had a coupon for lunch which didn't indicate that you can't use them on weekends. They declined our coupon and said it is the printing company's error and should have indicated that. This is basic principle: they should take it up with the printing company, and not upset the customers! Had the worst crab cake benedict you can imagine, was not worth the price they charged. Don't ever go there if you don't have to. Go to Catch 35, they charge less AND give you ALL CRAB in their crab cake. Pros: none, other restaurants way better Cons: bad crab cake benedict, too much bread crumbs more

I love to try out new restaurants and I picked out Farmerie 58 for valentine's dinner with my wife. Little did I know how much we would LOVE this place. Things didn't start off the greatest, I ordered a Mojito from the bar downstairs as we waited for our table. (We got their early) The dim lights and retro feel furniture were great, unfortunately the Mojito was the worst I ever had. But, that is the ONLY thing I can say went wrong that night. The friendly staff walked us to our window seat looking down to the street. Once again the ambience was great upstairs. We really liked the decor. The bread and spread we received was very tasty. For appetizers my wife ordered the Crab Saffron Fondue and I ordered the flaming maki. Both were to die for! The presentation with the flaming maki was superb. I didn't think i'd like my wife's appetizer, but it too was excellent! Now for the main course, I ordered the Grass-fed beef tenderloin and my wife ordered the Amish chicken breast.....Once again we were blown away by how delicious BOTH of these entrees were. I can only guess this has a lot to do with Farmerie 58 only using fresh hormone-free products. I have to admit I was skeptical at first, especially with them also serving sushi. But I must say everything was SUPERB! They also gave us a $20 gift certificate to comeback. What a great experience. I highly recommend!!!!!! Oh, one more thing....the music being played fit with the decor perfectly. I hope they stick with it :) Pros: Food, Atmosphere, Price, Variety Cons: Got a bad mojito more

Me and my fiance' truly enjoyed Farmerie 58 on New Year's Eve! The ambience was welcoming, friendly and romantic! The special 3 course menu w/champagne was scrumptuous and well priced! They even let us substitute one of the appetizers because it was in the same price range of what's being offered! This was only our second visit to this eclectic, stylish eatery. We stumbled upon it while waiting for a movie to start up the street. We spent time hear having drinks; noticed the advertisement for New Year's Eve and decided to come back! Considering their surrounding competition (Lawry's, Grand Lux, Heaven on Seven, & Four Points), I believe it was the best selection for fine dining, intimate setting, menu and value. Pros: Good portions in food and wine. Cons: They don't carry Couvoisier more

Nothing about this place makes me want to return to it! 2/17/2009

Was just at Farmerie58 on 2/11 for dinner. I ordered a burger which was good, but the bread was too thick and unchewable. My friend ordered the Bison pasta dish and thought it was wonderful. Desserts were just ok. EVERY table in the restaurant had table tents with free drink options, buy one, get one on the house except our table. It was never mentioned, even though our waitress was generous with her food tips when we asked her opinion. My friend and I had to ask for bread after watching other diners get bread, and the generous free drinks.......hmmmm??? What could that be about? Wish we had asked to hear the response. I won't be returning.........I don't like paying to be ignored......... Pros: decent atmosphere Cons: not offered the same amenities as other diners more

The pork belly appetizer was to die for and it was presented beautifully. We also had the short rib and the truffle chicken for our entrees - they were as equally amazing. 10/13/2008

This will be the best new restaurant and will have the best new Chef for Chicago. I haven't been to restaurant quite like this one and can't wait to go back. Pros: The food is some of the best in the city already - can't wait to see how it is after two or three months. Cons: Raw Bar with Sushi??? more
