Dr. Barroga, Pain Management Clinic

To those posting against cl 2 prescriptions, you either are not in pain or are ok with pain mgt docs and clinics peddling endless injections or surgeries. I have been through a series of injections to kill nerves around my bad disc and they only worked so far, in NJ, I was advised by 5 docs to steer away from surgeries because of my age, 55, those surgeries, like many others can do more harm then good. For the injections, I had to be put under anesthesia, asleep and they are very expensive for me on medicare, it took 21/2 years to pay them off......I found one doc in Jersey, Dr. James Paolino who will prescribe pain meds as needed without an inqusition or trying to peddle injections or surgeries. Dr. Paolino is a senior doc, consultant at Robert Wood Johnson Hospitla and has an office in Millburn, NJ, been in Texas now for two months, have seen 5 pain mgt docs, all swear by injections and surgery. I have BEEN that route and want no more of it. These docs are more concerned with state policies then with the well being of patients. My pain meds allow mw to work part time while on disability and may pave the way to return to full time, without them I am going to have to file for food stamps and section 8. By all means, go after those abusing pain meds, but docs need to step back and take a look at their treatment options, they are peddling injections and surgeries like those who used to sell snake oil !. The injections, several rounds of them keep my legs from going completely out now, it fixed that, but that was all that it accomplished, I have about the same pain except that I can stand up with it rather then hitting the floor. more

First of all to the person who wrote ruin your life with ease, you are not telling the truth. I had to get my records and a lot of things about myself together in order to see this very caring physician. Secondly, if you went there as an addict, then you totally took advantage of what this man is trying to do. Also, none of the medications you listed react against one another. To everyone else, I thank you for your reviews because they led me to see Dr. Barroga and while he may not spend that much time with a patient, he spends a sufficient amount. He asks the pertinent questions and gets to the point. You are not going to be able to continue seeing him if you are some sort of drug seeking addict. I had been treated for 16 years and for 6 of those years by an uncaring doctor who decided he no longer wanted me when I was able to get insurance and no longer paid him cash. Dr. Barroga took me in and I had searched for over 6 months for someone to help me regain my life. I was about to lose my job and this beautiful person saved me from certain doom. I thank God for doctors like him, and I truly wish there were more like him. I'm going to say what so many others have said, if you have searched and searched for a pain doctor, look no further. This is the right doctor. If you have prayed for the right doctor, thank God because he has led you to the right doctor at last. He restored my faith in that there are still some doctors out there who care. He gave me life back!! This is a great and caring doctor. more

I have had severe back and leg pain for 18 years since the birth of my daughter and Dr. Barroga is the only caring, sincere hearted Dr. that I have ever came across. NOT everyone is looking for MEDS, he only prescribes to those who really need it, if you don't want to get relief from your pain, then just go to your G.P. cause that's all you need then. I am so sick of people thinking people in severe pain just want meds, you try living in it! I am sick of Dr.'s who won't help people in severe pain b/c of fear of the idiotic government nosing into people's personal lives. This Dr. is a sincerely wonderful man who only wants to help people in pain, he's NOT a God, what did you expect when you came to him, for him to perform some kind of miracle on you? He only writes what he thinks is right for your particular pain! and he does perform tests, examines you, etc... Thank GOD for Dr. Barroga, the ONLY Dr. I see! He listens and helps people. Excellent Dr. in all aspects of the medical field he is in. Bobby, Heidi and Crystal are all great too! Please don't believe any B.S. some people write on here, they're idiot's who should prob. just stick to G.P's or Chropracters! more

dr barroga has helped me enormously. I was in constant pain and was going to another doctor, if i would make a recommendation to the other doctor he would treat me very rude. The other doctor just thinks he knows everything and that if he gave a certain medication to someone else with a similar problem it should work for me. Then if I told him I did not like or it was not working he would just get mad. Dr Barroga will listen to me and make recommendations, he, at least, doesnt act like he knows it all and i have had great results. I can work full time now without getting head-aches and neck pain that was causing me grief. He is a pain management Dr. and a good one. more

I completely agree with the previous statement in saying that this doc is nothing but a turnstile for CII meds. When seeing the doctor, all that is required to get a new, or any med prescribed to you is simply to ask him for it. He never completed any kind of physical exam, nor did he ask me of any scans, x-rays, or images of any kind, nor did he inquire about prior diagnoses. This guy had zero knowledge of me - ZERO - and he gave me scripts (from the initial visit on out) for hydrocodone, methadone, xanax, adderall, soma, HCTZ, and oxycodone ... all at the same time ... all at ridiculous dosages, like 6 hydrocodones, 6 methadone, 3 bars, 3 somas, etc. ... all because I said I needed these meds for reasons I came to know from searching for a solution to chronic back pain for 12 years prior. Came across this guy because of a girl, also a patient of his, who recommended him to me, stating that this doc prescribes anything to anyone (within reason). I didn't believe her at first, but became one real quick after my intial visit with him. Again, no physical exam, no serious probing inquiries of any kind, no knowledge of me whatseoever, with exception to what I told him, and I was out the door with scripts for all the above meds. Yes, on my intial visit, I asked this doctor for the above meds for reasons for which they are prescribed, paid him his OV fee and cruised. You wouldn't believe how easily this cocktail of pharmaceuticals can blow up your life, though!!! I was chased by a freaking helicopter when I had a serious and profound reaction to the mixture of meds in my body. This makes sense, though, because the meds that this guy was prescribing me were set against each other, meaning that some would produce the opposite effects of others. Not that I had any decision in it, but my mind just lost it one night and I became a person I am not, though I was and still am an addict. This doc is an addict's wet dream, like the McMuffin of doctors for addicts of all kinds!!! Gotta say that the guy is very neat, and pleasant to be around. What a guy - not only is he nice, but he can prescribe you things in amounts that you never thought possible. If you are an addict still in that dream, go see this doctor. He will help you stay right there, like you're in a freeze frame. If you instead have a life and are pursuing things other than #20 for $100, please keep moving. Some people have posted polarizing statements about his staff being difficult with patients regarding money. This, too, makes complete sense, because think about it - his patient pool is mainly comprised of addicts, or soon to be, and an addict needs someone at the wheel for them because these drugs give you such a false sense of security, making your reality a complete oblivion to you. And this doctor prescribed all this medication to a person who knew he was an addict, and the doctor had to know. There was no hiding it, as it was eating up my enitre life. He had to know. He believed my BS and I suck at poker ... he had to know without a second glance because that's what his training had taught him to do. Instead of using his enriched training in medicine, this doctor seems to have mastered in the newly developed art of writing way too many scripts for people who whine too much, or for those who simply do not appreciate reality for what it is. Several years ago I had been searching for a Spine Dr. who worked on the entire body for pain management. Besides my weak spine after being in 3 car wrecks from the drivers who tail you so close on Hwy. 75 by inches, that is why there are accidents everyday. My nerves were losing their strength, I began falling flat on my face also, from 6 herniated discs, 1 that was supposed to have been fixed during an unnecessary surgery, but was botched instead. This surgery was done wrong but that Dr. insisted I needed it, when all I needed was some injections. After all the papers I filled out and dozens of physicians I tried to work with, I lost my job that I had worked my way up to after I finished my 4 year college at night, after work. I got the job but my back could not take the pain any longer and I kept falling, injuries coming all the time! THEN I FOUND HIM, DR. BARROGA (214) 369-7885. He is a Pain Management Doctor/Specialist. He truly cares about his patients and not just the money. He's professional, always treats me, his patient, with respect and asks about my pain and if I am doing better, the same or worse. He truly cares about helping those of us who have chronic pain. HE DOES NERVE STUDIES and injections as needed. My pain is SO much better now Thanks to Dr. Barroga, I am so pleased with him, I wanted to write this review and let everyone know their search is over, call him at (214) 369 - 7885. ALSO, I HAD NEVER HAD A PROBLEM WITH HEIDI OR ANY OF HIS OFFICE STAFF. THEY ALL HAVE BEEN EXCEPTIONALLY NICE and PROFESSIONAL WITH ME. The person who complained probably forgot that they are human too. Maybe they had their refrigerator water line burst and they came home for a rest, after taking my spouse to the hospital to have the first CANCER REMOVAL SURGERY AND REVIEW WHILE THEY ARE DOING THE SURGERY. They have lives too! They might have pain also. Or so many other problems. So, if you want someone to help you with your pain whatever it may be, call him. you won;t regret it. I am a patient of Dr. Barroga,\r \r It is true about the time he spends with you, but really what else is there to talk about? He is not a Family Physician he is a pain mgmt Dr. He is very nice one of the few Doctors left that care that you are in pain! If you have questions he will answer them, he just doesnt initiate conversation or waste my time with meaningless conversation & I like that! The only reason he didnt get 5 stars is because of Heidi, the lady that works at the front window. She is very rude & deameaning, and she talks very loud & so much you would think she is on drugs! You can hear her complaining about you or another patient when you are in waiting room. We were all shocked when we all heard her two weeks ago. And, if you dont have the $500 that day when you didnt even knew you owed it, she will say that ""the doctor doesnt see patients for free & that it is a business & that it is not her problem if you dont have all the $)""How rude is that! She is very bossy & arrogant, not a pleasant lady at all! \r Anyway, just love the Dr! more

I have seen Dr. Barroga since he started his private practice. He has changed so much in the last 3+ years. I can't believe how he treats his patients, for example, I once thought I might have strep throat and he stood 2 feet from me and told me to say ah, no instrument, no contact just said no when he could not even see down my throat. Another example of his treatment is to use his religious beliefs as reasons for doing or not doing things based on praying to Jesus for an answer. The reason the subject is titled never a long wait is because he never spends more than 3-5 minutes with you. Dr. Barroga starts writing your prescription as soon as he enters the exam room. His office is like a cattle cow operation, it is about seeing as many patients as he can. Dr. Barroga is popular because he is a script writer and obviously word has spread because he is very busy. I believe that is why he is presently be audited. If you want pain medicine he is the Doctor to see but don't expect him to talk with you for more than a few minutes. Pros: never a long wait time Cons: spends less than 5 min. with you more

It has taken me over 8 years to find a physician that truly listens, cares and is determined to improve your quality of life. more
