Nice time in Grace!!! 2/2/2011

I went with my girlfriend to have a romantic candle light dinner. The dinner was more than I expected with lot of fun and felicity. The food was awesome and dishy which I never had it before. The service was excellent and professional. I asked suggestions from them on special dishes in Grace. Me and my girlfriend like the food which they suggested. Lovely movements in my life. This restaurant was recommended by myBantu my Iphone application and also it gave me a good ratings for this restaurant. We had a nice time in Grace. more

It's worth the money people. I had the salmon which was divine, and my husband had a slow-roasted, smoked pork shoulder (or something like that).. whatever they did to it was amazing. Service was excellent - wine suggestion was spot-on. All around fabulous experience. Can't wait to return! Pros: Killer pork Cons: $$$ more

Best Restaurant in Los Angeles 11/24/2008

This is a San Francisco restaurant in Los Angeles. The sommelier is knowledgeable and accessible, the servers are attentive, not intrusive, know the menu and wine, the ambiance is intimate, the food is delicious, the menu is diverse and the restaurant is not at all sceney. For special occasions, nothing in Los Angeles beats Grace. more

Best Restaurant In Los Angeles 9/19/2008

I have for years resigned to believe that you will either get amazing food or amazing decor from restaurants in Los Angeles. Much to my delight and chagrin, Grace has proved me wrong. OK, well, the decor is not groundbreaking (the lighting is perfect though, not too dark and not too over the top), and for that matter perhaps neither is the food. They both are however, very thoughtful and tasteful, with a little surprise thrown in to keep your attention. We enjoyed Grace's 5 Yr Anniversary tasting menu and highly recommend it. First off, the portions are unlike any tasting menu-sized portions I've seen before. They are HUGE! Come hungry if you plan on ordering this option. Second, the dishes were very delicious, plate after plate. I would say my favorites were the first course ( 3 corn cake bellinis with salmon and caviar), second course (2 large scallops on goat cheese polenta) and dessert (3 filled doughnuts with vanilla ice cream. One raspberry filled, another butterscotch and the last was Elvis: peanut butter, banana topped with caramelized bacon.) I admit, the caramelized bacon was a bit overpowering and not my favorite. However, the dish was a delight. We also requested wine pairing with each course. While some of the wines were very interesting, if not for the flavor at least for the grape varietal, I have to say that element didn't add much our evening. Still worth it though. The wait staff was also very attentive without interrupting your evening. To sum it up, I felt like I was invited to a friend's home and cooked an amazing meal. I was only there last night but want to eat there tonight, tomorrow night, the night after that and the night after that. Pros: Everything, including the prices! Cons: Food felt a little on the heavy side at times, but nonetheless, wonderful! more

the service was lovely at grace. the food, however, was mediocre at best. perhaps i am jaded. it wasn't bad, it just wasn't great. more

Definitely a Favorite Place 6/11/2008

I didn't think that I will have a wow moment but so far the reviews are not at all hype. I personally ordered the 5 years tasting menu and definitely worth the money. Absolutely love the dungeness crab salad and the rest were as fabulous. would come back definitely. more

I thought the food would be better! Nice Service though. 5/26/2008

It's not that I didn't enjoy myself, because I did but I was really hyped up about going here. Great write ups fancy location etc. etc. and the atmosphere is beautiful and artfully done the service was attentive but not over done...... but the real test of a restaurant is it's food! I am a total foodie and have been in the industry for 10 years and know when something is blowing my mind or not, well not!! The meat was a touch dry for both the duck and shank, sauces were nice but the sides seemed to be just blobbed on the plate for no other reason then to fill us up. I expect food to be on my plate for a reason if I am in a fine dinning restaurant, for flavor, texture, color something! The donuts did give me mini orgasims though so thank you pastry Chef!! Pros: Great servers, good wine, romantic ambience! Cons: Food not so great! more

deserving of 5 stars 4/17/2008

really.... this place wowed us, and no place ever 'wows' us flat out! you need to come here on any 1st date. starting w/ the the decor, it's a high-end/clean/classy/& very stylish atmosphere... patrons appear to be 'professional' upper-crust types who really know & appreciate fine-cuisine (& just good food in general). the menu impresses you as the chef knows how to entice your taste buds w/ an eclectic choice of meats (such as wild boar & venison- not just your run of the mill 'steak/fish/or chicken') and does surprisingly delightful things to such unpopular vegetables like beets or watercress. take my word for it- you'll sure to please even the royalty w/ the utmost refined palettes by dining here. even the servers appear to really know their stuff- maybe b/c they're all 'actor' types or something, but they do a good job convincing you they actually wanna be there. overall, everything is up to par: the food is delicious, atmosphere & crowd are impressive, has chic and contemporary/stylish decor, the servers are great, and the money worth spending. Pros: WAY up to par more

** Worst catering service around*** 2/21/2008

The so called, ""Heather Watson"" is perhaps the epic of artificial people here in Los Angeles. The food is greasy, expensive and heavy. The worst catering service around. If you are planing on a private catered party, think twice before calling these people. Pros: parking Cons: over priced more

Worth the $$$$ 11/2/2007

I've wanted to try this restaurant for a while but was hesitant because of the cost. My friend treated me for a belated birthday dinner last night and we were both really pleased with pretty much everything. The ambience is great (dark earth tones), we got seated immediatedly (but it was pretty early and it wasn't that crowded yet). The wine selection is fairly pricey but the corkage fee is $20/bottle - good to note for next time! Their menu has a gamey side - boar, rabbit, hare but I didn't feel that adventurous that night. My friend had the lobster cavetelli apetizer and we both selected entrees from their evening specials: he had the scallops and I had the short ribs. His dishes were amazing; I really liked my ""hot"" short ribs but it also came with a cold short rib dish which wasn't that great. We shared the huckleberry donuts - they're more like light donut holes. The frozen yogurt that comes with it tasted more like marcapone. All in all, a very nice (but expensive) evening. Pros: service, food Cons: expensive more

I love this place 10/31/2007

The food here is amazing! Presentation is great and the look is very simple but elegant. For apprizer we had the Sea urchin Risotto, 2 way tuna, and the Red Wattle Pork Belly purple sticky rice, roasted figs(Chinese we call it 5 spice; the fanciest five spice I have ever had) For Our main course we had Grilled Tenderloin of Wild Boar. It was served with roasted Brussels sprouts, herbed Yukon Gold potato spaetzle, violet mustard sauce. Also we had the hare seared with a mini boson berry pie and a side of some parsnip root. It was so amazing! Overall its my favorite restaurant in LA so far. Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing! more

Blah Blah Blah 10/8/2007

The food here is mediocre. Not terrible but not good. The dishes are over-thought (to paraphrase a fashion guideline -- before you put a dish on the menu, try removing one, maybe two, ingredients) and sloppily executed. Sometimes less is more. Case in point: I counted no fewer than 24 Brussells sprouts accompanying my (bland) wild boar sirloin. Okay, to be fair there were 24 Brussells sprout halves, so I suppose that's only 12 sprouts. But still. The pork belly was smothered in stewed figs. If I want something ""smothered"" in something else, I'll go to Friday's, thank you very much. And the bread was chewy chewy chewy. My jaws ache just thinking about it. I won't be back. more

worst food i have ever had pooh 9/6/2007

Reading on these wonderful reviews including the recent one from the mexican guy we went to grace this past friday night for dinner with a group of six.First of all the service here doesn't exist and second the food is pooh, meaning tasteless and bland. The wine here is nothing special and i mean nothing you are missing, over priced and they taste like two buck chuck.I repeat the mexican guy who wrote the review that the doughnuts and the hamburger is aswome,i guess he has never been to a fine dining restaurant and doesn't know food. The food here is horrible and so does the decor and service.I will go else where with better food and better wines. We all left very angry and we wont be back ever.I rather go to taco bell than go here. Pros: nothing i can think of. Cons: smelly restrooms, sweaty waitress, bad wines, horrible food more

Best Restaurant - Innovative yet accesible menu using the freshest local ingredients, friendly service & desserts 9/5/2007

If you want to dine out--- if you want to enjoy a great meal in a relaxed yet sophisticated atmosphere and choose from a fabulous wine list then this place is for you. The menu is unusual but does not go too far so you have great combinations that are not startling but a welcome alternative. The service is professional, friendly yet unobtrusive. Did I mention the donuts? Normally donuts are not something I rhapsodize about.... but calling these donuts is not fair-- they are a lovely amuse bouche - the hole of the donut bursting forth with flavor. Try Donut Shoppe Wednesdays to enjoy extra choices or Sunday Burger Nights -- with house-made condiments, and homemade fleur de sel buns. No, not pretentious - just the best ingredients done right, and that sums up Grace. Oh, and the bar ? a great, comfy place to hang out with a long bar and banquette seating and have a bite or meet a friend ... Pros: The food, the service and the setting... Cons: The wines are expensive so choose wisely. more

Worst service and Worst wine list in los angeles and perhaps the united states 8/27/2007

I went to grace few nights ago and i have to say it is dull and nothing special about this restaurant.Whos ever is incharge of the wine list i can give him lessons on the wine,it is pathetic.I have about seven-eight thousand cellar in my house in bel air which is astounding, and trust me it will benefit the restaurant more to get more people ordering wine if you had a decent wine list. The service is horrible, hello i spent $550 for two, please give me some service and if i have to ask each time to bring me bottle water or see the wine list, something is wrong. The food is not bad, just need more polishing on service and please hire a actual sommelier not a waiter who thinks she knows wine.Wine is like a science and i dont mind spending a lot of money on it cos i can afford the best but please change your bad wine list.I will be back and this time i will bring my own wines from my expensive cellar. Pros: Nice valet parking guys Cons: Horrible wine list and Horrible service more

Great dining at Grace 8/18/2007

Went there last week for my anniversary and the service was incredible! The food was delicious, too. I had the scallops and my husband had the boar. Our favorite was the dessert - butterscotch doughnuts with a side of ice cream. YUM! We'd return, but for a special occasion only. Prices are VERY high. more

Horrible experience and VERY overrated 8/11/2007

Unfortunately this resteraunt was very disappointing for both myself and the rest of my table. The food was very salty and extremely expensive, with no unique qualities, tastes, or presentations. To our own amazment despite the chefs local aclaim the food actually made most of us feel ill upon leaving...(probably a a reaction to the high fat and salt content in ALL of the dishes). NOT RECOMENDED!! LA has a lot more to offer!! more
