Diverse crowd. Bomb music. Always poppin'. Great dance floor. This place is off the hook. BONUS: The bartenders are fantastic. We got a drink that was patron and Ty Ku liqueur. Th...

Not for me..... 1/21/2004

Friends wanted to go and we were a bit surprised with the $10 cover for a Monday. The place is small and wasn't very happening. The drinks weren't that great. The bar staff was nice. Started to pick up a bit later on, but dance floor is very small. Music was good. Not enough space to sit and bar was a bit crowded. The mix of people there seems unusual. Probably won't go back. Pros: Friendly staff Cons: Cover, Small, Drinks weren't good more

Confused Buddah 10/5/2003

Visiting from Minneapolis, we were looking for a hot dance club and The Funky Buddah was supposed to be THE place to go. Why? It was absolutely nothing special and we eventually got bored and left around midnight. I have no idea why they even charge a cover to get in. Small place and nothing going on. Pretty good music, but good luck trying to dance on that tiny dance floor. If you're looking for a glam club, don't go here. Very disappointing. Pros: Intimate, Good ventilation Cons: High cover, Nothing happening, Small more

unbelievable wait 8/31/2003

Visiting the Funky Buddha Lounge for the first time, I did not know to expect an hour wait outside the door. It was frustrating to watch other less attractive but ballsy people shove their way to the front of the line to get in. Once we were in, the bartenders were very attentive and the music was great. The dance floor is small. Steep cover charge for what's inside. Pros: good music, nice bartenders Cons: extremely long wait, expensive, small dance floor more

DIVERSITY 5/16/2003

Funky Buddha hosts the most diverse crowd I have ever seen in a nightclub. The crowd is so cool and everyone is there to have a great time, not to be 'seen'. Thursday nights are packed, but worth it. The hip-hop is awesome! They play a good mix of hits and underground tracks. If you are looking for a club that isn't packed with swingers and muscle-heads, check out Funky Buddha. Pros: Diversity, Good Music, Good Crowd Cons: Drinks are pricy more

Cornhusker Girl Loved It! 2/5/2003

I'm from Nebraska and went to this club while visiting a friend in Chicago. We went to several places over the weekend but, I ABSOLUTELY fell in love with the Funky Buddha Lounge! The music was awsome, service was great, inexpensive(at least for a gal!), good parking, and a good-time party croud! Pros: inexpensive, great parking, awsome music Cons: not enought bathrooms more

Hot Buttered Soul 2/4/2003

Love Funky Buddha Lounge! An eclectic mix of sound, music & people! Pros: music, mixed crowd, location Cons: early close on Friday, size of dance floor more

funky good time 1/27/2003

The Buddha Lounge was the first bar/club I attended in Chicago. I had an extraordinary time. The music is unbelievable. The vibe and atmosphere are perfect for a night of great dancing. Althought the drinks are a little, or a lot!! on the pricy side, they give you a guaranteed enjoyabe buzz. I go back to the lounge every opportunity I get. Needless to say I have not experienced anything like it.. Pros: great music, perfect atmosphere, multicultural Cons: expensive drinks, high cover for men more

Diversity 1/22/2003

The lounge definitely has a diverse crowd. Went to the lounge sometime last spring. The music was cool the hip-pop, reggae, house, and trance mix was really smooth. The bartenders are good looking. One of the bartenders hooked me up with some free shots. If you are looking for somewhere to kick it and enjoy the music this is the place to go. The only disadvantage of the lounge is that is a little compact. Pros: Diverse crowd, Good services, Inexpensive Cons: Little crowded, Too Smokey more

not too happy 12/22/2002

The seating was terrible. the drinks were good and the music could have been a better mixture. Cons: seating, seating, seating more

Funky One 11/29/2002

I was in Chicago March02 for business and looking for somewhere to meet people and do some dancing. A lady at the hotel recommended Funky Buddha Lounge. I took the train near my hotel down to Grand ext. The dance music was GREAT!. The atmosphere you can't describe unless you have been to the Funky Budda. It is a club where you can actually meet people that can dance, and party with. So many different types of people at the FB that I had the opportunity to dance with and talk to. No other city has a dance club like this. I feel lucky to live only 5 hours away. WARNING: if you can't dance or just want to sit and talk and watch people STAY AWAY. This Funky Buddha is for people looking to meet different types of individuals, a trendy, romantic, high energy dance club. more

Better luck next time 11/24/2002

I have only been to the Buddha Lounge one time and I didn't like it at all. It was way too crowded, the drinks were overpriced and weak, and the bar tenders were rude. Maybe it was just a bad night. I have heard some really good things about this bar. Better luck next time? more

Not for the single african american woma 11/4/2002

The funky budha club was okay, the drinks are over priced and this is definitely not the spot to go to if your a single african american female. The black guys there are not there to meet sisters just women of other ethnicity. But if your going somewhere to just dance then it's okay for that. Pros: lots of soul and rap, decorum was fantastic, good parking Cons: expensive drinks, more diverse group, caters more to the bo more

It's all about the atmosphere 10/8/2002

Great for dancing if you don't mind a cover. The intimacy created by the dim lights and small dance floor made it a great place for dancing. Stay away from mixed drinks-not much alcohol for the steep price. Stick to the beer if you are looking for a buzz. Pros: dancing, atmosphere Cons: drink prices, cover charge more

Over Rated 10/4/2002

I read the reviews and found this night club disappointing. The drinks were good, and the air quality was better than most small night clubs. But the music was disappointing -- cliche dance club type stuff. The atmosphere-- lacked energy. Very laid back, tring to be hip, but not really hip. I admit, I'm comparing it to clubs in New York, London, and Paris. In order to make this club really happening, it needs to change something, to attract a more sophisticated crowd. more

Tourist Attraction 10/3/2002

I loved the Buddhad Lounge. It was the most fun that I had had in a while. The atmosphere and environment was nice. The DJ was very cool. The cover charge was right in my range!!! more

Can't Help But Dance 9/30/2002

Diverse, stylish crowd and funky deco make this the place to be. But, nothing is a better reason to go here than the music. The DJs mix an eclectic and addicting selection that your body won't resist. Pros: music, deco, crowd Cons: possible wait, pricy drinks, crowded more

Off the Hook!!!! 8/13/2002

I have sat V.I.P the last 3X I have been there once with all the Chicago Bears, Good Music Mixture and even the gay waiter makes a straight person want to turn and I am straight! Great staff especially the hot blonde manager... Pros: music, staff, drinks more

Small dance pool but good music 8/1/2002

It has a small dance pool. But the music is great! And I and my friends did have fun there! Especially it has a lounge where people can talk and rest, which I rarely saw in a dance club. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Small dance pool more

Rub the Buddha 6/12/2002

Over the past few years places have come with flashy grand openings, and faded into obscurity then to dim door closings. Through all of that, this place - Funky Buddha has remained my favorite in the city. I wish to God the cover were not always so steep, but every part of the place is cool without having to try or scream for attention. Good service, great drinks, fantastic music. more

Beautiful Buddha 5/16/2002

Luxuriant lounge-y feel, funky music, friendly staff, beautiful people, nice-sized drinks ... great club. more
