I have bought there forever! Its the best gun shop anywhere near the North-West I was in there just today and they fixed me up really nice. Keith was a little bit snappy but he's ...

I have been to Keith's several times over the years. I live on the central Oregon coast so the drive is long and tiring. My first visit was met with a bunch of folks who all had a...

not good for trade ins 3/7/2008

either not knowleagable about guns or dishonest. Good prices, that is it. dont have anybody else to recommend, you will have to do own research about your gun or guns you want to own. gunblast dot com is good but generally no gun mags will seriously crticize any gun because they depend on loaner samples. more

Surprised...received great customer service!! 3/2/2008

After reading other reviews we expected horrible customer service and were prepared for it...but surprise, surprise, we got great customer service, even on a Saturday! This was my first time there, and I went for the prices and selection...will be going frequently. more

Common theme bad customer service, nuf said? 2/22/2008

I've known these people since they were only selling at gun shows and the back door of their house. I lived about four houses down from them back then. Even knowing them personally I have never felt welcome in their store. I know you big shot, big time buyers know your stuff and ya I could do some research, but is it too much to have a couple minutes of one on one? I now live about five blocks from their new(and old) shop and am in the market to buy a new gun,I am diligently looking to buy from some one else. can anyone suggest a dealer with some tact and knowledge who wont make me feel like I am wasting their time? Or do I have to resort to the buy and run tactics of Keith's? I personally would prefer to see my 5% profit due to the dealer go to someone who will give me a little bit of their precious time, Oh and the people who are giving 5 stars are either part of the Keith crew ,related, or best friends, cause there is no way this place could ever get 5 stars, not even the president of the good old U.S. would get that service from them! Pros: Ya its true they have great inventory and prices Cons: Horrible cust. service, tactless answers to simple questions, more

If you can ignore the horrible service Kieths is for you, Best price and selection in town 2/18/2008

You can't beat the pricing or selection. HOWEVER! I have bought a .22 Walther and a Glock 40cal. from Kieth's on price alone. I took my father in to buy a handgun and we could not get anyone to help us. It was the poorest service I have recieved since a bad McDonalds trip. The staff ignores you, is very ""stand-offish"" and are just a bunch of smug jerks. Dont go in on a weekend unless you love crowds and worse service. Try not to ask any questions, because between the jerks behind the counter and the inbred hicks on the other side of the counter have a way of making you feel like they are doing you a favor by selling you a firearm. I guess you have to attend sniper school or be force-recon guy to get service in this hole in the wall. \r \r All and all, the prices are great, the guns are clean and they have a great inventory. The staff is horrible... period!!!!!! more

Great Service 2/7/2008

Today I purchased a Springfield Armory SOCOM II rifle from Keith?s. I had wonderful service, the transaction was quick and I would come back again. I?m surprised by all the hateful comments posted. I think most of the haters are the type that like to browse for hours without buying anything or don?t know s**t about firearms. If you truly enjoy firearms this place has an amazing selection!! Pros: Great prices and selection of firearms Cons: Long drive from Lake Oswego more

Good Prices, Good Inventory 1/4/2008

Service is a bit flakey but if you know guns they seem to warm up a bit. I have bought several guns there because of the price and selection. If they do not have it they can order it for you and get it pretty quick.\r \r Keep in mind is that they almost always have several guns on the counter at any one time. The employees are busy watching them and the customers handling them. Pilferage may be just the cost of doing business at most retail stores but it is literally a Federal event at a gun store.\r \r Guess my thought is that if you want warm and fuzzy, a gun store is probably not the right place. Pros: Price, selection Cons: Best to understand what you want and do your homework first more

KSG is the best dealer in town. 12/7/2007

I understand why some people are put off by Keith and staff, because at first I was too. I have spent nearly $10,000 with them over the last 10 years and once I even bought a registered Class III. After that I was part of the family and their attitude (or my perception of it) was no longer an issue.\r \r I see what gun store workers go though every day with self appointed experts , hanger-ons, tourists, punks and all the other characters who they have to put up with; I couldn't do it.\r \r KSG know their guns and they are very upfront about their new gun prices. Last time I checked the markup on new guns was 5% over $500 or $50 under $500; that's fair. At those prices, they are not Wal-Mart or Home Depot and will not take things back because there is a problem; you deal with the manufacturer. \r \r So you decide. if you want reasonable prices and good selection, go to KSG. If you are willing to pay more to be stroked, go somewhere else. As for me, I'll go with price and selection every time.\r \r I love the new store Keith, keep doing what you're doing! Pros: Prices and selection Cons: Takes a while to get used to the staff, but worth the effort. more

As good as it gets: the best there is. 11/27/2007

My writing this review is to help the public who reads City Search. Many of you know me from the Expo Center Gun Shows, where I have had a table for twenty-one years; there I am known as ""Stainless"". For twelve years I have placed the vast bulk of my acquisitions happily with Keith's Sporting Goods. The inventory and prices at KSG's are the best and need no further comment. The service is never bettered at other shops. As any of you, who know me, know, my product choices and information needs can be unbelievably unusual and demanding. Keith and his staff have always given me the best help possible. Sometimes my product and informational desires go beyond that which exists, and I have to sculp the artwork myself; but, without exception, Keith and his longtime help have, or will get, the answers as I need them. If someone feels that he or she has not received all of the information or service that they desire, then, please, ask to speak with Keith or his very helpful wife, Maria. They will take care of you, as they have always taken care of me. Pros: I drive twenty-five miles to get there for their service. Cons: They are twenty-five miles away from home. more

Ok prices, great selection, service? 11/23/2007

I have been to Keith's store location a couple of times. I was surprised to read the reviews here because I had the same experience... These guys are usually swamped, but when they are not, they are still lacking in service skills. In fact its not just service skills they lack, its civility they lack. However, they did have the ammo I wanted and after waiting 20min to get a guy to grab it off the shelf, I was on my way. My next visit to check out pistols was not as good.\r \r However, these guys are friendly at the gun shows. \r \r I'm not sure what the problem is, but their business will pay the price. I'm not interested in trying to fix them by commenting.....\r \r Go in with your purchase in mind, after having investigated your purchase elsewhere. Buy what you need and go. Thats what they seem to expect anyhow. \r \r This shop is not for the novice buyer. If you want to shop for a pistol, not sure what you need, etc, go to sportsmans surplus or another place. \r \r I will buy online before I put up with someplace like Keiths to save a buck. I do look at their layout at each gunshow since I can handle/checkout the items without problems from the Keiths folks.\r \r Pros: Big selection Cons: No service, rude service more

Awesome selection... 11/20/2007

I shop at Keith's on a regular basis and have bought a few firearms from them. They have a great selection and know what they're talking about. Every time i have been in there and asked a question the person helping me didn't know they found some one who did. I am in the military and hate going into Sportsman's or GI Joes and have to listen to some punk ass18 year old pizza face tell me about how to shoot a weapon or what he thinks. I really don't care what they think. I even had a guy at Sportsman's tell a friend of mine, who had just purchased an AR-15 there, tell him where/how to mount a optic. He was completely wrong he said ""this is how the military guys do it."". Thats why I shop at Keith's. For how busy they are I think they have good customer service. They are entirely too busy to let every one walk through the door fondle every gun in there. Which people do. Even as a young guy walking in there they never treated me like some dumb kid in there to stare at guns. I plan on making all my future firearm purchases there. Like i said, great selection and if your a serious buyer, great customer service and the knowledge to back it up. Also, they have a huge selection of ARs and accessories. I just bought a Remington 870 Tactical Magnum and they have a good selection of tactical shotguns too. My only complaint is parking and its get a little cramped when they are busy. Pros: Selection, Knowledge Cons: Parking, a little cramped. more

Rude and disrespectfull, actually maddening people. 11/14/2007

I agree with many others here that some of the people at Kieths are simply awful. I bought a pistol and holster there a few years back and they were smart alecks and not respectfull of their customers.\r \r I recently took in a pistol and a rifle to put on consighnment or sell. I thought the offer was low, but that was not the problem. \r The problem started when Kieth was eating a pizza and then started fingering my immaculate, clean rifle with his greassy fingers. And then without even asking my permission started taking the stock apart to see why there was a gap where it fit together. \r I did not ask him to take it apart and I did not like him taking it apart, especially without asking me first. Trying to be nice I kept my mouth shut.\r He fixed this insignifigant gap and then in that smart aleck way said, I should charge you $200.00 for that work. I felt like telling him, ok fine but you owe me $300.00 for me to re clean it, but kept my mouth shut.\r Then he started to lay my rifle down, (which had not a single mark on the stock) on top of my pistol, which would have scratched the stock.\r This behavior is consistent with not respecting the customer or his property and being a smart aleck which make people angry.\r The clincher came when I started to leave, I told him I would have to think about it. Kieth then gave me what I would call a dirty look and said, that price is good only for today, I cant gaurantee what I will give you if you come back. \r I was really caught off gaurd by this one. I felt like saying, what is this a used car lot??? With high preassure tactics. Again I somehow managed to keep my mouth shut.\r Suffice it to say I wont be back for anything, to buy or sell.\r By the time I got to my truck I was so p...off that I actually went back into the store to have some words with Kieth, but he was busy with someone else, just as well I guess. One should always try to keep his mouth shut when he is angry.\r Why deal with people like that anger you. Yuk! Pros: Decent selection Cons: irritating disrespectfull people more

Avoid the Gun Room, Sportsman's Wharehouse and GI Joes....Keith's Rocks!!!! 11/12/2007

Amazing little store. Lots of counter help. Friendlly and compitative with pricing (Recoil reducer I bought for my shotgun I saved 20% from the Sportsman's wharehouse. I really belive there moto ""If they don't have it, you probablly don't need it."" Gun Room poor all around. more

Oregon's highest volume gun dealer 10/29/2007

Absolutely the best inventory and the cheapest prices anywhere in Portland. It took me a year or so to get to know some of the help. They are not the most congenial folks in the world, but get a life guys, this is a high volume gun shop. You want friendly, go some place else. The folks here don't usually have time to chit chat. What ever you do in the Porland area, DO NOT BUY A GUN AT ""The Gun Room"" unless you want to get screwed big time. \r \r Pros: Price and selection Cons: Parking, no milk and cookies. more

Great selection but needs new staff 10/26/2007

Keith's has a great selection of guns and etc. but when it comes to customer service they are awful. I went into their store and I asked them if I could see a Taurus .22 semi. They showed me it and I asked two associates what the trigger pull was. They said ""I don't know"". I asked them ""Why do they not know, your selling guns aren't you suppose to know about them?"" and one of them gets snippy with me and stated ""We have a life and we don't stay here and learn about guns."" When he said that I was shocked. I then went on to ask if they have a chart with the specifications or a box with the specifications on it. They stated ""We have over 4000 types of guns and we don't have time to check it all out just for you."" At that point I told them I'll never come back into this store again especially if they have no knowledge of what they are selling and because of that they must have crappy products (Probably why its so cheap there in the first place.) How can you work at a store and now know what you sell? I am not going to go back there and I would rather spend more money and go to a place where the associates are way more pleasant to deal with. more

Good price, good selection, horrible people. 10/14/2007

Hands down, I would have to say that Keith's has the best selection in Portland and have some reasonable prices. But the problem is they also have the worst customer service. I have never been so p'd off by a sales person as the old man at keith's. I wish I could get past that because of their selection, but it was just too much. I will spend a little more money and go down the street. Pros: selection, prizes Cons: sales jerks more

great place! 9/28/2007

i've read all the reviews, and while i have not yet bought anything from Keith's, I have to say i was a bit worried about going into the shop being a female. However, i had a really great time talking to the couple of guys that helped me and NEVER did i feel uncomfortable in the shop. \r \r because of this customer service I WILL be returning to Keiths to purchase my gun and ammo. more

Shop elsewhere 9/17/2007

Kieths does have a great selection but other than that everything su cks. Horrible customer service, not friendly at all, and very unhelpful. They should treat people much much better considering they are spending so much money. some bad experiences... Ammo marked wrong and charged differently for, I called later and they wouldn't refund they money, ""someone must have mislabeled it."" great like that is my fault. I then called sportsmans warehouse and they had the EXACT same ammo for 10 dollars cheaper. Another bad experience.... Bought laser grips for a pistol and they failed to tell me they wouldn't fit unless I had the gun worked on by their gunsmith. Thanks for that now I have to pay an additional 60 dollars. Id say spend the extra few minutes driving to sportsmans warehouse if you would like better service and better business. But don't go to GI Joes, the people working in sporting goods are near retarded more

Great selection, good people, direct answers 7/2/2007

I found Keith's about 10 years ago by complete luck as I was just in the area. I was impressed by the selection, and the staff new what I wanted and what they had that would work, or not. I have brought friends there since then and they love the staff and the selection, providing a percentage of their income to support the firearms industry. ""Keith's is a real gun shop"" to quote a friend of mine. Later Keith's provided equipment for my agency and several others in the area, and we get what we need, on time. He provides quick, direct answers when I need them and he gets me the information I need if he doesn't have it, which isn't that often. He even gives me the information if it doesn't help his bottom line, which I can't say about other suppliers. I deal with Keith because his prices are fair, and he answers my questions. What more do you want, it isn't a cafe, it is a business. Pros: Most production guns I have seen in one place in Oregon Cons: Parking more

Best prices, best selection, great people 6/15/2007

Here is my take on Keith's, I've been buying guns from Keith's for over 10 years & have bought over 50 guns from him. No, I'm not a terrorits, just a gun enthusiast. My experirence at Keith's has been all positive. I like him, his wife and his staff. True they do get very busy & that's why you may not get royalty treatment but come on folks each one of them can only do 5 things at one time, let's be reasonable. The rudeness that some of you are experiencing may be due to their propensity for joking around. They do that sometimes but it is only for fun. Keith's Sporting goods have the best selection in town, & the best prices, bar none. Believe me, I shop around for guns all the time at nearly all gun shows in the state and all the gun shops (local & non-local). Keith's have them beat hands down. As for service, it is quite good, I've never had any problems.\r \r Here is what I think about adamsmith54 (the guy who bought a rifle and had the ammo problem), if you don't know the difference between 22/223/223WSSM then you really shouldn't even be buying firearms, you have only yourself to blame and to expect Keith to take the gun back you must be out of your mind. Once the gun passes the back ground check it belongs to you. The only way Keith is going to take it back is to purchase it from you as a used gun becasue he can not sell it as a new gun whether it has been fired or not. It's the law. \r \r Here is a message for kwashington, no gun shop that I'm aware of will provide you with a scale so you can weigh your guns. I've been to many gun shops and they just don't provide that service. \r \r As for pdxsnap, you mentioned that Keith's did not show you how to load the gun or show you which way to pont it. All I can say is: Come On , no one is going to baby sit you. Get real.\r \r Overall, I'm very please with my firearm purchase experience at Keith's and will continue to shop there. I highly recommend Keith's to everyone. Pros: Great prices, selection, super staff Cons: A little bit too crowded at times more

Why I enjoy Keith's... 6/14/2007

I went into Keith's several times before I decided to purchase my gun from them. I looked at how they handeled customers, both new and old. I liked what I saw, and liked how I was treated when I was there. I do enjoy the fact that they treat all customers the same, be it military, police,or civiian. I did alot of shopping around before I decided to buy my gun from Keith's as well as shopped around for good Ammo prices...and Keith's came up the winner in my book. Granted some of their ammo is at times more expensive then the larger shops, but that differance is usually only a few cents. Ive found some places to be more expensive then Keith's...the differance would range between 20 cents to at times 2 dollars. \r The only thing I can say thats bad about the customer service is...I dont get a cup of hot tea and a foot rub when I come in....kidding kidding... Outside of that, I recomend the shop to all my friends and family. \r \r Cliff notes : \r \r Staff knows what they are talking about.\r Good prices. \r Good location. Pros: Location, info, supplies Cons: Parking. more
