not bad 10/1/2010

Although I initially had a rough time with the repair team, i.e. my new chain broke, the gears suddenly wouldn't hold and could not be fixed and the rack was not properly attached when I picked up the bike,I have since been riding it for over a month and I find it works great, actually purrs. The gears now won't hold for longer than a few days before needing to be retightened but it's an easy (recurring) fix and the bike is pretty old. Although the owner was tough to work with, she seemed treat each observation as an attack , the repaired bicycle is way better than it was when they received it. A few bumps in the road but, overall, I am a happy customer. more

bad attitude, poor communication 9/13/2007

I went in to get some fenders and a bikerack installed. When I came back I no longer had a kickstand. I went back inside and was like ""ummm... I used to have a kickstand"". The repair guy was nice enough, and explained that it was either that or the fenders, because they can't be in the same place at the same time, and offered to put on a different type of kickstand that wouldn't interfere with the existence of fenders. This is good, because as I told him, I'd rather have a kickstand than fenders. It would also have been nice if they'd asked me before they just did away with my kickstand, but that's a separate complaint altogether. Anyway, the counter lady asked repair guy what he was doing still messing with my bike. He explained that they'd taken my kickstand to install fenders and he was installing a different kickstand. She said ""well that's not OUR fault."" I fail to see how it's not their fault that they didn't tell me that in order to install these fenders I could no longer have my kickstand! They had my contact information. She just had a bad attitude, and even though it's really conveniently located to where I live, it made me never want to go there again. The store was also really small and didn't have much selection. I recommend Recycled Cycles in the U-District. Pros: location Cons: poor service more
