DuMont Burger

I've been to Dumont Burger on several occasions, and have always been a big fan of the food and the decor, but after a number of really bad delivery experiences I think I have to call it quits. The other night the order we placed took well over an hour (okay, we had been warned that it could take an hour, but still...why an hour for a couple of burgers?) and by the time the food arrived it was ICY cold. Which is not how I like my french fries. I think you know what I mean. When I called to complain, the response I got was ""Well, what do you expect? It's cold outside."" Seriously? How about not sending the poor delivery guy out walking with eight (count 'em, e-i-g-h-t) uninsulated orders on a night when it's 15 degrees outside. And the reply from the guy on the phone (or lack thereof) was lousy. Not a credit, not an offer to re-deliver...nothing. I can't believe that the chef or the owner would want to offer their normally delicious product under such crappy conditions. I can't patronize a place that doesn't value its customers. Pros: Good food...when it's warm Cons: Lousy attitude, bad delivery service, long waits at restaurant...basically only call for pick up! more

burgers are overpriced but great, HOWEVER, the wait is SO long that it is just NOT WORTH IT. i have been there 3 times, and have had to wait for a burger for an average of over 30 minutes - for a burger! and this is their specialty! last time, i was there, i was ready to jump into the kitchen and give the cook a hand flipping those burgers. there were only 5 other people at the restaurant when i walked in and i still had to wait (about 45 minutes this last time!). again, their burgers are great - superb, i would say - but definitely NOT worth the excruciating wait. $10 and 45 minutes later, and you somehow feel like you've been robbed. the place seems to be riding the coattails of bedford avenue cool. i, for one, will never go in there again. Great burger - particularly like the mini; delicious mac and cheese (too big a portion); good Boston Bibb salad and a very solid apple crumble. Bottom line: the menu is simple, the place is tiny (maybe seats 40 on stools?), the folks are friendly and the owners know what they are doing. Enjoy this spot. more

this is the best burger around....my friends and i love this place....i have been several times and it never disapoints. i've also ordered take-out and its just as good at home. the mac n cheese is amazing too (how could it be bad, theres bacon in it). good beers on tap too.
