Excellent arrangements, good range from modern to very classic 6/20/2008

Without a doubt one of the best florists in LA. Arrangements are generally more creative than your average rose and stargazer lily place. They have one Russian woman there who is an exceptional floral designer. Unfortunately, they reserve her talents for special events only, (including funeral wreaths) not walk in customers. Because of this you may be dissapointed by your Valentine's Day bouquet but don't let that deter you from going there for your wedding or special event. The same goes for the customer service which is terrible, you might stand at the counter for 10 minutes before someone bothers to say "hello." They LOVE to express their floral taste at this place, which is great for male clients. You tell them "I want a bouquet" and before you finish the sentence they are already making it without asking you what you would like or any other logical followup question. More than once I have had to ask them to stop gathering flowers because those are not the flowers I want. I know I make it sound like a bad place, but this place is more than well worth the effort if you learn how to navigate the situation with the surly owner. These tips also apply to all florists BTW. First tell them what you want to spend, if you don't they will charge you more for the same thing. You don't have to know flower names. Either give them a color scheme, say pink and white and/or point to one or two flowers that you would like to see in this arrangement, basket, funeral wreath, whatever the case may be. They will use their floral expertise and your budget to round out the arrangement. Finally, they will not ask you if you are happy after they arrange the flowers. You need to speak up when they pull out cellowrap to wrap the arrangement if you are not happy with something. They will not make a trip to the flower market for you, so if you want something very particular be sure to order well in advance or choose from what they have when you go there. Pros: good prices, quality arrangements, fantastic for special events, solid work for everyday Cons: lousy customer service, don't like it when customers express their preferences more

Out of business 1/8/2008

After over 50 years in business, the owners have closed it's doors forever. As a kid, I used to go to Yamaguchi's to buy my weekly stash of candy. As an adult, I frequented the store to purchase Japanese imported goods and great silk screened t-shirts. You are missed! more

Just a personal experience that I have to share. 12/9/2004

This place has always open my heart whenever we drove by or think about it. Me and my (soon-to-be) girlfriend was looking for a Thai restaurant to dine and hopefully "break the ice" and ended up here that one evening. The place had a karaoke party going on and the waitress said it was okay, so we didn't want to be rude and walk out. Instead, I ordered and ate (she didn't eat). It was so loud because they were singing in Thai, I thought to myself that this would end my date here and I won't be able to see and enjoy my time with her in the future....well, 5 plus years now and many, many Thai dishes later, she stood my me. So I gave it a thumbs up for their support and an above average for the food. Pros: above avg. food Cons: , location more
