Brunch Lacking 7/3/2008

I felt compelled to write this review it was the weirdest and worst dining experience I have ever had. We went for the new brunch theyve been advertising (we live close by) & decided to try it. First of all, we were the only people in there and 1 waitress working. The place was dark, a window was busted out and had plywood covering the windows, after finally being greeted after standing at the front for 10 mins. we sat down & placed our order. The ""bottomless"" mimosas are not bottomless you get 1 unless you pay a way higher price for bottomless option. Another couple walks in, places their order, receives it while we still havent gotten ours...waitress is no where to be found ( I swear she was probably cooking too!)...after about at least 45mins to an hour we FINALLY get our food. At this point we are already upset and our drinks havent been filled, for the waitress to tell us that they ran out of bananas for our crepes & went to the store to get them! WHO would leave a customer sitting for that long to eat instead of asking if we wanted an alternative first??!! To top it off the food was mediocre. Do not go here for brunch! I am not sure about the other reviews for dinner but my guess is this place wont be in business much longer. Completely empty and apparently for a reason, I had to warn other diners. Cons: Service, Overpriced more

Wonderful Experience! 4/25/2008

I went here alone for dinner and had the green and white fettucine, bread pudding, and a starter salad with pears and gorgonzola. It was delicious, especially the bread pudding, I would say it is the best I have ever had! I will definitely be back! Pros: great food! more

Outstanding food and service! 1/31/2008

This place is not to be missed. It's some of the best food and service in town. The polenta with truffle oil, sauteed shrimp and pumpkin ravioli will leave your taste buds speechless. Our waiter advised the perfect pairings of wine. He was an authentic Italian and a gracious host! Pros: service, polenta, pumpkin ravioli more

Fantastic Place - Great Food, Great Service, Great Night!!! 12/28/2007

I have driven by this place numerous times and decided to stop in recently with some friends. The place is beautiful on the inside and the staff was very courteous and nice. I ordered a dish I had never had scene anywhere else - The Pumpkin Ravioli. It was delicious! My friends pasta was also dynamite. The ambiance and the food were absolutely excellent. It is about time this neighborhood got a first class place. I have been back a couple times now and have always enjoyed the food as well as the friendly wait staff. I highly recommend everyone to give this place a try. You will not be disappointed. Pros: Ambience and the Food are top notch! more

Great Italian restaurant, friendly service 12/26/2007

We went there last week for the fisrt time. The place was pretty busy, it felt warm and welcoming right away. Pros: food, service more

Just like being in Italy again 12/23/2007

My husband & I discovered this little jewel through a friend and we love this cozy Italian restaurant. Our servers have been very attentive and helpful with any questions about the food. Their recommendation for the scampi and eggplant parmigiana had us in tastebud heaven! Another favorite of ours has been the risotto with radicchio & pancetta. This restaurant reminds us of being in Italy again; a very warm atmosphere, friendly people and great food. The wine selection was impressive too. We had a bottle of Alta Marca; it was a pleasant surprise to find a Spanish wine at an Italian restaurant. The prices are reasonable also and when we had a birthday celebration there recently, our family and friends were impressed too. The Palmer room in the back is also a great place to have a drink and listen to some good music with some friends. We always have an enjoyable evening when we visit this restaurant. Pros: The ambience was warm and cozy and service was timely Cons: Parking can occasionally be tough on a busy night more

HORRIBLY disappointing - Bad service, bad food, ridiculously overpriced 12/14/2007

I was really looking forward to trying a new restaurant in my neighborhood, especially one that had gotten such positive user reviews on Citysearch. My experience here, however, was awful on every level. more

Great Service, Great Food 8/16/2007

This place is fabulous! On a recent visit the server we had was amazing; drinks were always filled, bread was replenished (I think we went through three baskets), dishes were explained, each course came exactly when we were ready for it, and we never got the sense that he was hovering over us. It was very refreshing to have such great service, not to mention the food. The eggplant parmesan is excellent. It is not breaded like most I have tried, but it melts in your mouth and the sauce is delicious. We also had the pumpkin ravioli which is in a cream sauce that is surprisingly light and is my favorite dish. The ossobucco is great, and in fact I have never tried anything there I haven't liked. Pros: Service, Food, Ambience more

Great Food/Great Atmosphere/Great Service 2/22/2007

I loved Cucina Paradiso. The atmosphere was very cozy and our server was phenomenal! He had a very thick Italian accent and made my boyfriend and I feel like we were in Italy! We had the Polenta as an appetizer which was unique and tasty- which the server recommended. Also had the Pumpkin ravioli which our server recommended as well! All in all it was a fabulous dinner and great recommendations from our server! more

This restaurant was a bid disappointmenr 2/16/2007

The restaurant is totally unprepared for handling large crowds. Ona busy night you have to wait for 10-15 minutes even for the bread to show up on the table; and we had to ask 4 different people before they finally bring it out. The taste of the food was OK, although nothing exceptional. But the worst of all was the way the food was presented on the plate. I have never ever in my life seen a saddest food presention. Even a cheap dinner presents the food in a much nicer way. more

Our new favorite restaurant 9/17/2006

We've been living near Motor and National for months and we finally made our way over to Cucina Paradiso. We can't believe that we waited so long. This place is going to be our new weekly treat. Foremost because the food was delicious. That's usually enough, because honestly, good food is just hard to come by in LA without spending a fortune. To our surprise, the food wasn't the only great part about our visit. The atmosphere was perfect for a peaceful and romantic dinner for my fiancee and I. The waiter was informed and helpful and really a genuinely nice guy. more

Amazing 7/8/2006

The food was delish! I'm not the biggest fan of salmon but the Salmon special was SO incredibly good that my husband reluctantly traded dishes with me (it was my birthday). The Swordfish special was to die for!!! It literaly melted in my mouth. OMG and the mashed potatoes and the side of spinach were out of this worled. Seriously, we live by this place and I never thought it would be so good! For desert we had the flourless choclate cake, I think its called tartuffo, and it was a chocoholic's dream, creamy and rich. It is a small piece of cake, so if you love chocolate, dont count on sharing! We went on Sunday when it was pretty much empty but it still took awhile. The waiter was very funny and charming, thus making the wait not so unbearable. And of course, the good food made up for the wait as well. Pros: Food, server was friendly, amazing chocolate dessert Cons: That big gap of time when they are not open more

Best Italian 6/21/2006

Oh my Gosh!!!! I have never had such a great Italian dinner, it was wonderful. The staff was great the food was the best I have ever had and the ambiance was very nice as well. You have to try the pumpkin ravioli!!! The wine, coffee and dessert were absolutly wonderful as well. Pros: next to The Palmer Room, fun night life Cons: parking more

wonderful. 5/18/2006

i am so happy to finally find a great fine dining restaurant in my neighborhood! i went to cucina paradiso on a monday--and was pleasantly surprised to find that that is their ""half-off pinot noir"" night. the bottle we ordered was fabulous, and such a steal! actually, everything on our table was fabulous: the salmon special, crab pasta, rapini, caesar salad... i especially recommend the polenta and truffle appetizer! the ambiance was very nice, and the service was fantastic--both the manager and the chef stopped by our table to check on us. we didn't get a chance to visit the adjoining lounge, but i will next time i go! and there will definitely be a ""next time"" very soon! Pros: food!, service!, atmosphere! more

Good service, TINY portions 4/21/2006

This is authentic Italian. The servers are attentive. The atmosphere is pleasant. But if you want tapas-sized portions for a lot of money, look no further. I ordered the pumpkin stuffed pasta, and I was horrified when my plate arrived with NINE pieces of pasta that were 1"" L x 1""W. The bowl it was served in was ONE-QUARTER full. For $14? You know pasta doesn't cost much to make. It was truly a rip off. I won't be back. Pros: Good service, Nice atmosphere Cons: Expensive, TINY portions more

The NEW Modern Italy 1/24/2006

Want great food, awsome service at a cool new L.A hot spot without the high prices? You have to try Cucina Paradiso! I went there on a girls night out and absolutley fell in love with the place. It was a calm and laid back enviroment but still relaxed enough to where you can laugh and have a good time. It liked it so much that i went a week later on a date and it was perfect. It's a great place for both a large group and private meeting. I JUST LOVED IT! more

Best dining experience in LA!! 11/5/2005

This was truly the best dining experience we've had in LA. The service was outstanding, the food was impeccable and the atmosphere was warm and inviting without the pretense of a lot of other LA restaurants. Our waitress was friendly, very attentive and made excellent menu suggestions. In addition, the manager and the chef himself came to our table to see how everything was. The menu offered a great variety and there were also numerous specials. The pumpkin ravioli with light cream sauce and sage was delicious and the panacotta with berries was a light, creamy dessert that topped off our perfect meal. We plan to visit this restaurant regularly as we love everything about it. Pros: Excellent service, Inviting Atmosphere, Great food more
