Diesel Pizza & Pub

On Sunday a group of 12 of us met at Deisel for lunch. I went to the bar for a drink and was stopped by my waitress who stated they did not have a bartender and that I had to order through her. What is the point of having a bar?? I came to find out that the ""manager"" was also the bartender and he had left for the day. It was about 2:00 PM...\r \r I sat down with my girlfriend and the others and waited about 10 minutes before we all were able to order drinks. About 10 minutes later everyone was served drinks except me. The waitress then said did everyone get a drink?.....\r \r I finally got the one beer I had the whole time I was there and we ordered Panini sandwiches. My girlfriend ordered a double liquor drink after one of our group complained of the drinks being very ""weak. Deisel charges 100% of the drink price if you ask for a double.... Oh, and the waitresses are making the drinks... No Manager, No bartender....\r \r Half our table received their food (pizza), and had finished before we received our ""panini"" sandwiches. The meat was cold the bread was dry and cheese was not melted at all.\r \r I had one beer and one sandwich. My girlfriend had 2 drinks and one sandwich. Our tab was $76.00.\r \r The Menu has a very small print on the back stating ""MANDATORY"" GRATUITY OF 20 % FOR PARTIES OVER SIX. First, ""mandatory gratuities is illegal"". Unfortunately local police probably don't know that so you can get arrested. I was threatened with arrest by the waitress and the manager (Mike) (over the waitresses cellphone) if I did not pay the gratuity. The waitress also stated that the restaurant would deduct her pay if she did not collect the entire mandatory 20%.\r \r In the end the manager knocked off 20% of the food but still wanted 20% gratuity. Not wanting to go to jail I paid it.\r \r This restaurant has gone down hill since opening a few years ago.\r The service is Horrible the food needs help and they run the restaurant without management. The servers have attitudes and I guess they can when they don't have to earn their tips.\r \r Obviously the mandatory gratuity was put in place because of insufficient tipping. I would suggest the owner Tara Cameron rethink the illegal notice on her menu. Also consider bringing in responsible management and train your wait staff so that their tips reflect the level of customer service expected in Roswell Georgia. \r \r The demographics for Roswell reflect an above average income level for the people who visit this area for food and drink.\r \r The money is there but you need to EARN it!!!! more

Never got served. Heard that the pizza was good, but never got to try it. Plenty of empty tables inside and what appeared to be plenty of staff, but we were never served. Got our menus dropped at us and that was it. Sat for 15 minutes while multiple staff members just walked right by us, cleaned the already empty tables next to us while we just sat there. No one asked if we had been helped, no one said someone would be right with us. Apparently we either weren't cool enough or they just don't care. Then, when we tried to leave our car was blocked in because the parking is almost as bad as the staff. There was one person who was responsible, a cook in the back., He's the good one there and wish I knew his name. I'll be sure to tell everyone I know not to go there. Thanks Diesel. If I could give a zero, then I would. Left and went to Spiced Right BBQ down the street, which is always a hit. I never write reviews of places but Diesel was just so blatantly bad that I had too. more

we went here last year 2010 and it was decent. Went once in October of 2011 and again to give it another chance the other day, and it was the worst food. Ordered slice of pizza and it was heated up worse than I could do in my microwave. Everything else we had was awful also, and they don't seem to care less. Don't waste your money! more

I had avoided this place because if the initial bad reviews until last night, but how bad could it be for an early dinner in a Monday night? BAD! more

7 people out for pizza and drinks...... Over an hour to get our food but we could deal with that if we could have more than one drink! No service at all! parking was a pain! Food was ok but nothing special. We would have done better to drive down to Fellinis and have great pizza and service and for less money. If you want to sit and watch cars drive by with no food or drink THIS IS YOUR PLACE! more

First time to try this restaurant on Sunday. We were totally ignored by 3 waitresses. No one would make eye contact. Stood there over 5 minutes with no acknowledgement at all. Another couple came in and a waitress finally said ""You can sit anywhere"" in a less than friendly tone. We sat at an outside table just vacated. No one EVER bussed our table - just left the dirty dishes sitting there the entire time. The food was actually very good, but the horrible service overshadows it. Will never go there again. Too bad - great area, love the ability to sit outside. more

I've been there a few times and had a fun every time. I found the staff and the ownership to be very friendly - like you're eating over at their house. The drinks came quickly for me (maybe too quickly) and the pizza is pretty good. Love the fact that I can walk there. Love the big garage doors. I don't get all the bad reviews. Weird. Perhaps what I ordered made my experience worse than others. I ordered the Sausage and Peppers Sub, It had raw onions and raw peppers and the sausage was not tasty...If you have to eat there go for the pizza, which seemed better at least. Cons: Food was not good more

I'm 27 year Roswell veteran. I have to say that the ownership of Diesel is wasting a really great space. Tried the ""restaurant"" during slow lunch hours during the week. The waitstaff acted highly uninterested in waiting tables. Drinks didn't get there on time and pizza took forever. Flavor was a notch above cardboard. Not even on par with the many local chain pizza offerings around Atlanta. Not even on par with the flavor of a good grocery store pizza(not kidding). Had to then flag someone down for a check after 20 minutes of no refills and no service. Whomever was in charge of hiring must be blind or dumb. These are the kind of run down women that one expects at a dive bar, but they are just too depressing and incompetent to be given a job in a restaurant serving food in the daytime. The pizza is smaller than most and quite bland. I don't know when the owner came to Roswell, but he or she should make like a tree and leaf. Not a worthy addition to the neighborhood. Pros: It looks ok from the outside. Cons: It hasn't burned down yet more

We live here in historic Roswell and so wanted to enjoy this place since we can walk to it. We have tried three times to eat here and all three have been horrible. The food we had this weekend was so gross we both had upset stomachs after. Bad service, they obviously don't care about their customers. Wish it would have been better, but there are far to many other great places to choose from here. Pros: cool atmosphere Cons: bad food, bad service more

I had their white pizza and there was far too much prosciutto. I drank maybe 3 pints of water in a sitting because it was so salty. Cons: Salty and unappealing pizza more

Diesel has a delicious lineup of salads, sandwiches, and pizzas (my favorite!). I've been on Friday night twice, and there has been live music and lots and lots of people eating outside. Recommend! Pros: Great location, cool building, great yummy pizza more

Diesel is a great little restaurant that my husband and I always choose whenever we can get a babysitter for the little ones. Their greek salad is absolutely amazing, and we've tried several of their very tasty pizzas. There's a nice little bar with tvs for my husband to watch sports and plenty of fun outdoor seating. Best of all, the place is so friendly and fun that there are many families eating there whenever we come out. Highly Recommend! Pros: Best pizza place in Roswell more

I've been getting pizza from diesel every other week, the selection of heal conscious pizza is great (though I prefer fatty no healthy food) When they are busy, you need to give yourself enough time, since they are not all that fast, but the quality of the food is well worth the wait. So, I have been ordering as a to go pizza, it's usually ready in 15-20 minutes. One of my favorite pizza is there 4 cheese pizza (Brie, Goat cheese, parmissan, mozzarella) but have been asking them not to sprinkle oregano, since I like to enjoy the flavor of the cheese. Carb Loading appetizer is fun, 3 tasty olive oil flavors served with lot's of bread. Pros: Just around the corner Cons: service a bit slow when busy more

after ordering food and drinks one drink made it to the table and after a 30 minute wait there was no appetizer brought out that was ordered or the other drink this is by far the worst service I have ever encountered I will never return Cons: waitress was useless more

This is the only place I go for pizza! The atmosphere and staff make it a place worth trying! The salads are huge and the pizza crust is just right more

Lousy service. The only good service they know how to give is lip service. Called to verify they were open, packed up family and drove there only to find them closing. Owner was rude and obnoxious and didn't care (I believe he trains the wait staff). A real contrast to the kissing he did when we were in the restaurant previously. Our experience was burnt pizza or soggy pizza. Kind of pricey for the food quality. We will not go back. more

My husband I have found ""our"" pizza joint, after many years of searching. What a neat little pub, close by in Roswell. The pizza crust is thin and delicious - not tasteless like some pizzas with large crust. The ingredients are very fresh - cheese, meats, vegetables and herbs. We've had three different pizzas and all were delicious. Good selection of beers and wines. Service has been very good whether we eat in or take out. This is the pizza you think about a day or so afterwards because it was so good. Our friends want to come to our house so we can eat Diesel Pizza. Delighted to have you in the Roswell area. Pizza not bad and salads good. Service is really bad. Finally had to flag over a different waiter. Most of the waiters were in the main room talking, even though it was Friday nite. Not a comfortable environment. Pros: Piaaza ok Cons: service stinks more

I have never bothered to write a restaurant, good or bad, but my experience was so bad I thought I should share to help other people avoid this place. I went with my two kids for lunch on a weekday. We got there at 11:30 and there were only 2 or 3 other tables full. A rude server came and asked my drink order, although she never brought it. I had to flag down another server to take my order. She actually brought my drinks but that was it. We ordered two slices of pizza, an easy order I would think. 30 minutes later, sitting with my empty drink and a hungry child I noticed that food was being delivered to people that came in after me. I again flagged my server and asked her about it, she pretended that it was the kitchen that messed it up and went off to check. She came back, about 10 minutes later and asked what I had ordered. I gave her my order again and she went to put it in. Another ten minutes later she came by to tell me my order was almost ready (2 pieces of pizza!). Finally an hour after after we arrived our food came. Both slices had the wrong toppings and had so much cheese that we could not even pick them up. And the slices of fruit that are described with the kids meal is actually nearly frozen canned sugar fruit. We had to ask for our check and when presented, we got $1 off our $15 order for the inconvenience. Thanks! I would never return to this place and would suggest that you not go here with kids, unless you have the type that can wait an hour to eat. Cons: Parking, service, food more
