The Dresden Room is one of the last great cocktail bars of Hollywood, in my opinion. White leather booths fill the dining room with a bygone kind of elegance. Dark cork-covered walls and kitschy 70's lighting fixtures make the bar a bit more lighthearted. This is where you can see Marty and Elaine (of Swingers fame) perform their hits, including Stayin' Alive, every night of the week. Valet Parking for $3 or street parking. more

The Dresden Lounge is a great place for eating, talking and relaxing, because the Dresden is located in a cool part of LA, contains 40's style architecture, feels like LA, and has a history with visiting movie stars. Also, my parents, who have been married 46 years, maintained their courtship at the Dresden in the 50's. Thus, the Dresden is a great and special place. more

  • Yes, the Dresden Restaurant is famous for movies like Swingers, That Thing You Do with Tom Hanks and a host of others that have chosen it for location shoots. It's been around since 1964 and still carries itself with that air of the 60s.

At the bar, blue glasses are seen before patrons as they sip the house classic Blood and Sand--a space age margarita--and of course the ubiquitous martinis and Manhattans. Glasses of wine are popular, but the best choice is a bottle from the Dresden's 33-bin wine list. There is only standing room late at night, but there's never with a cover charge. It is the Hollywood place to be and be seen. It's not a super expensive place like Perino's or Chasen's were, but more like the famous Brown Derby. First rate, yet affordable for the average person.

Editorial
  • Built in 1964, this Los Feliz institution was going strong long before it was immortalized in ""Swingers"" and gave Vince Vaughn a career. The grand dining room is a kitschy wonder of high...
