We didn't have a very good experience at Fresh. We had to wait 15 minutes after we were seated just to get a menu and some water! Then we got a lecture on why you can't order tu...

Editorial review from Citysearch 1/24/2014

Stopped by here on a Sex and the City tour. Should I admit that? I was with my girlfriend and she loved rubbing and smelling all the lotions and potions. Me, I liked the eye candy and how she smelled later. Staff left me alone which I appreciated. more

Perfect Family Dinner 11/13/2008

We had a dinner reception with just family and friends - maybe 12 of us. They gave us a private room which has an incredible atmosphere. And food was just delicious. Calamari was perfect .. yummm. Fish was soooo fresh. They are not only good at seafood because I remember having a piece of steak melting in my mouth.I recommend to anyone. Pros: seafood, steak, ambiance more

easily stated WONDERFUL!! 9/6/2008

I visited fresh last week after reading a lot of reviews that were mostly very good. I wanted to see for myself if it was that good. The meal ended up being better then expected! The service was great, the presentations of the dishes were stunningly beautiful, and not like most restaurant the dishes tasted better then they looked. As a told the very welcoming gentlemen in the suit I will return soon. Pros: Food and service more

Simply SUPERB on every level... the food, wine, decor, and service are all 5-star!! 8/24/2008

Everything at Fresh exceeded our expectations. We stumbled upon this place early on a Friday evening while walking around Tribeca, and were lured in by the beautiful decor which we could see from the sidewalk through the large open windows. We liked the looks of the menu so decided to have an early dinner on the spur of the moment. Pros: Quality of food, service, decor/ambiance, great menu Cons: None! more

freshest and most unique seafood menu! 8/13/2008

Haven't visited fresh in over a year but I read in the times about a new chef coming aboard so I gave it another shot. Glad I did the menu was so interesting and all the dish we had were super flavorful and presented beautifully. I had the heirloom tomato salad with pickled watermelon and the kona kampachi crudo both were wonderful. Pros: The food more

Highly recommended 7/24/2008

A group of us went and celebrated a friend's birthday at fresh last night. The atmosphere was great, service was very fast, friendly and accommodating. The food, we all agreed, was excellent and indeed fresh. Highly recommended. Pros: Great, friendly service. Fresh, well prepared seafood. more

Worst Restaurant 7/22/2008

After a good run fresh restaurant is not so fresh anymore. Limited menu and limited options made me want to go somewhere else. I expected exotic and received ordinary, The service was awful, the waiter did not know anything about seafood or wine to pair with it. Cons: No energy in the restaurant more

good 5/29/2008

This is a really great place, with awesome, friendly staff and an amazing chef! The food really is fresh and simple, but still inovative. more

Perfect! 5/17/2008

The Food: The food was amazing! I am a huge seafood fan and my boyfriend...not so much. However, we both LOVED Fresh. From the appetizers to the dessert the food was creative, yet not complicated or drowned in sauces or heavy seasoning. By the time we had to choose a dessert I said, ""pick anything on the menu, even if it doesn't sound too appetizing, I'm sure they do something amazing to it and it will be wonderful. Pros: Food, service, ambiance Cons: nothing more

wonderful! 6/26/2007

I went here for my birthday with my husband and it was perfect. They had great, honest service and amazing food without crazy prices. Try the lobster bisque and the clam chowder...they are frothed or something like that and it is great! more

Great food, great staff, get ready to spend 5/27/2007

Everything was as advertised. Food was great, service was great. My 3 course dinner for 2 with a moderate bottle of wine came out to $400. Given that seafood was fresh, appetizers were delicious, service was great I did not mind the price tag. Do make reservations. if you want to eat in peace go as late as possible. Pros: Fresh seafood, great staff Cons: None. more

Great for groups! 3/10/2007

I have been to fresh a few times - live in the neighborhood- and have loved it every time. I decided to have my wife's birthday party there- a group of 8- on a Friday night. Due to the place being packed, the host said that he would like to offer us a round table for the party in the downstairs room. At first we were hesitant- we didn't want to be cut off from all of the goings ons upstairs. However, being seated in the ""gallery room"", made this one of the best dining experiences we have ever had. The room is beautiful, it's not so big that you feel overwhelmed by the space, but it is also intimte enough that it feels cozy. There were two other parties seated, so there was a nice ambience. We were seated at a large round table, which was great- we could all see each other and actually hear each other for once! We were served champagne upon sit-down, and it only got better from there. There were two waiters assigned strictly to the downstairs, it felt like we were in the VIP lounge of a club! The food was incredible, to say the least, and when were done, we just sat to hang out and have some great wine and cocktails- we left around closing and not once felt rushed from the table. I felt like I had thrown my wife a semi-private birthday banquet- it was that great. I highly recommend asking to be seated downstairs if you have a larger party- or if you want to really feel special. Pros: service, ambience, FOOD more

Super Fresh, Super Service 2/1/2007

A blind date took me to fresh last Friday night- what a great surprise! I had never heard of the restaurant before- but now I am a total fan (I am celebrating a girlfriend's birthday there this coming Saturday). To begin with- the restaurant is lovely- it is very romantic, and has a sea-like feel to it. My date was able to score probably the best seat in the house- a round-shaped banquette for two that is right in the center of the action- score 1 for him. We were seated right away by one of the friendliest hostesses I have ever seen in New York (she came over to our table to check in on us during dinner, too). We started out with their signature cocktails- they are pricey but ridiculously delicious- the waitress said that they don't use any canned juices for them- everything is freshly muddled when the drink is made- that level of freshness set the standard for the evening. Appetizers were great- we shared the delectable crabcakes and oysters (of which I am usually not a fan, but these were really really tasty). My entree was incredible- pumpkin seed crusted lemon sole- out of this world!!! It was soooooo good- plus the presentation was beautiful. My date went with the tried and true fish and chips- I had a bite- and it was also great. For dessert, we shared the decadent chocolate variations which was mmmmmmmm so yummy. In all- the food was outstanding! The service was what really shined- never an empty glass, our bread plate was always full and were never felt like the server was being intrusive. She was such a great waitress- knowledgeable about the food, about the wine, and very pleasant. She even gave us free champagne- I loooved that. I also heard that they called the next day and thanked us for coming in- I heard that from my date, and yes, we are going out again. Pros: Food, Service, Ambience Cons: not a one more

A Seafood Joint -- Out of Seafood! 1/29/2007

Had reservations for 9:45 on a Saturday night. I made my reservation on opentable the night before and there were plenty of times available. The place was full but there were no people waiting. The waitress gave us our menus and let us review them for about 10 minutes. When we went to order, she proclaimed that they were out of about 50% of the seafood entries -- no lobster roll, no sea bass, no tuna, no scallops, et al. Totally embarrassing. How are you a seafood restaurant and out of seafood at 10 pm on a Saturday. I asked the waitress if this was a regular occurence (being out of food that is) and she said ""no, we just had over 40 walk-ins"". Why, would she tell me that? How does that make me feel as someone that actually took time to make a reservation? The food we ended up ordering was very good but the lack of selection left a sour taste in our mouth. We will not be going back. Pros: taste of food, table spacing Cons: lack of selection (out of 50% of entrees) more

Exceptionally fresh seafood 1/6/2007

Great food really fresh. Try the Spicy Seafood Stew, just delicious. Service was pleasant and discreate. Pros: great seafood Cons: menu not very extensive more

SOOOOO fresh! 11/22/2006

I went to fresh with a group of friends on a Saturday night AND the next week for lunch. IT WAS AMAZING! I rarely feel moved enough by any dining experience to do a review, but fresh was almost too good to be true. Dinner was divine- great attentive service, complimentary champagne and outrageous food- not to mention beautiful ambience. The seafood stew is a definite winner and the sashimi is very unique (done French style) and delish. The Monday after my reservation, I got a phone call thanking me for coming in! A thank you call from a restaurant? Incredible. I work close by, so tried it for lunch with clients a few days later, and they remembered me from the weekend (the manager actually sat us at the table). The lunch menu was made up of two prix-fixe's and one catch of the day menu. The prix-fixe's actually include a lot of the same items offered at dinner, and though I was tempted to get the seafood stew again, I went for the lobster roll. GREAT call there. It was unbelieveably good, and well, fresh. My clients were very impressed with the food and the beautiful dining room, but even more impressed when our waiter escorted us to the door and thanked me by name. Fresh is definitely a great catch! Pros: Great Service, Incredible Food more

Avoid 11/18/2006

To say that I didn't like Fresh would be too kind a thing to say. I hated everything about it. more

Nice Surprise 4/26/2006

I took my girlfriend there for her birthday last night and we had a relaxing, really good meal. They treated us well and the food was extremely ""fresh"" and well-prepared. The menu seemed to have a wide variety of dishes for seafood lovers and interesting ways of preparing them. Also, the hostess called me today to thank us for coming and mentioned how she hoped that my girlfriend enjoyed her birthday - unexpected, but a truly ""above and beyond"" thing to do... Pros: Food, Personal Treatment, Ambience Cons: A little pricey more

Very fresh 4/20/2006

Indeed, this place looks fresh and taste fresh. Sea food dishes were great and service mistakeless. Very recommended. Pros: fresh Cons: no parking more

Above and beyond it's name! 3/8/2006

We ate at FRESH the Saturday of the snowstorm we got to the restaurant an hour early for our reservations and were promptly seated and welcomed. The service was impeccable, the attitudes were very professional, and the waiter was knowledgeable. The Trilogy of Crab and Daurade were impeccable. The atmosphere was quiet early in the evening, but tables quickly filled up. The spacious room absorbed the noise, so it never got overly loud. The owner Eric came over and introduced himself, and upon hearing that I used to cook in New Orleans, introduced me to the Chef as well. I felt welcomed, as if I we had been longtime friends. One week after our wonderful dinner, we received a phone call from the restaurant thanking us for dining with them and expressing their hope that our dining experience was pleasurable. A+ all around! Well be back! Pros: Fresh food, Atmosphere, Service more
