I got a cut and 'blow' for $20 plus tip recently at the Supercutsin Brooklyn Heights. Yes I did check the reviews prior to the cut and Gemma is a pain. However, my disappointment came after wash and cut as Nina with her lukewarm hair blower ran her fingers through my hair. I said ' this is not a blow out you're not using a brush.' She immediately got huffy saying that if I wanted a hair blow I'd have to pay an additional $20. I tried to explain what I was told by Gemma;' $17 for a wash, cut and if I wanted a blow dry $20 total'. Then, Nina talked over me a bit louder. I broke out in peals of laughter. I was amused at their tag team tactics of extortion. I apologized because Nina seemed 'hurt', tipped her, paid and left. The cut is decent but still looks like $20. Their pricing is a sham and their low consciousness attitude toward customers leaves a lot to be desired. Warning: venture at your own risk. more

Jeff cut my hair better than the salon across the street and i payed $60 there! Hes been cutting hair for 20 years and works at supercuts because he has a big family and supercuts basically lets him be his own boss. My hair looks bomb and i wont be going anywhere else! Also my boyfriend got his hair cut by a girl there and he looked amazing as well! more

You know you've got a great hairstylist when... The other hairstylists come over and say "oooh, how'd you do that!". No joke, I went to see Jeff after reading about him on Judy's Book and it was great. I looked super cute coming out after the cut, and I still look super cute several weeks after, all for $13 plus tip, friendly conversation included at no extra charge. more

What's this guy doing working at Supercuts? I don't know, but I don't prod -- I just enjoy a quality haircut that should be a lot more than $12.95. After being disappointed by tons of inexpensive salons (I'd love to go somewhere chi-chi, but my student's budget doesn't allow me, especially as often as I have to get my neo-Rosemary's Baby pixie style trimmed), I happened to get a cut from Jeff and haven't been anywhere else since. I told him how frustrating it was to tell stylists I'd like textured ends and have them hack away with scissors anyway, and he said, "Are you kidding? Just by the way you dress and your demeanor I'd know not to use scissors on your hair." Jeff never gives assembly-line cuts. I sent my boyfriend to him, too, and it's one of the only times he's come away from a salon not looking like a third-grader with a bowl cut. more
