The best vegetarian chili... 1/6/2008

Deuce has the best vegetarian chili I have EVER had. I'm addicted. Go try it, you won't be sorry. Great atmosphere too and excellent wine list. Typing this makes me want to go there right now. Are they open at 7:30am?? Pros: Great wine, the best veggie chili ever, very cozy Cons: the chili isn't served by the gallon more

Last visit dissapointing... 9/19/2007

I hope to not bash your kitchen?s cooking, but I was very displeased with the food I received yesterday at lunch. A few colleagues and I went to Deuce (my 3rd time and previously was happy), but after tasting the $16 Deuce Burger (was it even Kobe beef?), I would probably not have one again. The Cheesesteak spring rolls were amazing as always, but the burger was extremely disappointing, especially at that price and for being on the lunch menu. I?ll probably be back, but I?ll always question the Kobe burger being actually Kobe. Pros: Great Food Sometimes Cons: Bad Food Sometimes more

New chef, new menu, new attitude! 7/17/2007

My friends and I went to Deuce last night and it rocked! Even when it was between chefs it was still pretty good. But the new chef and GM have really energized the place. Servers were friendly and fast, the outdoor seating was perfect for this weather, and the new items on the menu were all excellent. The chicken tamales and the cheese steak spring rolls were a nice start, and the chicken souvlaki in pita made for a great sandwich. I highly recommend the pan-seared sirloin with shrimp hash and a fried egg on top...I haven't seen that anywhere else. And there are new versions of their Kobe burgers as well. Our server Aaron was terrific--knowledgeable and funny, too! Pros: Easy parking, wonderful outdoor seating on Liberties Walk and on 2nd Street Cons: Still a transitional neighborhood more

Once bitten, twice shy. 6/24/2007

Hip restaurant. We've been here several times within the year but our recent trip was dissappointing especially since we we're bringing friends with us to try it out. My fiance's steak frites was ordered medium but came out well done- hate when that happens! We were a party of six, my cousins Deuce Burger was the very last to come out and I was already finished with my meal...I felt rude about eating before him but he waited at least 30 mins... he also ordered his burger medium and it also came out well done. I ordered the special that night which was the tuna, I ordered it rare but it came out medium! I can't believe they overcooked the tuna! We all agreed that the best place to get a hamburger is still at Ted's Montana Grill. It will be a longtime before we bring friends back here. Pros: outdoor dining, the walk, the ambiance Cons: can't cook a steak right, all the meals didn't come out together more

Best empanadas!! 4/27/2007

great food, nice bar, far but worth it if you're in the car and want good food for normal prices [finally!]. Pros: food is creative and tasty! Cons: location, but there's always parking more

Good Food but..... 2/3/2007

My friend and I went to Deuce and had dinner there. Each of us got the same thing which was the striped bass on top of sticky rice. It was really good and very cheap. The decor and atmosphere were also nice. It is kind of a burger join/bar but this one also serves fancy meals. The only 3 things that I think were the downsides are the wait, the unattentive service and the smoky smell from the kitchen. The wait was very long considering both of us ordered the same thing. We waited an hour from the time that the waitress took our order until they actually came out. I am not sure if it is intentional or not. The reason I'm saying that is because I know there are other restaurants out there that do this. But at least, those restaurants actually give you something complementary to eat while you wait. Our waitress was not attentive enough. She did not even ask us during our meal whether we needed anything. I mean, we were dying of thirst. We had to call her up and asked for drinks. Lastly, I didn't realize until I got home when my clothes and my jacket smelled like burger, literally. I know it's from Deuce because it was the only place we went to that night. The last one is probably very minor but it's just not a nice feeling when you dress up and have dinner and when you go home you smell like somebody who just got out of a BBQ restaurant out in Memphis. Pros: Price, Food Cons: Service, Long wait for the food to come out more

This place is ok. 12/28/2006

Duece is ok. I keep expecting to really like it, but something about it doesn't quite add up. The service is fine. The food can be good, although it is a bit off or on. The place has a decent vibe, but something ruins it. Maybe it's the crowd that hangs out there. It's a bunch of frat guys who think they're hip. Drinking $1 and being really annoying. If you go try it at off peak hours. That might help. Pros: Prices Cons: Crowd, LOUD!!! more

Chanelling Continental 11/12/2006

This hipster hangout is channelling Continental from the cocktail menu to decor. The food they serve up is as fresh as can be though. The cheesesteak spring rolls are a must. And my boyfriend claims the BLT is bacon, lettuce and terrific. The simple American comfort food is sure to please. Also, the outdoor seating with heatlamps are a great destination for smokers. Pros: Roomy, Good Classic Food Cons: Trite, Not centrally located more

Great Customer Service! 9/5/2006

After eating dinner at Bar Ferdinand where they were going to charge us 4 bucks a person (28 dollars) to eat the birthday cake we brough in for a friend's bday , we went next door to Deuce. What an awesome place and what awesome service. They made us some fresh coffee, let us sit in the back to eat the dessert we brought, and the owner (a very cool cat) bought us a round of shots to celebrate our friend's bday. Great atmosphere, great service, and a warm and friendly place! What a difference from the place next door! Thanks for taking care of us! Although Bar Ferdinand lost 7 customers, you guys gained 7! Pros: customer service, cool looking restaurant, very easy going people Cons: n/a more

Always a great time 8/30/2006

Deuce has the most comfortable chairs I have ever sat in. Go check them out. Great deals ($1 lager draft from 5 to 7 and 1/2 off draft beer from 10-12), great food (go with the three-cheese grilled cheese), amazing service. I live in center city and travel there weekly! Pros: Comfort, service, specials Cons: Slightly pricey for some items more

Great place!! 5/16/2006

Innovative menu, reasonable prices, great service...what more could you ask for? Oh, the cool vibe? Okay, done. Really relaxing place that I really enjoy for after work drinks ($1 Lagers 4-7 pm) or a later dinner. Pros: Food, Service, Price more

Deuce Restaurant & Bar 12/3/2005

Delicious and affordable 10/4/2005

The food was delicious (try the cheese steak spring rolls) and affordable (a steak cost $11), the service was quick and friendly, the drink menu was innovative, and the atmosphere was chill and relaxing. i will be back... again and again. Pros: inexpensive, good food, friendly service more

Amazing Beef Bar 9/20/2005

Yep, that's right...beef bar. We had the Kobe beef burger and steak. Both were phenomenal. The burger was tender, juicy, and full of flavor. Same for the steak which was coated in a slightly spicy rub. the potatoes were mouthwatering to boot. Beer selection was hom hum though and the decor was par for the course in northern liberties. I'd eat here again and again and again though. Pros: Food more
