The best care, and lots of love 4/8/2010

The staff here have taken care of my 16 year old handicapped cat for years now. His sister, now 7 gets the same amount of love and care. Thorough, knowledgeable, caring. Go above and beyond. Oh, whiny people, how come you don't have a regular vet? Then you complain in an emergency when the Dr. DOES NOT KNOW YOUR ANIMAL? When I call, they know me, and my kids. 1st class care, and I'm picky. My cats have had attention at Davis, that kind of care is rare, but I get it here. Pros: Pet Love and Knowledge Cons: too bad animals can't talk more

Kind and Caring 2/17/2010

I didn't know what was wrong with my dog, but she wasn't well. She is 12 and 1/2 and I hadn't taken her to a vet in years. Not only did they see her the same day that I took her in, but they were very loving with her. They didn't make me feel bad for not being able to afford regular veterinary care for her, they just helped me (and my dog). Friendly staff, convenient location in Hollywood (right on LaBrea), and my dog is on the road to recovery! :) Pros: Took my dog the same day... more

Dedicated, Excellent Care for Your Pet 6/30/2009

If you are looking for caring, professionals for your pet's Vet care, this is a wonderful place. Another Vet seriously misdiagnosed a major illness my cat had, but from day one Dr. Girgis and his staff provided excellent care. The other Vet had rushed the cat through and loaded him up w meds. By contrast, from the first exam, Dr. G. took the time to ask me lots of relevant questions and to thoroughly examine the cat before explaining our options. He never tried to sell me expensive operations, tests or products. In fact, he was very careful not to jump to any conclusions. We explored each avenue as my pet's condition changed with Dr. G. always exuding sincere compassion. He was always willing to explain everything to me and to answer all of my questions fully and clearly. My older cat's illness was unfortunately terminal. But we were both extremely lucky to have such a kind, dedicated and caring staff throughout the journey and right up to the end. I've since moved from Los Angeles and only hope to find a place that cares as much for the animals as Hollywood Cat and Dog. Pros: Compassionate care for furry family member more

WORST!! 6/21/2009

My dog was dying from heat exhaustion, i was on the way to the hospital and called the receptionist to let them know that it was emergency and i needed help. A girl MIshelle picked up the phone and said carelessly that the Dr was about to leave (dr Gergis) ( 1.40pm on a friday) and they didnt had anyone to help me carry the dog out anyway ( my dog was a 60 pounds eng bulldog) so maybe i should go somewhere else. I started panicking and trying another hospital, i got to TLC 10 min later and they went out on the street to wait for me to arrive, by the time i got there my dog stopped breathing. They still carried him inside and tried to save him, but it was too late. Btw he was still breathing when i was on La brea near Hollywood Cat and Dog. Later i called them back to talk to the Dr and the guy Danny said the dr now was in surgery room and couldnt talk ( but before he was leaving for the day!). I gave them my info and asked them to have the dr call me but no one ever did. They should be ashamed of them self! Pros: wost!! my dog died cuz of their poor service!! more

Try To Assault You with Needless Tests and Cost 5/5/2009

My cat was attacked by a large dog and I rushed her over to the Hollywood Cat and Dog Hospital. They put her on the ground to see how she moved. She was fine. Then they gave me this long bill for an IV to calm her and antibiotics, and x rays and everything under the sun for $700. I told them I can't afford that. They said, well can you at least get the antibiotics? I said I could and gave my cat the antibiotics for a few days before she started choking on them. I took her to Laurel Pet Hospital (referred to me by the L.A. Pet Clinic who said I was not the first to complain about Hollywood D&C Hospital and were closing on a weekday). The vet at Laurel said my cat was fine, there were no punctures and she didn't need the antibiotics. They kept her for observation, took an x-ray of her neck and found she was just fine for a fraction of the price. Avoid Dr. Girgis. Pros: Location, Open on Weekends, Low Cost Vaccinations Cons: Not Trust Worthy, Use Your Fear more

Best Vet Anywhere! 6/13/2008

Dr. Girgis and staff are the most wonderful group of people. The have been my Vet for 15 years and they have always taken great care of my beloved Pedro Kitty and shown great love for all the animals they care for. Thanks you Hollywood Cat and Dog! Pros: Service and help are always top notch! Cons: None more

Personal care 11/18/2006

I've been bringing my 2 cats here for 6 years, and they really take good care of them. Dr. Girgis, Danny, and the rest of the staff always listen to my concerns, and treat my cats with care and compassion. Pros: Location, friendly staff more
