5 STAR Service and food. Lady at counter ( the Owner ) is awesome, made me feel like I was in Boston again. If you are thin skinned, insecure or just a wimp go to dominoes. If you...

The food is great and they know how to get it out fast but Mama's gotta go! The woman that normally operates the register is a queen number one you know what. Impatience thinks ...

Great NJ/NY pizza in SA!! 12/4/2008

My husband is from NJ and we have been searching for this type of pizza here in SA. After reading an article in a local magazine, we tried it and LOVED IT!!! The ""mean lady"" (taken from other reviews) behind the counter was more than nice, she was SUPER NICE. She talked to us and answered questions about the business. I think the people making the comments are the jerks. I have lived here all my life and the whole thing about southern hospitality is pure B.S., so quit crying and grow up!! We will be back soon!!! Pros: great pizza, great service, great prices more

You'll Definitely Be Treated Poorly 12/4/2008

I've grown accustomed to a certain routine upon opening the door and entering a restaurant. Usually, I'll be greeted courteously and shown to a table, or asked politely to wait if there are no tables available. Florio's definitely has their own way of doing things. After walking in the door to the dining room, I had to walk back to the bar area to find anybody. There I was ""greeted"" by an unsavory looking old woman who looked like she was nursing one hell of a hangover. Her greeting was in the form of a gruff statement that they didn't open until 5:00 P.M. This was at 4:27 P.M., and according to what I saw online they are open from 11:30 A.M to 9:30 P.M. I would like to note that there were no hours of operation posted on the door I entered the restaurant through, and that door was UNLOCKED! Most businesses have begun to employ the newer door lock technology that has recently become available to ensure no unauthorized personnel enter when they are closed. I was really looking forward to trying this pizza based on the reviews I read here, but after the warm welcome and inviting appearance of the people slouched over the table in the bar, I feel lucky not to have ingested anything they prepared. Pros: I didn't get sick, but then again I had no food. Cons: Barbaric customer service more

A Treat To Be Relished 9/13/2008

This restaurant is out of the way for me (Alamo Heights) so when I do go there I'm salivating from the fact that I know this pizza is going to give my taste buds an explosion of stretchy, greasy (in a good way) , salty mozzarella, tangy sauce bursting with homemade flavor and a thin crust that crunches so good and melts in my mouth. When you want authentic terrific ""pizza pie"" , make the trip to Florio's. I can easliy say that nobody makes a pie like them. Caparelli's does compare. The only pizza that will pass the taste test besides Florio's is Napoli's in Boerne. Pros: Thumbs up! Cons: Thumbs up! more

Great pizza 6/16/2008

Delicious thin-crust, NY style pizza. I moved away from San Antonio, and have miss this place. I recommend the sausage. Pros: sausage Cons: NYC attitude sometimes, but not bad more

they're from Jersey, they know pizza! 2/29/2008

Florio's is the BEST pizza in town!! It's so good and juicy and dont blot the grease!! thats the best part, thats all the flavoring! i made that mistake once and i'll never do it again. They're customer service is awesome as well. If you go to Florio's enough and actually know the people that work there then there would not be any complaints about their service They are an adorable little family from jersey just makin it big in texas on some amazing pizza. It was probably just you. Of course they are busy on friday nights!! what place isn't? Everybody loves Florio's!! I recommend Florio's to everyone! Pros: THEY'RE DELICOUS PIZZA Cons: there is only one florio's more

Best pizza so far here in town! 1/14/2008

Pizza is really good. The only thing that I am not to crazy about is the custumer service, they could do a bit better, but is not horrible. On Friday nights is really busy. Don't wait till your really hungry because you will have a wait time to get your pizza on the table. Pros: great pizza Cons: custumer service more

Best pizza and service 1/5/2008

Florio's is New York style pizza with great ingredients, baked with love. As important, I am greeted by name, my children are greeted by name, if a kid is missing, I'm asked if we are ok. What more can I ask for? more

Best NYC Pizza 12/10/2007

I read the reviews below and want to make this point. This is New York style pizza so it comes with a bit of New York attitude but that's what gives the restaurant its flair. I am from Jersey and so I get it. Also I don?t understand how anyone can say its just average. They import all their deli and sausage meats and make all the dough by hand. This isn?t a boxed version of papa john or domino's. When I eat Florio?s I feel like I am at home. If you can't take a little tough love then stay at home they aren't rude just a little rough around the edges. ..So go out and try it and make your own decision and don't forget the subs hmmm fresh more

Best Pizza in SA so far 11/16/2007

I'm fairly new to SA and haven't had much luck with finding good pizza. Florio's is definately the best so far. I would recommend it. No, the owners/staff don't ooze ""southern hospitality"" as is mentioned in the previous reviews, but are friendly enough. Overall, good pizza - try it! more

Great Pizza but Very Unfriendly 9/28/2007

The food is great and they know how to get it out fast but Mama's gotta go! The woman that normally operates the register is a queen number one you know what. Impatience thinks she has a short fuse! You'd better know what you want when you get to her or you are in for it. I hope she reads this and takes a permanent carreer vacation. I will get my Florio's togo!! Pros: Food Cons: Service more

Best Jersey/New York Pizza in San Antonio 5/31/2007

Best Pizza you can get in San Antonio. I love the Pizza places in Jersey/New York area. After having Pizza there I have stayed away from eating it from places here. (I was making my own from scratch at home.) But that was until I found Florio's. The pizza is wonderful. You get great New York/Jersey pizza at the a Texas price. All the other comments here talk about customer service. Who cares when you have great pizza for a great price. The only thing I recommend is that you dine in. I leave down the street in AH and when you get the pizza delieverd it is just not as wonderful. Pros: Cheap, hot, fresh more

In a service industry there is no room for rudeness. 5/19/2007

The service is horrible, the pizza is good. I stopped going after way too many rude comments when putting up with the counter lady. You can't even avoid the rudeness by ordering take out ore delivery. This place (as stated by another reviewer) goes against the friendliness of Texans. Pizza is thin, not crispy, strong acidic sauce(above average) and good taste if you don't mind grease ingredients. Pros: as new york/new jersey style as can be had in SA Cons: rude service, bad costumer service more

Pizza, Subs and Therapy 5/17/2007

Florios is a unique experience that no one should deny themselves. From the wonderful food to the priceless banter with the staff and regular customers at the counter, nothing is lacking in character. In addition to great pizza and subs it also serves as a popular meeting place for the local crowd and a perfect hideout to gossip on current events and the overall direction of the world. \r Florios is family owned and friend operated. The Florio family's well established little piece of heaven is cherished by an ever growing crowd of ""Regulars"" and is the priceless haven of every Highschool kid in the neighborhood at school lunch times. Highlights are the low priced weekday lunch specials, Pat's opulent pies and cakes and the general family comradery that the Florio family extends to all who walk through their doors. \r \r Best pizza, subs and calzones in town.... and an antipasto salad that can tame a lumberjack.\r \r Come hungry, and come often. \r \r Not sure what you want ? Ask Pat, she'll tell you. Pros: Price, Location, Food, Fun Cons: Small space occasionally leads to packed house and no seating more

New York...HA! New Jersey...Definitely! 2/4/2007

Born and raised in NYC...The owners of Florio's claim it is New York Pizza, and then get offended when you ask where they are from and laugh because they are from New Jersey. They should care less about where they are from and just make good pizza...don't act like you are from NY and have pizza that tastes like the box it comes in. Pros: Nada Cons: Everything more

Great Pizza! 12/16/2006

They come from New York and the quality of their pizza reflects it. Customer service isn't too great, but they are typical New Yorkers/New Jersey-ites. It's always fresh and tasty, we stick to their pizzas only though. Their sausage is different but better! If you are looking for better than chain-restaurant pizza, this is a great place. Not romantic at all though. Pros: Pizza quality Cons: Customer service more

More like New Jersey than New York 10/20/2006

Went twice, the 2nd time for ""benefit of the doubt""'s sake. This is like an old neighborhood joint---a neighborhood of the owner and the 3 regulars at the counter that is. \r \r The ""New York"" stuff on the walls looks as un-authentic and out of date as can be. It makes NYC look bad. The place looks it hasn't been cleaned in years. \r \r And the pizza, it's kind of average. No real New York flavor. \r \r I've spent a lot of time and eaten a lot of pizza in New York, and I've had better pizza in Trenton, NJ.\r \r The broad at the counter could probably get more done in that joint if she at least took one elbow off the counter. Pros: nothing Cons: everything more

Just told they were too busy to get my order right! 9/11/2006

Yes that right, a restaurant, a service business just told me that when they got my order wrong it was because they were too busy to get it right. What was my special request? NO Tomatoes on a sandwich and when I asked to get it corrected they said ""Just take the tomatoes off."" That is not an answer, the taste is still there and I HATE tomatoes. $15.00 [two Italian cold cuts] wasted.\r \r They are not any good at service, and the pizza dough is terrible.\r \r Never again Pros: Nothing Cons: Rude services they simply do not care if they screw up more

Crappy Customer Service 8/18/2006

The owners of Florio are extremely rude!!! They obviously are not from San Antonio and don't understand that being friendly is a very important part of the culture here. Customer service is a foreign concept to these folks.\r \r In addition, the interior of the place isn't so hot. It's doesn't correspond to the high caliber of the neighborhood where it's located. Moreover, they close to early on Saturday (9pm). What kind of restaurant closes that early on the weekend? Pros: Nothing Cons: Really Bad Customer Service more

So-So Pizza 6/10/2006

Thought I would give this place a try since it was so highly recommend by the numerous reviews. I tried it and it was ok, didnt find anything special about it. Now don't get me wrong, I love and enjoy New York style pizza pie just like the next guy but I can truly say that Ive had better. Are people rating this place so high just out of nostalgic for the East Coast? Yeah, the place does have an authentic New Jersey/ New York atmosphere to it but overall the pie was alright. Would I return, its possible but I wont go out of my way and make a trip across town. It just wasn't worth it. I still have the remaining pie sitting in my fridge. more

The real thing! 5/15/2006

If you are from the east.. this is just like home. I am from New Jersey and really miss pizza here in San Antonio. Florio's is great - sure wish there were more locations more
