Editorial review from Citysearch 12/27/2012

My daughter and I recently had the most amazing experience at this store. Her first wedding dress was ordered at a local salon. After waiting 6 months we took to a seamstress to alter neckline and change the design some.  (note: don't ever try to redesign a dress!) The dress, with each fitting, became a disaster.   One week before her bridal portrait , we walked into David's Bridal to look for a lace jacket, sleeves, or something to try to fix the problem. Sarah, the manager, met us at the door and was so sweet as we explained our dilemma. We looked over and saw a dress they had just received and I told my daughter she should try it on. Molly, the sales associate, was awesome in dealing with us and our emotions at the thought of buying a SECOND wedding dress! The entire staff made our experience an event.  The alteration department managed by Leslie,  is the best anywhere! Every detail was discussed with Sefika and Dutch. Kim, Juan, and Lai then did the magic in record time. EVERYONE was so professional from the front door to the alteration fittings plus they made us feel so special.  After her engagement, we actually had an appointment in New York City at Vera Wang's Bridal House.  We know the customer service provided to us at David's Bridal could not have been topped even at  Vera Wang's flagship store. Thanks to you all ! more

Trying to Ruin My Sister's Wedding 3/15/2011

This review is just for the David's Bridal listed above. There was an error in the ordering of my sister's bridesmaid dress and the management refused to claim blame for what was going on. The wedding was in 6 days and instead of trying to figure out what had happened and how to fix it they showed us a bunch of paper work with the wrong signatures and tried to say that we were at fault for what had happened. I understand something messing up and an error in the ordering but the fact that they absolutely refused to take blame for anything. Also after realizing what had gone wrong they had already tried to charge the maid of honor an additional $50, shipped the wrong order to San Antonio and charged us to overnight the correcting order from out of state, then after all this actually had the audacity to charge us a $1 for a fabric swatch. I would never use these people again. The low costs don't outweigh the horrible management you'll deal with when they screw something up. more

Edna- Best saleswoman at David's Bridal 8/8/2010

I had a fantastic experience on Saturday with a wonderful saleslady named Edna! I am a bridesmaid in a wedding next Saturday and needed to purchase a specific shrug for the wedding (it is a very traditional catholic church and the bridesmaids are required to wear the shrug so as to not expose our shoulders.) I, being stupid, waited las minute to pick up the shrug. Unfortunately, there were only two shrugs left in the country in the color and size I needed! Edna was a doll! She went above and beyond, pulling strings and calling every store in attempt to find me the shrug on time without draining my wallet in shipping fees. She went so far as to give me her personal cell phone number to call her if I had ANY problems! I highly recommend her and will certainly go back to her for my wedding! more

1 star out of 5 3/16/2010

Overall the store has potential and maybe it is just me but I felt the store was filthy, The walls looked as if they had not been painted in years, dirt marks everywhere. Inside the dressing rooms were a disgrace. The doors were supposed to be white but looked like they were gray with filth around all the door nobs. I was afraid to take off my shoes because the floor was so dirty. There were holes in the wall inside the rooms. There was chewing gum all over the floors and even on the walls. I got the feelings the store never got cleaned in 10 years. To top it all off my mother went into the rest room and nearly threw up. Needless to say we walked out. I did not get my dress there and I would not let my brides maids go there. It wojuld have been an embarassment to ask them to shop there. I can't understand why they just don't spend a few bucks and paint the place. It can't cost that much to paint maybe the cost of the few dresses myself and weddign party would have spent in the store. Pros: large selection at decent price Cons: Store was filthy more

Better than I expected 8/7/2009

After reading the reviews here on City search I didn't have very high expectations when I visited David's Bridal, however I did have several dresses I wanted to try on based on what I saw in the catalog online. I was actually very pleasantly surprised by the whole experience though! Pros: Great selections, nice service Cons: Alterations dept seemed expensive more

David's Bridal's Alts. Department are ran by non-seamstress' 1/19/2009

Each David's Bridal Alteration Department has a professional seamstress as head. Most of them really know their craft. But the alteration department is actually ran by the store managers. The store managers have degrees in retail managing. They know nothing and want to know nothing about their Alteration Department. The people doing the fitting and sewing are in a presser cooker and other associates add to the presser. The sales people over promise the brides then dump the problem on the Alteration Department. The floor managers need to control the flow of their store. That why your alteration was ruined. more

Pretty dresses, STAY AWAY FROM ALTERATIONS IF YOU WANT THEM TO STAY THAT WAY! 12/10/2008

Pretty dresses? Yes. Helpful consultants? Yes. Pros: pretty dresses if you can find your size, some consultants were very helpful Cons: alterations, limited sizes, big delays in shipping dresses more

good customer service 7/29/2008

It was a great experience..I'm sure it depends on who you get, but my consultant was amazing- she made me feel like I was the only customer she was going to see all day and I didn't feel rushed at all. If you go there, ask if Jenny can help you- she's great! more

Very helpful, but avoid on a saturday 3/15/2008

I have moved quite a bit and have been in several weddings, so I have been to several David's Bridal stores. The David's Bridal on Research Blvd in the Gateway Shopping center is the BEST David's I have been served by. They had a knowledgeable and helpful team of consultants that helped with getting dressed, carrying very heavy and cumbersome wedding gowns, and matching everything up. The sizes are weird, but once you get over being told you will be a size or two bigger than normal it's ok. My friend even got a call when her consultant noticed the bridesmaid tops she wanted were about to be unavailable so everyone was able to get them in time. Going back on a Saturday was crazy, but truth be told the consultant let us know it would be that way when we made the appointment. We just didn't believe her! She said they only work with two brides at a time, but we had 4 bridesmaids too and though she tried to help and was efficient, we missed the personal attention we got the first time there on a weekday. It seems the other reviews on here are pretty harsh because you can't compare David's Bridal (where you can often get a pretty gown for 99 bucks) to Belle Saison or Serendipity or those other places that give you champagne where they have less customers because your buying a 4 thousand dollar wedding gown. It's like any other retail store (which I have worked) but much busier. Even when we were upset about saturday being so busy, she apologized sincerely for the harried service and we left happy. I say bring your own bottle of champagne, buy some dixie cups and enjoy a friendly staff on a leisure WEEKNIGHT. Pros: hard working staff, good prices, knowledgable service Cons: saturday crowds, antiquated sizing, small dressing rooms more

Avoid if at all possible 9/25/2006

I have heard numerous horror stories about David's Bridal, but that's where my sister went for her dress and her bridesmaid's dresses. I went to get fitted and only woman there seemed to have her act together; the rest had little idea of what was going on. But worse than that, they were very gossipy, unprofessional, and display a complete inability to mind their own business... which caused a huge upset in my family when they decided to tell someone what someone else had been saying. It has been a very unpleasant experience. I'm just praying that the right dresses come in at the right time... and we will most likely take our alterations elsewhere. Cons: Unprofessional, incompetent, busybodies more

The Worst Place to Get a dress...EVER!!! 5/15/2006

I was shopping at the Brodie location. When i got in, the saleswomen were very pushy When I decided to buy the dress, ALL SALES ARE FINAL only they didnt have the dress in my color so i was paying for a dress I haven't even seen. The dress came back longer than the one in the store. I had to have alterations made but the prices the salespeople give you dont match the prices the alterations department The alterations manager is rude and when she was pinning my dress she pricked me repeatedly with the needles. You even have to pay for the alterations before they begin working on them. Dont shop here unless you want a less-than-mediocre dress, bad service, rude employees, bad management, and one large migrane! If you want your occasion to be a pleasant experience, I think any store would be better than David's Bridal. Pros: none, None, NONE!!! Cons: rude employees, not a good selection, unfair store policies more

Not a boutique... but not bad! 5/15/2006

David's Bridal KNOWS what they are doing. THey do a lot of business, and they are streamlined for it. Granted, I was there on a weekday, but my sales consultant was OUTSTANDING. In fact, when I couldn't decide between dresses, she looked at pictures and let me know that one that I liked from another store was actually better for me. It was a wonderful experience Pros: selection, service, value Cons: small rooms w/o mirro more

Bad service 1/8/2006

You can get a cheap dress there, but thats the only upside to going. I made an appt on a Saturday and when I showed up with family, they told me that there were people in front of me and I would have to wait. The selection wasn't that great. I gave them a piece of paper with three selections that I found online and they had no interest in finding those for me. The consultant that was assigned to me was rarely around. One of my employees told my two family members to get out of the way with little tact. You can't get a good view of yourself in the mirror because there just isn't room. The rooms are tiny. I asked where the $99 sale dresses were and she couldn't show me any. Bad first wedding dress experience. Pros: Inexpensive Cons: Crowded, Bad service, Little rooms more

Can you say RUDE!!! 11/7/2004

I must say, I have never been insulted more in my life! I went in to try to find a wedding dress after discovering my seamstress was in hospital, so I was a little upset entering. I was ready to explode leaving. After finding a dress that would work, I had a high pressure sales pitch that included trying to hit my neighbor up for a NON-refundable layaway deposit. Then that was followed up with the store managers insinuation that I had to ask my husband to be for permission to buy the dress in question. I went to Davids Bridal because they are supposed to have a good selection and nice service. I think this store failed in both. I hope they treat their family better than they treated me! Pros: Not, A, One Cons: , Pushy, RUDE more

pushy salespeople 5/20/2004

I had plenty of attention when I was there on a weekday. The Sales ladies helped me to pick dresses and helped me to get the dresses on. I liked how they fussed over me. Unfortunately, they were a bit pushy. They made me feel like I had to decide that day. I came back on a Saturday and did not get any individual help at all. They were so busy that day. They did have a large selection of dresses (styles and sizes) that were not terribly expensive. I suggest you go on a weekday and stand firm about not making an impulse purchase. They do take no for an answer! Oh, and be sure to ask how much alterations will be before you buy the dress. (all sales final) Pros: selection, weekday shopping, prices Cons: , cost of alterations, refund policy more

I Have Money to Spend 1/28/2004

When I go into a store like this it's clear that I have money to spend. I totally felt ""overlooked"" in this store by the consultants. No one helped me search, try on or attend to any of my needs UNTIL I was ready for check out. I do not recommend this store. They should never underestimate a customer. Maybe they thought I didn't speak English or I didn't have money to spend. For whatever the true reason, I felt their consultants were cold, impersonal and ready to take my money but not assist me with my needs. Even though I will be spending more, I decided to spend my money at Adelle's Bridal. At least the consultants have time to greet me, make me feel like a customer instead of treating me like I was a foreigner. Pros: descent selection Cons: , Over Crowded more
