Editorial review from Citysearch 12/10/2012

Like the other positive reviewers, I don't understand the negative review from 2 to 5 years ago. Perhaps there was a problem with the staff then. My experience was very different, like those of all reviewers in the past 18 months. The staff is friendly and very efficient. Care from Dr. Wollan is excellent. He thoroughly explained his diagnosis and advised against any additional, unnecessary testing. Highly recommended. more

Dr. Peter Wollan walks on water, as far 6/1/2012

Dr. Peter Wollan walks on water, as far as I'm concerned. He did cataract surgery on my right eye and the results are amazing. He is caring, kind, COMMUNICATES WELL, and I cannot recommend him highly enough. If there were 10 stars, I'd give them to him. Pros: null Cons: null more

Caring & knowledgeable doctors and staff 6/28/2011

I was quite concerned with my vision in one eye after experiencing something I described as a veil. I was able to get an appointment immediately. The doctor even asked if I wanted him to drive there at night to ease my mind and alleviate my anxiety at having to wait until the next day. Though I waited until the next day, the doctor took lots of time to explain everything and to answer all my questions. My follow up visit was even more comprehensive as I was seen by both a very caring technician and the doctor and they both spent lots of time with me. These folks make you feel like you are a VIP. more

Great place 6/21/2011

My wife and I have had great experiences with Eye Physicians of Austin. We've been seeing Dr. Buckingham for several years and she's always treated us well. Sure, there is an occasional wait and you do have to book a couple of months in advance, but to me that is a sign that they have a lot of business, which is a sign that they know what they're doing! more

Highly recommended 6/16/2011

I don't know why everybody on here is freaking out on their reviews. I love this place. I see Dr. Dai and have seen Dr. Pierce before and they are both great doctors. Yeah, you have to wait a while to get in, but tell me of any doctors office you don't have to wait at. I've been going here for a while and I wouldn't go anywhere else. Roger in contacts has gotten me seeing better than any other place I have ever been. I would highly recommend this place to anybody looking for an eye doctor. more

Thank you Dr. Roger and Lauren! 5/31/2011

I, too, have not had great experiences with my eye doctor here, however, Dr. Roger and Lauren in the contact lens department are absolutely wonderful! more

Don't go here 3/14/2011

I also had a bad experience. I was given an incorrect prescription for glasses, spent a wad on getting the glasses only to discover the px was incorrect. When I wanted to have a different doctor re-examine me, I was told that was not their policy. They always send you back to the doctor who gave you the Px in the first place. "Why," I asked them would I go back to the doctor who gave me an incorrect prescription to begin with?" Their answer: "It's our policy." Who made that policy? No good. Do not go there. more

Office manager TARA DEABLER very combative 10/8/2010

If you care about your eye sight DO NOT visit this establishment. The office managernTara Deabler was very rude and combative towards me. I wasnt satisfied with my currrent Dr there @ Eye Physicians of Austin, Dr Eric Dai, he's really young not to knowledgeable and I was told he was a specialist. I communicated this to her and requested a change of doctor. This didnt sit well with her. She was aggressive, defensive and finally said in her words 'it is what it is' unbelievable! She did not take inconsideration of my serious cornea complication, and she finally hung up on me. I felt it had to alot to do with my race and that fact that I am a man. She seems to be a women scorn. Not a good combo for an office environment. more

Horrible experience from start to finish 7/26/2010

I recently went here to get a regular eye exam. I had no problems, just needed a refill on my contact lens prescription. This place was HORRIBLE from start to finish. I got there about 15 minutes early, I went up to the receptionist for Dr. Wollan. She was on the phone. Instead of acknowledging me or telling whoever she was on the phone with to hold on, she just continued to talk and ignored me for about 5 minutes. She then rudely handed over paperwork that I guess I was supposed to fill out, so I filled them out. She then handed me other paper work to fill out, so I did. This whole time she is on the phone and does not say one word to me. She seemed annoyed and bothered that she had to check me in. Finally after 10 minutes, she got off of her phone call and did not even apologize and rudely stated that I needed to wait in the waiting area. I waited for about 30 minutes. The technician came and got me. She was pleasant, but seemed incompetent. During my eye exam, she barely checked my vision to see if it had changed. She kept showing me the same 2 lines and even though I read them completely different both times, she was like oh your vision is fine, no changes. She then proceeded to dilate my eyes. I then waited about 30 minutes for Dr. Wollan to come see me. He took about 2 minutes. Looked at both of my eyes and let me go. Before I left, he said that my eyes would be dilated for about 4 hours. They did not tell me ahead of time that they were going to dilate my eyes, so I had to drive with my eyes dilated. I'm so thankful I didn't get into a car accident. So, after I could focus, I looked down at my prescription, the MD or technician filled it out completely wrong for someone who's prescription "hadn't changed". It was completely different from what my vision was before. Another effect of this place is that my eyes have not stopped tearing since I left. I just went for a regular check-up :( Now, I have tearing and pain in my eyes and a prescription that is not even accurate. I'm going to another eye md. This place is horrible. I hope by writing this, I have saved one person from going to this horrible place. Pros: none Cons: the receptionist more

Not recommended 11/21/2007

I saw Dr. Robert Rock and was very disappointed. He didn't give me any chance to talk and I had to request time to even ask him a question. He "diagnosed" me within seconds of entering the room without any real exam. He seemed to ignore the fact that I had an infection despite obvious signs of an infection. Everytime I would try to speak I would get interrupted by him. I eventually stopped trying to talk and ask questions so he would just finish up so I could leave. The only positive experience I had there was Dr. Rock's assistant. He was a nice man and very compassionate. Everything else was abysmal. Pros: None really. Cons: Doesn't spend time with patients, no communication skills, poor care. more

DO NOT GO HERE - unless, that is you like being treated like a number 6/11/2007

We visited Eye Physicians of Austin yesterday afternoon and had a horrible experience - I don't recommend them to anyone. It was like a factory running at warp speed. The diagnoses were made without a thorough review. We first met with Dr. Rock who jumped to conclusions and could not get beyond his initial conceptions, even when presented with information that countered his notion. We eventually switched doctors mid-session because we felt like we were wasting our time and would obtain a very inaccurate diagnosis. Our second doctor was Dr. Pierce who was marginally better. I don't recommend this business; there are many other doctors in Austin who will treat each patient with respect and take the time necessary to make an accurate assessment of your particular issue. more
