Much better than McChipotle 8/17/2005

Easy to drive and park at, fast service, and a terrific place to go with a few friends, this small eclectic restaurant has the best burritos this side of Ciudad Juarez. It calls itself a restaurant with a 'kick-ass Latin American fare,' and was voted Cincinnati City Beat's Best New Restaurant 2000. Everyone has had the McBurrito from Chipotle but Habanero’s takes the ‘assembly line’ out of burrito making. It is just down the street from UC in the hip gaslight district, so it draws a large college crowd. I rarely stray from my favorites – the steak or chicken burrito. However once you have chosen steak, fish, chicken, pork or vegetable you can create your own burrito or soft taco, picking from a wide variety of beans, salsas and toppings, and watch as it's made right in front of you. They’re served with a tasty mix of corn tortilla, flour tortilla and plantain chips, all which are perfect for digging into the homemade salsa. You can also order Latin American-style seafood or one of the vegetarian items. Not a wide variety of beer selection but you can get pitchers of sangria. I also love how the walls are adorned with an ever-changing display of local artwork. Prices are cheap. Lunch specials are just over $5, while nothing is above $10. Kids can get by at $2 per item.
