Best

Not always quick but always friendly proffessional and competent. Keep them in your address book for sure. I have always been diagnosed properly. Highly recommended

Very Convenient 6/9/2011

Good basic urgent care You can get an appointment on the same day, they will also see walk ins. Open at weekends more

Very Convenient 5/11/2009

It is impossible to get an appoint with most doctors on short notice (like less than 2 weeks). These guys see you day of and can refer you to any specialist usually within a week if not the next day. Can't beat that with a stick. Pros: Easy to see a primary care doctor when you are sick. Cons: Consistency can be an issue. more

All-around Awful 2/18/2009

I have had nothing but extremely negative encounters with the staff, the nurses, the doctor (I saw Dr. Rice), and now the customer service reps in billing at D.O.C.S. The staff is rude. The facilities are not clean. I waited almost an hour for both of my appointments there. I had to call multiple times a day---I was repeatedly put on hold and eventually transferred to some 'nurse's station' phone that rang endlessly---to get a necessary prescription refilled. When I called to inquire about my (abnormal) test results the nurse was dismissive, and then the doctor was rude, curt, and couldn't even be bothered to pull my file while talking to me about them. She up-billed my insurance for services not actually rendered, the charges for which---because I don?t have good insurance---were passed along to me. For example, she billed almost $200 for a 'psychotherapy' session, which was actually me spending two minutes in her office getting an expired prescription rewritten. When I called the billing department to sort out all of the charges, one representative was thoroughly unhelpful (telling me the exact opposite of what his colleague told me a month earlier), condescending, and rude. He eventually said, ?Call your insurance company!? and hung up on me. If you want personal, respectful, competent care, you certainly will not find it here. more

don't bother... 9/2/2008

...unless you are merely looking for an antibiotic for the common cold or something 'basic'. I found this place to be the worst, the admin is rude and don't know their a@@ from their elbow! Granted you see someone fairly quick, but forget it if you need to follow up or receive any further treatment, very hard to even get in touch with anyone. Pros: short wait time Cons: rude and incompetent staff more

Great Urgent Care Facility 8/28/2008

I recently came down with a clogged ear that was becoming infected. I called my primary care physician and was told I would have to wait 2 months to get an appointment. I did a Google search and found out about DOCs. I arrived at the office at 10:50 AM and was out the door at 11:30 AM. The waiting room is clean, as are the exam rooms. The most time-consuming part of the appointment was completing the paperwork. I was immediately seen and treated by a physician. Pros: Accepts most insurance with no co-pays, promptness Cons: None! more

Best Healthcare in the City 8/15/2008

I've been going to DOCS on 34th for more than 10 years; my PCP is on staff there. With the exception of flu season, it seldom takes more than 20 minutes to see a doctor. This means I can drop in any time (no appointment) and be out in less time than it takes a doctor to actually make their appointment. All of the doctors and staff are professional and personable. There is none of the ""15 minutes a patient"" conveyor-belt methods you would expect of such a place; all of the physicians listen and take the time to explain the diagnosis, their treatment, and follow-up recommendations. The only downside is that it's difficult to get anyone on the phone, but this is an industry-wide problem. Pros: Great doctors, unbelievably easy access Cons: Phone calls not recommended more

Easy Professional Health Care in a City with Few Health Options 7/28/2008

I woke up this morning with a terrible sore throat. In NY, it seems like you can call your doctor and wait 2 weeks for an appointment, or go to the ER and wait all day to see some overtired intern. A co-worker told me about this place (she called it docs), so I decided to check it out. I was there for about an hour total. The doctor was professional and very nice. Everything was easy, my insurance was accepted as an office visit, making my co-pay $15 instead of $50 for the ER. I got a prescription and was on my way. Pros: walk-in, good care Cons: I didn't find any more

If you looking for quick and good service then go to this doctor. 7/8/2008

I will definitely reccommend DOCS. The number one reason is because of the service. The you can do a walk appointment or come the next day to see a doctor. Most other Doctors location you need at least 3 weeks just for an appointment which is ridiculous. The service is pretty good, and prompt. more

No recommendation here for this doctor 6/28/2008

I took one of our student's to Doc's from our 6 week project. We have college age students here in NYC from all over the country. Because I am one of the Director's I took this particular student. She asked if I would come in with her because she was a nervous to see a doctor in general and one away from home. After we waited 3 hours and finally got called in I was told by the male nurse only one person could go in, that the room was too small. I responded by saying that she, the patient, would like someone with her and asked me to come. He insisted and then took her. She was panicked. I stood there for a couple minutes thinking about what to do when i saw another patient called and they took someone in with them. At that point I thought this is ridiculous and went to the door where he took the student and knocked on the door. He did not answer and so i waited and knocked again. He finally opened the door and I said to him that I did not feel comfortable with this situation and I was coming in because the young student wanted me there. We waited another 20 minutes after that for the doctor. When the doctor arrived he came into the room and didn't even introduce himself. I proceeded to tell him about the initial treatment. His response was a lecture telling us why he does not like another person in the room with the patient. I was blown away that this doctor would treat me in such a manner. He explained that the other person in the room often speaks for the patient and he is not able to do his job. Then he proceeded to say, ""She is an adult, she is 20, who are you?"". I told him she was here on a 6 week project in the city, I was one of the director's/guardians, and she asked me to come in with her. i told him I understood that some people can get in the way of him doing his job but that it really should be up to the patient to decide. He promptly told me that it was not the patients decision it was his because he was the doctor, Doctor John Chuey. Pros: immediate care in the sense that you don't have to set up an appointment Cons: waiting time and doctors manners more

Doctors unable to give injections, and nurses not available to do so 6/28/2008

I called on a Saturday morning to see if they had tetanus shots available, my nephew had been bitten by my dog, a tiny puncture wound (Chihuahua) but I wanted it looked at, antibiotics prescribed if necessary and I thought a tetanus shot was advisable. \r \r I was told that all shots were given by nurses, and nurses are not available on weekends. I was stunned and hung up. \r \r Then I thought: ""wait, I want my nephew to be seen by a doctor because he will need antibiotics, too, so the doctor can give the tetanus injection, right?"" \r \r I called back and was told again that ONLY nurses can give the injection, the doctor(s) cannot give the injections.\r \r Did they leave injections out of the medical training for these physicians? Is that too much ""doctoring?"" Too ""hands on?"" Is this a union thing?!?\r \r I was told to go to the ER. I asked what would happen if someone walked in and needed an injection and no nurse was available but a physician was? The staff person told me they would call an ambulance.\r \r That is a very wacky answer!\r \r I have in the past used this place as my primary care, now only to avoid the long wait at ERs. After this encounter ... I'm considering nursing school! more

Highly Recommended for New York! 1/23/2008

I would highly recommend Doc's @ E34th St! My husand and I were very sick, we both arrived at 3:30 and were back at home by 4:30! We each had different doctors and both were very nice and informative. \r If you live in Manhattan and need a doctor asap, go here. Its impossible to get a doctor's appt in this city and the ER will take forever. Pros: Walk-in more

Billing department headaches 4/10/2007

Never mind that the doctor I saw spent about five minutes with me and was completely unhelpful. The thing that really nailed my experience was the nonsense about my co-pay. \r \r When you pay your co-pay in cash, keep the receipt. You will need it because they will bill you and if you can't produce the receipt they will expect you to pay again. \r \r They will not help you in any way to determine whether or not you really did pay (like maybe check their receipt book). It is completely your responsibility to prove you paid and they take no responsibility to demonstrate that you did not. \r \r If you phone them you will wait a very long time. If you write to them they will not reply. You just keep getting bills in the mail, threatening to put you on their delinquent list (oooohhh!!). Silly me, I even thought I could track down their receipt book myself by phoning the DOCS office - billing questions go straight back to the same number as before.\r \r The one time I was patient enough to wait long enough to get a human on the phone, she was pretty nice to me. She couldn't help much but she was nice. Apparently my predicament is very common - happens all the time (and probably explains why the phones are so clogged!). Her advice: ALWAYS make sure they note it on your account at the front desk when you give them cash, and keep your receipt!\r \r Why in the world would anyone go to this place more than once? Cons: headaches more

Do yourself a favor, go somewhere else! 3/1/2007

The staff is horrible! They are rude and abrupt. I saw the doctor for literally 5 minutes after waiting over an hour (and I had an appointment). He did not answer my questions and rushed off before I could finish my sentence. 2 of my friends went there and told me that the doctors they saw were just as bad. You might be better off going to the ER. You might wait longer, but at least your questions are answered. Cons: the front staff, the doctors, the waiting time more

so so 2/21/2007

I needed a doctor and this is right near my job. I see the gastroenterologist, and I have to usually call there about 3 times in order for someone to pick up the phone in order to make an appointment. Its ridiculous-you can loop around in the automated phone system for hours if you let it. And never leave a message. However, Dr. Obadia is awesome and well recommended. The nurses are nice. But the front desk personnel at the main front desk can be some rude hellions. more

Advice: If making an appointment is a nightmare, then don't - These people need Customer Service Training 1/23/2007

My regular doctor from another part of town is excellent, and he recommended these folks for some additional tests. After 5 times trying to set up an appointment, I told my doctor's office that I needed alternatives and they should take these people out of their referral list. I am a patient and understanding person, but their quality of service and disregard for customer service was not acceptable.\r \r Recommendation: Go somewhere else, and if they have bad service upfront when you are trying to set up an appointment - take it as a signal that the rest of the experience will be worst. more

excellent care 10/30/2006

I recently had surgery that required daily office visits, and the people at DOCS have taken excellent care of me. Everyone--the nurses, the doctors, the staff--have been absolutely terrific. I couldn't ask for better treatment. more

That sucked 5/31/2006

I had my yearly check-up two weeks ago and was told that I had to come back for the results, specifically of the HIV test, as they can't give that except in person. I have just spent the last hour waiting in a waiting room with sub-par (if any) air conditioning and a broken water fountain, with maybe - maybe - six people ahead of me when I arrived. No communication, no nothing. I could have done the test myself in that time. I'm appalled at the service. Pros: doctors, bedside manner Cons: office staff, wait time, air conditioning more

Worth the wait... sometimes 10/31/2005

I'm new to NYC and have unfortunately had to visit DOCS 6 times in the last two months. The wait can be awful, but when you're in pain, it's comforting to know that you'll at least be seen within a few hours, rather than days. My doctor actually knows me by name now, and is quite friendly. The front office staff can sometimes be abrasive and harsh though. Pros: Same day service Cons: long wait, front office staff more

better than expected 8/15/2005

Recommended for a quick visit without an appointment - if you arrive early Thought i'd be in for a long wait, but I arrived at 8:45am with no appointment, saw a doctor in 15min. more
