Delicious as always

Worst

The food was soggy. I have eaten from Dumont plenty of times and was always satisfied. They must of had an off day.

This order was terrible. Everything came cold and soggy. They didn't include sauce for the fried pickles and replaced the cookie with a brownie without notifying me. If I had wanted a brownie, I would've ordered a brownie. more

dumont meatloaf 1/18/2011

This place is a far cry from a burger joint. Any place that has to add to the meat is nothing quality. Everyone talks about this place like its something great but its the location not the food or service. If you really want a great burger walk to williamsburger now that's a real burger joint. more

new chef....bad for good food 12/7/2009

I recently went to dumont and like always ordered the chickpea burger with the tzatziki and what a huge dissapointment. I was told by the waitress when I called back to ask if they had changed chefs and she said yes and also metioned that I wasn't the first person to place such a complaint and she asked me if I wanted the owner to call me back to ask me what was wrong....still waiting...Way to follow thru!! Pros: not sure Cons: the choices for vegetarians is gone more

Best cheap burger in town 12/4/2009

Great flavor, so affordable, and you don't have to wait 20 minutes for a table like over at Diner. Burgers tend to arrive more well-done than I request, but it's still incredible. A million times better than Anytime, food arrives fresh, hot, and fries are crisp. Pros: Delivery, great flavors more

Another Reason Why Williamsburg is Overpriced and Overhyped 12/27/2008

I am not a foodie but I know a good burger. Paul's Da Burger Joint in Manhattan, Jackson Hole in Queens, Shake Shack in Gramercy Park, Corner Bistro in the Village, all qualify as being a good place for grabbing a really good burger. Today, I tried DuMont Burger and I was not just dissatisfied, but just plain mad. Pros: The french fries and pickles. That's it. Cons: $15 for just a cheeseburger. more

A little bit of a wait for a great burger 12/27/2007

We showed up towards the end of the night (it was after midnight and one of the few open places we could find), so that might have something to do with how long we had to wait. We got our burgers medium, but it seemed to take an age for them to arrive. In the meantime, though, we enjoyed some good music and some reasonably priced Brooklyn beers. There aren't any proper tables, just stool seating at the bar or counters around the room, which is small, but wasn't too cramped because there weren't a ton of people there. We both would have preferred a table. The bartender was also our server, and he was attentive and very nice--he gave us free drinks because we were there late and he felt generous. The burger was really good, with a lot of cheese selections (gruyere was delicious) available. The onion rings on the side were a great complement, possibly made with a beer batter (we're not sure) but really good. Definitely a good spot to dive in for a quick late night meal. As a side note, I tried to write that the onion rings ""h i t"" the spot, but apparently that is an inappropriate word. What's up CitySearch? Pros: Good burger, good service, late night possibility Cons: Stool seating, cramped eating area more

You will wait for your mediocre burger 8/26/2007

My fiance and I attempted to go on a Saturday night around 8:00 and the hostess told us the wait would be around 20 minutes, so 20 minutes later, we checked on our status and she said, 'oh, it won't be long...about 20 minutes"". We decided to come back another time. So we did, on another Saturday at around 6:30 and the place was empty. We were excited! We sat at the bar that had a bartender and ordered quickly (two burgers, medium, one with salad and one with fries - I loved that they offer salad or fries...they seemed to know their customer) and then we waited...and waited...for about 25 minutes. When the burgers finally arrived we were famished and started eating...my burger was very juicy but overcooked and so thick I could barely get my mouth around it. I know this is a personal preference thing, but I prefer a thinner burger (they offer a mini-5 oz size...if there's a next time I will order that instead, and medium-rare.) The meat was very good quality, and the pickle slices sweet and interesting-tasting...I couldn't place what was in the salad dressing but that was the only thing that knocked my socks off. While I hate it whenever I can't identify a flavor in something, I was very impressed...the greens were very fresh and was the perfect accompaniment to the giant burger. The fries were a tad greasy but were crisp and fresh. We shall continue our quest for the 'best burger in NYC' as this just wasn't it. I will say that I love the main restaurant, Dumont, and this shouldn't overshadow any opinions of the food there. Pros: who doesn't like a burger?, salad or fries option Cons: doesn't live up to expectations as the word 'burger' is in the name, small and cramped more

Overrated burgers...hardly NYC's best burger 3/17/2007

I think my expectations were too high, but the burgers at Dumont Burger were very disappointing. Greasy as hell, and mine smelled faintly of fish (not sure why, but there is fish sandwich on the menu). The accompanying salad was so salty I couldn't eat it. The fries were good though, fat and crispy. Service was fine, but it was very cold in the restaurant, kind of uncomfortably cold. And thats because it's currently cold outside, but the place seems to have no heat and no insulation. Pros: Good Fries Cons: Greasy Burger more

I Don't Know..... 3/15/2007

I hate that I'm even doing this, but it has to be done. I was a regular here. I love the food at Dumont Burger. Yummy, fun, filling, comforting. But their staff is a complete waste!!! The last two times I went in there (on random weekday afternoons when maybe 4 other people were there) and I couldn't get service. The waitress/bartender KNEW I was there. I asked for the menu (wanted to try something different), never got one. Asked for a beer, never came. Lazy, useless waitstaff. This is too bad because this should be a gem in Williamsburg. Same goes for their restaurant Dumont. Prententious and annoying - and this place doesn't deserve to be like that. Man, make people feel welcome. You lost so many customers (all my friends and hey, I have lots) because of bad service. Get with the program or you'll be closed in a year. It took me a long long time to write this, but I'm only doing it because, well, I'm mad. I really want these places to do well. Pros: yummy food, & beer choices Cons: Euro-service, useless waitstaff, can't get a menu, burgers are overcooked. more

Best burger in Brooklyn 3/11/2007

I love Dumont Burger. Let me say it again. I love Dumont Burger. It is a cozy, simple space that serves consistently good bar food. The beef burger is thick and juicy, placed on toasted ciabatta buns, and comes with a pile of fries or green salad. The vegetarian burger kind of reminds me of a falafel and is also delicious. I tend to have the beef burger when I go, but it's very hard to resist their mac and cheese which is fantastic. Pros: Burgers more

A tiny bar with good burgers.... 2/22/2007

Dumont serves good burgers and cooks them precisely to your specifications (a well-done burger leans on the burnt side) but lacks in just about everything else. Though the burger is good, the fries are not thick cut and are a bit oily. Pros: Good burgers Cons: Tiny space; no tables more
