I have been a patient at Foundry for 5/24/2012

I have been a patient at Foundry for several years. I have seen 3 doctors and one PA there multiple times. As I have had many many surgeries and seen about 10 different doctors throughout New England, I feel qualified to post my opinions. In any orthopedic office with quality doctors, there can be a wait. It's part of the industry that is not very pretty. But, as with anything, sometimes you have to take the good with the bad. Over the years, I have noticed an improvement with the front staff. Several years ago, I often felt intimidated and ""herded"". Now, however, there seems to be a noticeable improvement. Once behind the door, there are only one or two staff members who seem to have a difficult time with personal interaction. I've had multiple MRIs done there, and was always made to feel comfortable and relaxed while the scan was being done. Staff was knowledgeable in what they were doing, and the end result has always been excellent quality images. The up to date use of technology in the exam rooms is also a plus. The doctor can immediately access images and explain the findings. Often the doctor has invited me off of the exam table to get a closer look at the images, and making me feel comfortable asking questions. Although I have had multiple surgeries, I have never been a patient of the Foundry PT group. I have always opted for PT elsewhere. And it's never been a problem. Even though it could have been, my choices were honored, and my PT has always had wonderful communication back and forth with the attending doctor/PA. There are a lot of surgeons out there. I even attempted to contact one for my most recent injury, thinking maybe it's time to find someone closer to home. That office never even bothered to call me back. So I made an appointment at Foundry, was taken in within a reasonable wait time, saw the doctor, had surgery recommended and scheduled, CT scheduled, MRI scheduled all very efficiently and professionally. In the end, I didn't need the surgery after all...but it was nice to know it could be done quickly and easily with the staff at Foundry. more

Looooong Wait!! 2/24/2012

I had my first appointment yesterday. It was a 10am appointment. I waited until 11:10 to ask when I may be seen. I was roomed 5 minutes later. Then taken to xray, which I had already had & came back negative. However i was told the doctor still wanted it. By 11:40 I had STILL not been seen & had to leave to go to work at 12. I had made a 10am appointment assuming I would be out in time for work..I guess I was wrong. I never saw the docotor & will not be able to go back for 2 weeks due to my schedule. The next visit is with a different MD at the same office at 9am instead(Hopefully that is enough time)...unfortunatly I will be hobbling around for 2 more weeks with a possiable torn meniscus OUCH!! =( more

Mixed Review 9/16/2011

I have been a patient at Foundry Orthopedics for over 7 years. After 2 knee surgeries for myself, a replacement knee for my father, a broken wrist and two broken ankles for my daughter - I'd say that I have enough experience to comment. more

Poor customer service 10/20/2008

Arrived for my 11AM appointment at 10:45. Waited in waiting area until 12PM without any communication from receiptionist. At 12PM I asked when I would be seen as was told the Dr came in late this morning and is running behind and that there was still another paitent ahead of me. Why they didn't tell me that he was so far behind when I arrived at 10:45 I'll never know. God forbid they call to tell you before you leave for the office. This office does not respect your time. Pros: Nice office space Cons: Staff, unprofessional more

Dispute of Negative reviews... 1/16/2008

I have to dispute some of the negative reviews here. Yes, I am a former employee of Foundry so I may be biased. I left due to family considerations, and moved out of the area. If it was not for this reason, I would have stayed at Foundry for a very long time. Yes, there might be a little wait for the MD's, but they are some of the best in New England... Yes, there might be a wait in therapy, but they are some of the best in New England. One of the reasons for the wait is due to the quality service. When hiring a new MD, or a new Therapist, they do not just hire any old shmuck... With the difficulty finding quality healthcare providers, they will NOT ever fill a spot to get more patients in the door. Pros: Atmosphere, staff, professionalism and care. more

Poor patient care, long wait. Check out UNIVERSITY ORTHOPEDICS (Brown affiliated) instead. 7/12/2007

OOps. I should have checked here first. Pros: Great java in waiting room Cons: You'll miss your next class - guarranteed! more

Foundry Ortho is fantastic! 7/1/2007

I have been a patient of Dr. Wiggins since 1998 or so - after being referred by my PCP. Four knee surgeries later and I still feel that this is the best ortho doctor you could find. His reputation in this state is stellar, his bed-side manner is outstanding, and his PA, Ken, is beyond compare! I have had to wait a few times for appointments however, if someone else has an emergency need to see the doctor that is more urgent than my follow-up or medical complaint then so be it! If I was the one with the emergency, I would like to know that I would receive priority. I have had nothing but great assistance and care from the desk and surgical appointment staff, in particular Chrissy & Linda. Every member of the staff I have dealt with has been very pleasant and they take the time to be sociable with the patients. One bad experience at any doctor's office does not make for a poor staff or medical group. I have recommended Dr. Wiggins to friends of mine and not one has ever been dissatisfied with the care received. There are plenty of doctors in this state and instead of disparaging one for your brief experience, maybe you should take the time to find another one. Over the YEARS that I have been treated by this group, I have no complaints and wish that there were more doctors of this caliber with the amount of medical knowledge and technology that this office has. Pros: Medical knowledge, technology, patient care more

Avoid Foundry Orthopedics, Providence R.I. 5/10/2007

I had been referred Foundry Orthopedics by my PCP who said he has ""heard great things"" Without hesitation, and considering that I have had the same primary physician for over 15 years, I went ahead and made an appointment. The building is absolutely beautiful, but that is where the positive experience ended. After waiting for OVER AN HOUR I asked the girls how much longer it would be and they said that the doctor was running behind and that I should have anticipated a wait as I was a new patient and would have to fill out appropriate paperwork etc. Not only was the patient packet sent to me 2 weeks before the appointment which I had filled out before I arrived, but I had arrived 30 mins earlier!!! It was so incredibly frustrating. By the time I was seen I was so upset that it ruined my entire experience all together. I wish I had not necessarily taken the word of my trusted PCP and had looked into this business ahead of time. I am grateful that there is a forum out there such as this so that we as consumers/patients, etc can voice our opinions to warn others to go elsewhere. I too, agree with the earlier posting regarding the caliber of staff there at the facility. Pros: Pretty building Cons: Rude staff. Long wait. more

Outstanding patient care in a very friendly environment 3/1/2007

I am shocked to read the negative reviews of Foundry Orthopedics. These reviews could not be further from the truth! I have been a patient at Foundry Orthopedics for the past three years. During that time period I have had surgery on both of my shoulders and I have also been treated for back problems. So you can see that I've had plenty of opportunity to evaluate the service I receive. I can tell you that from day one the service I have received on every single appointment is top notch. I've read the negative comments about the wait time to see one of the doctors. My comment back to these reviewers is ""show me a doctor that doesn't have a wait time"". My wait time for a doctor averages around 20 minutes and the wait time for therapy is normally less than 5 minutes. Sometimes you can wait longer for a bagel and coffee at a local donut shop. As for my appointments, they are always very thorough. The doctors and the entire staff are courteous and they spend the time to explain things and to listen to your questions. I have never felt rushed from any appointment I have had. The staff is very friendly and they put you at ease when you are there. The doctors are all very easy to get along with and they treat you as a friend and not always as a patient. As for the Physical Therapy portion of Foundry Orthopedics, I have nothing but great things to say about them. When I had my surgeries done I had fears of how painful and difficult the therapy would be. I was so wrong! Not only did the staff make me feel comfortable, they always showed that they cared about my condidtion and about me as a person. They took their time to explain each step of the therapy process with me and they were with me every step of the way to make my therpay the easiest it could be. I can say without question that my recovery was made a whole lot easier by the great staff. For me, therapy became a fun place to hang out, listen to great music and have lots of laughs. Pros: Great service. Great people. Great music. Nice sports atmosphere. Cool building. Cons: Have never found one. more

VERY PROFESSIONAL TREATMENT 2/28/2007

I AM SURPISED AT THE NEGATIVE REVIEWS FOR FOUNDRY ORTHOPEDICS. I HAVE A NAGGING MUSCLE INJURY WHICH HAS FORCED ME TO CURTAIL MY RUNNING ROUTINE. MY PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN, WHO IS ALSO TRIATHELETE, REFERRED ME TO FOUNDRY ORTHOPEDICS. more

NOT RECOMMENDED 1/4/2007

I totally agree with the comments listed here. The building itself is a marvel, however the staff is under trained if even trained at all. The medical assistant I had removing my sutures boasted that her last job before coming to Foundry Orthopedics was a job at Taco Bell. She had no formal training. And apparently that is the case for several other employees there at the facilities. I found that information disturbing since this is, or so I thought, a licensed surgical staff. It appears the Owners find it important to put a lot of money into the looks of the building but pay little attention to proper patient care. I found it disturbing and I would imagine illegal. I suggest that anyone choosing to go there (if they can stand the wait in the waiting room, my wait 1.25 hr) to insist on seeing credentials. I think the company hires these unlicensed employees to avoid having to pay the wage they would to certified Medical Assistants, Physical therapists and so on. It seems like a shady operation to me. I would stay away. I obviously will! Pros: Beautiful building Cons: Under trained Staff/ Shady operation more

agree with other review. awful staff. 6/10/2006

Very ""blah"" therapy. The building itself is inspiring, but the staff don't seem to mix in with the sports medicine theme. Nothing new session to session, and I rarely got treated by an actual therapist. A massage therapist did most of my therapy, and while she was nice, my rehabilitation took an extemely long time. Will not return. Pros: nice Lance Armstrong memorabilia on the walls Cons: lack of contact with therapists more

most awful therapy i've received 6/9/2006

No individual attention, except when they were collecting my co-pay. students massaging my back were very nice, but didn't aid in my recovery. Beautiful facility, too bad they don't have better people running it. Pros: beautiful old building Cons: staff that had a hard time explaining why i was do more
