I have bought there forever! Its the best gun shop anywhere near the North-West I was in there just today and they fixed me up really nice. Keith was a little bit snappy but he's ...

I have been to Keith's several times over the years. I live on the central Oregon coast so the drive is long and tiring. My first visit was met with a bunch of folks who all had a...

Fair prices, but not enough savings to justify the POOR service 12/11/2008

Fair to good prices and large selection. But that's where the positive ends.\r \r Like others have stated, the customer service is NON EXISTENT. They are RUDE, curt, and condescending - but that' only if you can get someone to help you. I went in to pick up my firearm (purchased earlier at a gun show) and planned on getting accessories, ammo - the works. However, after trying to get someone to help me, all the while watching the arrogant attitudes of the staff, by the time I could get a salesman to help me, I was pretty turned off. I was basically shoved out the door since I had already ""made my purchase"" and was there to simply pick up a gun. They TOTALLY missed the opportunity for the extra few hundred I was prepared to spend. Needless to say I will be spending my money elsewhere. I don't need red carpet service, but is it too much to ask for courtesy and basic service?\r \r Overall I am so disappointed that it isn't worth saving a FEW bucks to get treated like I am a bother. Pros: Fair to good prices, large selection Cons: POOR customer service. NOT friendly. Rude. No parking, location more

Good selection, fair prices 12/5/2008

Keith's is probably the best gun shop in town, they would have received 5 stars if the weren't so busy all the time. I have only purchased 2 guns from them but both were good experiences. The first gun purchased was a Kahr k-40, I bought it used and got a fair price on it. In fact there were 2 identical guns one was $50 cheaper when I asked the salesmen about the price difference he said simply one man wanted less for his pistol than the other, there for they weren't asking as much. That was honesty right there, Keith's could have easily sold both pistols at the same price. My second purchase was a Sig 556. I had gone there to buy the SWAT version but after talking to Keith himself he informed me that the price was inflated and the add ons weren't worth the extra money. I ended up getting a great deal on the base model and had enough left over to get an EOtech. To sum it up if your looking to drool over guns your not intending on buying then go to Sportsman's, Keith's is crowded enough with out all you idiots in the way. Know what you want before you go, just buy it from Keith's. more

We don't want your business. Honest. Please don't stop by. Please don't bother us 12/5/2008

I've been in this store a dozen or more times, and have purchased a fair bit of ammo, two or three pistols, one rifle, and one conversion kit, to convert a 9mm to a .22. In each case, I paid the asking price. No haggling. \r \r Every time I have been made to feel as if my mere presence - much less my interest in spending my money there, was a bother Chat? Oh, heck no. Don't try to talk to us about anything, including guns. \r \r And if you come in less than twenty minutes before closing, they will tell you up front that they leave at closing time, sharp, so make your mind up quickly.\r \r They have a great selection, and prices on some items are fine. But I'd rather spend my money some place where my business was appreciated. I'd pay more to be be treated as if I were a valued customer. Yuck. more

Decent Selection, Middling Prices, Poor Customer Service 12/1/2008

There's been a fair number of gun shops I've visited but never one that irritated me in the same way as Keith's. The most startling example of this has to be on my second visit: After much consideration and research, I decided to spend the money on an FN Five Seven. I get to the store, proceed to be ignored for a good 45 minutes then be treated as though I'm a burden for being interested in purchasing a thousand dollar gun. Really, I felt as though they were expecting some sort of apology.\r \r Then the real fun starts. I'd read time and again how light and fairly pleasant the gun is to hold. Who could ever guess I'd want to hold the thing. Apparently the salesman didn't see that one coming. To his merit, he at least had the brains to open the chamber for me before handing it over. On a side note, the first time I was there they handed me guns without checking them. Regardless, I took the gun from him and took a quick look in the chamber out of habit. Empty, great. Being a lefty, using a right handed release (it is reversible on this gun) is somewhat of a trick shall we say. Of course, being new, it was stiff so I swapped it over to my right hand and popped the mag. SNAP. The slide came ripping forward. Surprise, the salesman hadn't locked it fully back! Certainly made me jump but it's an easy mistake to make.\r \r I really wouldn't have cared in the least but the salesman then asked me what the hell was I thinking slamming the slide closed like that. Excuse me? This guy's mistake could have stung like hell if my hands weren't well clear. I informed him in the politest terms I could muster that I had pressed the mag release which should hardly cause the slide to come crashing forward unless perhaps it wasn't locked back correctly. Looking completely indignant, he tried to inform me that I clearly didn't understand the workings of sophisticated guns. I couldn't help but laugh as I left the store! Pros: Decent selection, probably one of the better in Portland. Some good prices. Cons: Know the value of what you're planning to buy. You can't rely on them to have all around good prices. more

Charged to use my own money for a purchase at their store...RIPOFFS! 12/1/2008

This business says that they accept Visa/Mastercard...not true!! I was trying to make a purchase for like $1300 bucks and was told that I had to enter in my PIN number inorder to avoid a 3% charge to my card!! How ridiculous...this place obviously doesnt want my business. If a business posts signs saying that they acept Visa/Mastercard then they must take it regardless of the amount, and they can't make addtional charges on their customers purchases if they choose to sign for their transaction or use their PIN. I would have been charge an extra $39.00 to use my own debit card. RIPOFFS!!!! more

Keith's Sporting Goods 11/17/2008

The Good - Extremely fair prices and a great selection of guns. They also have large quantities of demanded items.\r \r The Bad - I went in on a Friday at about three o'clock. It was crowded and very busy. Due to the President Elect, I expect this to be the norm for the foreseeable future. Try going at non-peak hours.\r \r The Ugly - Keith was walking next to the ammo shelf and tripped over a stool. It was pretty funny.\r \r My Advice - Know what you want and go in and get it. They are good, busy people. more

Sad but true 11/8/2008

Wow,I was looking to get Keith's ph.# on line,I need an item.So here I am.I started reading the reviews,all\r I can say is wow!!I thought I was alone in my impression of their store?Guess Not! I bought an 1873 Win.\r last year.It is true their store would be perfect if they cared that they had customers. They must hate what they see as looky -lou's because it was like pulling teeth to get anyones attention.I hate to be bugged either but they just weren't going to talk to me.The first guy who I finally BUGGED was RUDE.I just about left, but I was determined. The second Guy was much better and we accomplished something!! I had to get pushy to get what I wanted.THAT is a real weird thing, but is a fact!GOOD thing you can read a review and know what to expect, because I was shocked.Too badmore

Very friendly, I dont know what some others are talking about. 10/31/2008

I bought my first gun here and they were very friendly. I didn't know much and they answered all my questions. The only negative thing is they were very busy because of so many customers, but how can you blame someone for doing a lot of business? Will definately shop again. more

Kieth's guns, no hand holding, juist good selection 10/28/2008

The reason the guys at Kieth's guns don't greet self-entitled whiners with a sloppy kiss, is because they expect their customers to know what they want. I don't want anybody bothering me when I'm looking at the product until I'm ready to plunk down the cash. I know what I want...they know it , too. Stop snivllin' and man up. Pros: Great selection and price Cons: They're in Oregon, peoples Republic of. more

If you like guns and great service go to Keith's 10/23/2008

Keith's has great pricing and exceptional service! I had purchased a firearm with a barrel defect and Keith replaced it with a new firearm, no questions asked! Very happy customer, he has earned my future business and I would recommend them to anyone! more

Poor customer service......Sportsmans got my cash!!! 10/16/2008

I have been in Keiths before and experienced some pretty poor customer service. Today I decided to try it again since I live in Gresham and have decided that I needed a new auto loader for duck and goose hunting. Once again I stood in the store for at least 30 minutes without anyone even saying they would be right with me. Instead everyone that was working (I user that term lightly) there was just talking about past hunting trips. This gun shop does have an excellent selection of firearms but from what I have noticed on both of my visits is that they must be doing just fine financially and not care if they make a sale or not. Well needless to say I did purchase my new Berreta auto loader today and I want to thank Sportsmans for their great customer service. more

No warm fuzzies - just good deals! 9/12/2008

If you expect the salespersons at Keith's to give you a big warm fuzzy then you will be disappointed. If you want a good and fair deal then Keith's is the place to go. I've been a customer with them for several years and they are extremely consistent. The selection is extraordinary, the deals (both sales and trade in) are very fair. And that is that. If you want a lot of tender, loving, warm, care and attention go to church. If you want a good deal then go to Keith's! more

Terrible Service 9/8/2008

Service is TERRIBLE. Salespeople are rude and lack knowledge. If all you want is selection, then Keith's fits the bill, but if you need assistance, forget it. I suggest you look elsewhere, as these people don't seem to need any more business . . .or want it. I will never buy another gun from this company. Pros: large selection Cons: TERRIBLE service; rude sales people; staff lacks knowledge more

Hostile to non-existent service to go with great selection and good prices... 8/3/2008

I've been there twice, and I have not purchased anything, because I could not get anyone to talk to me. The things I was looking for were not readily visible in the cases, and all I wanted was someone to acknowledge my presence and ask me what I needed. I don't particularly even care about price, and the websites of the manufacturers of the things I was looking for show Keith's as the only stocking dealer in Oregon. So if they had so much ask talked to me, I would have bought. Instead, I stood around for almost half an hour trying to catch someone's eye and then left. Admittedly, one of these trys was on a Saturday, and it was booming in there. The other day it was not so busy, though, and someone could have at least said, ""be right with you"".\r \r Look, 30 some reviewers here have said, I went on a Saturday and service was terrible. Hire some more people to work on Saturday. You know what? You'll sell more stuff. \r \r They do have a good selection of both new and used firearms, and prices seem reasonable. But the experience was not a positive one at all, and it is a long drive out there from most places in Portland. If they have what you want, or you are not sure what you want and are looking for a store where they'll spend some time with you, go to Northwest Armory. By all means, avoid the Gun Room, where the prices are ridiculous and the guy's sales tactics will try to push you in to buying something you don't need to prove you're man enough.\r \r Pros: Service, Staffing levels on busy Saturdays, attitude Cons: Selection, price more

Great customer service 8/1/2008

Wrong, wrong, wrong! Went in wednesday 7/30/08 to buy a ruger single six and ruger MarkII/III semi. Dont know a lot about guns and found them very helpful in my search. Ended up buying the single six new for $380 and a used MarkII for $225. I knew to go to bi-mart for my new ruger 10/22, paid $175. Now only need to buy my M1A battle rifle and good bolt action remington 700. Ended up back at Keith's on friday 8/1/08 to look at a Rem. 700 sps varmint, clerk went out of his way to show me the gun in .223, I wanted .308 so he went on the computer to see if itwas in stock, no luck. I knew I would buy when it came in and asked if he'd help reccomend rings,plate,scope,bi-pod and ammo. I told him I'd just buy it all today to save time later. Before ringing me out he said let me run down to the basement and just check if there was a possible holdover from the gun show. And you know what there was! We did the paperwork and then they mounted and sighted my weapon happily. It was great customer service and no I'm not related to any of them, and this new shooter will be back when I can afford the M1A. (before the election in november though, just in case). Pros: service, knowledge, price, selection Cons: long drive , parkings tight more

Best prices in Portland Metro area and good service, long drive but worth it. 5/3/2008

I was looking to buy a Kel-tec P-3at and checked it out at a local gun store in Hillsboro, and they wanted 120 dollars more than what i bought it for at Keith's. The place was busy but I got serviced in 10 minutes all my questions answered. The service was good for me, especially for a Saturday and be very busy. I would recommend going to Keith's. The 45 minute drive saved me 120 bucks. Pros: Prices, Selection more

Just can't beat it 5/3/2008

I have bought five guns from keith's, and their customer service isn't happy go lucky, but then again I'm not going in there for a coke and a smile. I go in there cause they have hands down the best selection I've ever seen. The sales people know their stuff and have always answered every question I could come up with. I have referred several friends to their store all whom decided to buy there. If your looking for a gun store to make you feel warm and fuzzy this isn't your place, but if you want the best selection, the best knowledge, and best price the you wont beat keith's. I would be real hesitant to buy anywhere else evan after moving to Vancouver. Did anyone ever think they don't have ""great customer service"" because their not trying to pusha sale on you? Pros: price, selection, knowledge more

Good transaction 4/16/2008

After reading reviews on this site I was VERY hesitant to go into Keith's but alas price won out. I called around to 2 other major shops around town (gun broker, sportsman's warehouse ) and asked for their price on a HK USP 9mm. Sportsmans was the cheapest but they didn't have any and was only cheaper because they we discontinuing the model. Keiths was only a little higher so I drove out there to pick one up. Unfortunately when I got there they didn't have anymore. The girl who helped me showed me the only 9mm they had left and it was the expert model for quite a bit more than I was quoted. She listened to me whine about not getting the gun I wanted at the price I wanted. As I was walking away I noticed in their used case a nice p229 in 9mm that was more or less brand new. The price was outstanding so had her ring it up. \r \r From start to finish of my transaction I was there 45 minutes. The background check took longer than I expected but that was because she was phoning 4 in at one time. \r \r Every person who was working there that day asked me if I needed help. I was pleasantly amazed. I'll definitely be willing to go back for future purchased. \r I would have given Keith's 5 stars but I did have 1 complaint with their shop. Their ammo isn't marked with the price (with the exception of their sale items) and I wouldn't want to eat up a salesperson's time by asking how much every different box costs. more

Good selection, mediocre service. 4/12/2008

Bought a Benchmade knife there a while back. The price was good, but the guy behind the counter literally didn't know anything about knives, much less Benchmade knives. It was like I had to educate him about knives so that he could find the knife I was looking for. \r \r Excuse me for being picky, but if you want to sell something, know the product. I mean, if you're selling Benchmade knives, and you don't know what an ""axis lock"" is . . . . well, I don't know what to say. Find another business. The dude was probably one of Keith's relatives, recently discharged from some other job, or something like that. But -- good selection, good price. So there's the good and the bad. My advice: only go there if you are an educated buyer. more
