Dana's Housekeeping

We just started using Dana's Houskeeping. We had our first service on 08/31/10. From the start, the company seems very nice and proffesional. I am a mother of 3 and my husband and I are both in the Army. I am away on training so I cannot be home to take care of our home, the way I like it. My husband does a fine job on his own but with three kids, and not use to the single Dad life, needs some major help. Dana's came to the rescue! I ordered their 8 hour service (4 hours with 2 house cleaners) to thoroughly clean most of the house. This includes young children's rooms that looked like a tornado touched down. They not only cleaned they came up with inovative ways to organize. AWSOME! They even put their cloths away. Oh my thank you so much. My poor husband thanks you also. We have since hired them to continue to help out my husband every 2 weeks, while I am gone. If the service continues as we have seen thus far, I will keep them even when I get home. I've been with Dana's for 5 years and understand them pretty well. Here's the bottom line: they have some really good housekeepers. My current housekeeper is able to clean our 4000 square foot home in 5 hours every two weeks. When I get home, it looks great! And, she never complains about handling rooms like theTV room which the kids can trash pretty thoroughly. She works fast, and never slows down during the time she is there. Definitely worth every penny. That said, when someone leaves and you need to get a new housekeeper, it can be hit/miss. Some of them aren't as fast, and that means you don't get as much cleaning in 5 hours (that's what I'm willing to pay for since I know 5 is enough for the good ones). Dana's always handles it well when I request a new person (I won't put up with a slower one). And, I have to wonder if this is just part of using a service - I've never found one that does it better than Dana's. Regarding the negative reviews below, I'm not sure they are fake. It's possible if you get a one-time cleaning that you're just not going to get one of their better housekeepers (like I said, it's hit or miss). I don't think Dana's puts their 'worst' people on one-time jobs either. So, my bottom line is if you want to get someone to come in on a regular basis, and you are willing to try a few housecleaners until you find the right one, Dana's is fine. Our new housekeeper showed up on time and was great with our dog and kids. I gave her a list of priorities and an extended list in case she got done early. She got everything on the list completed and my house was sparkling when she was done. She even had a few tricks up here sleeve to remove some stains I had on my carpet and in my bathroom. She deep cleans every other week and never slacks on the job. We highly recommend using Dana's Housekeeping, not only did they send us a great housekeeper but I know if I ever have a problem or need to change service it will be easy. more

As the chairman of Dana's, I'm concerned when we receive any negative reviews. We've been in business for over 20 years and keep detailed records of every client we've serviced, and every housekeeper who's ever provided a service to one of our clients. After a careful research of our records, there is no report from any client that remotely resembles the issues raised in the ratings posted below. In fact, had there been such a client they would have instead posted high accolades about how quickly and completely we voluntarily responded to their concerns, and solved the problems. Because that's what we do - we respond quickly in the rare instances when clients are unhappy. Thus, I can only conclude they were posted by competitors trying to harm us. . I would have rated with no stars but this site requires a star. I wish I wouldve read these previous reviews on this placeThey are spot on! I hired them to have 4 hours of cleaning. They give you a checklist to give to their cleaners but the cleaners are not aware of it. After having the conversation with the first cleaner about the oven needing cleaning, it was not cleaned, the bed sheets were put on wrong, none of the garbages were emptied, there was weird dirt on my chairs, the list can go on. I called the manager (Nancy) to complain and she said "oh well you know guys, they don't get it", so she sent the next one in who did a worse job. Our bed was thrown together, literally and in four hours, she cleaned one bathroom and the kitchen, THATS IT! I was called by Nancy telling me that my check to the first cleaner was in the mail, that was 1.5 weeks ago...still haven't received it. This is not a good company, there are great professionals out there that take pride in their work. Pros: none Cons: waste of my time to schedule someone and be gone from my house. I've given Dana's a few tries over the years, primarily since the first cleaner they sent over was amazing and stayed with us for a year until she decided to stop housecleaning. The cleaners we have had since then have all been really mediocre. Even when given specific instructions I haven't gotten the results I hoped for. Each time I took a break from service they have tried to recharge me a new customer charge as well -- how's that for maintaining a relationship. The cleaners have been pleasant and nothing was broken or stolen and they did show up on time but I felt it wasn't money well spent. And after all the chances I've given them and their cleaners I'm trying other options. Pros: Usually can get you in pretty quickly onto their schedule. Cons: Cleaners are inexperienced and don't necessarily follow instructions. more

I used Dana's one time and will never use them again. I requested their 8 hour cleaning. They clearly did not spend 8 hours cleaning. Every room was half cleaned, they didn't clean what I put on my list, left the stove racks and burner covers off, kitchen floor was covered in dirt, caused significant damage to an oak bench, stripped a spot on a dresser, and more. The company holds the cleaners responsible for any damage and still expect clients to pay in full even when damage is done. They hide behind the statement that their housekeepers are 'independent contractors'. Very shady company.
