tasty. Our server was helpful in expaining the menu .The palce had a fun attitude and mystical ombiance. I would definetly recommend this sushi restaurant to all my sushi officianado gals and pals. Conveintly located before the strip gets crazy. I definetly am going back. Pros: food ,service, owners spirit, super fun experience more

Most Memerable Evening 6/28/2007

I heard so much good things about this place I had to check it out for myself. I am glad I did! The sushi here is so good, so fresh, and so innovative that I am happy to see that somebody actualy cares about their product. The menu was very funny and very creative I must say. The food was outstanding, some of the best I ever had. The atmosphere was very chique and elegent, and very tastfully done. Service was ok and they need some improvement, but I know its a brand new restaurant and that they are trying to work out their kinks which makes sense, so service wasn't that bad if I think about it. No new restaurant is perfect when it first gets of the ground, but I give this place an A+ for effort. This is deffinately a new hot spot in the making. Pros: Food, Ambiance more

Best Sushi in town 6/23/2007

All I can say is that I am a big fan of sushi and this is my new favorite spot. The decor is very classy and very exotic, and very sensual. The service was some of the best I ever had. If ther is only one complaint I might have is that they were not to busy as I hoped they would be but the server kindly told us that it has been only a matter of 2 months that they have been open and that they are trying to make a name for themselves which makes alot of sense. I met the chef / owner at the Los Angeles Exotic convention and I couldn't wait to go to the restaurant. I am so glad I did and it was worth every penny and for once a sushi bar that does not rip people of. To be quite honest, I read a few reviews about this place and I was sketchy to go but I soon realised that the reviews were from a bunch of winey babies. Obviously this is not a place for babies but for adults only. So all in all, different, unique and creative. A+ for this restaurant. Pros: food, ambiance, decor, service Cons: slow but is building up potential more

Terrible Food, Bad Service, Overpriced, Creepy Ambiance 6/20/2007

Do not go to Hadaka Sushi!!! I went there and it was probably the worst dining experience I ever had. It was eerily empty on a Friday night. The host was totally rude and pretentious, the decor of the place makes you feel dirty and overwhelmed in a creepy way. I wanted to leave before we were sat but I didn't want to be rude. The server had a scowl and was rude the whole night. He was in a bad mood and we knew it. The sushi is subpar after my first bite I got scared and didn't want to eat anymore. There miso soup taste bad and how can you get miso soup wrong? The prices are typical of LA if not under what other sushi restaurants in LA charge. But for the product the prices were completely overpriced. The owner chef came over and asked us how everything was and seemed nice to us but was completely unprofessional because I saw him yelling at his staff and he seemed completely mean and out of control. The pictures on the wall are tacky, cheesy, not tasteful and sensusal but dirty and gross. I felt uncomfortable the whole time I was there I couldn't get out fast enough. I will never go back and I highly recommend that no one else goes there. It is a waste of time when their are way too many amazing dining establishments in our city. Do not give this restaurant business, I mean unless you like bad food, bad service, and feeling uncomfotable. Pros: Nothing Cons: Bad food, bad service, and creepy more

Flash in the Pan 6/19/2007

So-so food, service was lacking. No wonder it was slow, not much going for it other than the the whole ""theme"" thing. My prediction, it will be closed within the year. Too bad, another Hollywood spot that just doesn't make the cut. Pros: Decor Cons: Service, Crowd more

naughty sushi; and you are asking for more? 6/16/2007

I am not a foodie by any means, but I like to check out new spots in la and read about this one in the LA Weekly naughty version of their recommendations for restaurants, shopping, etc. We went on a Wed night and it was pretty empty, but not awkwardly empty; I imagine that on weekends it is more crowded. We were seated right away. We weren't sure who our waiter was exactly, but they were all super nice and it ended up being fine. You can request either the nice menu or the naughty menu, and so we got one of each. We ordered a bottle of sake, some ""s--- beads"" (edamame) with this great glaze sauce on them and 2 rolls. The ""lipstick lesbian"" was delicious( shrimp tempura, crab, avocado) but the ""spicy pu---- roll""(spicy tuna) was a little I don't know- mushy? They played enya like music, and although I went with a friend, it's pretty romantic and you can totally get naughty with the waiters and your dining partner. The chef stopped by and chatted with each table and the assistant manager was great. Overall, I say just go there so you can order the hand job, or the o face. . . Go with your boyfriend/girlfriend and really get into it. . . Pros: great ambiance Cons: Valet costs $8 more
