not worth the price 12/7/2002

i've been to finale twice, and overpaid both times. the desserts are ok, i could make a better cake at home and not spend $50. my advice would be to save your money and go to a nice dinner where the desserts are comparable. the atmosphere is great though. Pros: atmosphere Cons: very expensive, dessert is overrated more

Disappointed 11/23/2002

After wanting to try Finale for over a year, I finally had the opportunity to go. Unfortunately, the service was less than stellar, and the dessert selections were actually not beyond what I have seen at many nice bistrots. The creme brulee was fantastic, but the molten chocolate only fair. Also, even though we were there at the early hour of 7pm, many selections were already gone! Also, the policy of special orders does not hold true - the staff were unwilling to substitute strawberries solo instead of the mixed berry assortment with the creme brulee. Pros: Location Cons: Service was subpar, lack of substitutions, Expensive more

The Price Isn't Quite Right 11/9/2002

Very, very pricey for what it delivers. $30 for a plate of varied chocolate desserts arranged like a sampling of finicky finger sandwiches or appetizers. $60 for a couple of desserts and rather ordinary cappuccino. The young server was friendly and admirably gracious, despite being overworked with an onslaught of post-theater-goers. The wait for a table wasn't that bad, though awkwardly cramped in the take-out section. Good desserts, for the most part, though not up to par with their price tags. All in all, I would have to say that Finale has an inflated vision of itself. Pros: Friendly service Cons: Over-priced more

Fresh Strawberry B-Cake 9/20/2002

Thanks Finale 8/26/2002

I LOVE THIS PLACE !!! I came to Boston and could not wait to visit Finale. We had a lite dinner of thier "" Prelude "" menu. The Arugula salad and White pizza was to die for. The server walked us through the menu and suggested the ""Port Flight"" since we were new to port. I got the Molten which was CHOCOLATE HEAVEN !! When I cut into it and the Chocolate oooozzzz'd out YUMMM!! and my friend got the Caramel Carnival ( only a mature palate would appreciate) . Our server was GREAT and very busy ! but guiding us through our "" Experience"" ever step. I LOVE THIS PLACE more

More Show, less substance 8/18/2002

Have been looking forward to going to Finale for two years. The concept is the best thingt there. The desserts were lacking in originality, and those desserts should have been done extremely well. Molten chocolate cake was all molten, no cake and could pose a hazard if using fresh eggs. Caramel carnivale was composed of bitter caramel mousse and some fermented fruit. Service was less than classy, calling us ""guys"" all night long. Not worth the $50 spent there. Will never go back! Pros: concept, menu pairings w/ wine Cons: crowded, expensive parking more

Decadent 8/7/2002

My boyfriend and I try to make it here after every play. After the first time we went there it inspired me to learn how to make Creme Brulee. I have to admit I've done a pretty darn good job after purchasing the special tart dishes, real vanilla beans and torch but nothing can compare to the atmosphere of Finale. Wonderful staff, delicious desserts, and romantic setting. Don't miss out, you must have a nice moscato along with your dessert to really get the true feeling of the experience. more

6 7/29/2002

Opening an all dessert cafe is a great idea but Finale should pay attention to the ""quality"" of what it serves. Also, as a world travelled, foreign born American, I find the desserts not very tastey and overpriced. In short, if this were Paris or even Manhattan, with current quality and prices, Finale would be my next to last choice. However, since they have very little competition, other than Four Seasons or the Ritz, people flock over. The clientelle has become mostley 20 somethings which makes for a non desirable ambiance for the rest of us. (I don't like you asking my age to register so I gave you a ficticious DOB). Pros: varriety, special events Cons: closed sundays, opens late in the day, staff not seasoned more

Encore 7/29/2002

When ever I have friends or business acqaintances come to N.E. and we travel to Boston we ALWAYS save desert for Finale's. We have never been disappointed the food and services has always been a 10! There is simply no comparison in the Boston area! It would be fun to have a special night once a month and have a food tasting - like a wine tasting. You could charge a fixed fee. Then describe the preparation of each selection. I know people would find that so entertaining and quite a treat. Also could do TV display of food preparation - thus view from your table from anywhere. Mike Olasin - 603 472-5780 Pros: watching preparation, quality food, service more
